Naruto Kawariden: A Naruto Rewrite - Casting Post Round #1
Project Overview
CakeFish Productions was formed as a collaborative effort to produce a full rewrite of Masashi Kishimoto's Naruto, which we have dubbed Naruto Kawariden: A Naruto Rewrite. Our team aims to create a story that is faithful to the characters, themes, and plot, and that recognizes their full potentials. We are a group of friends with a shared passion for the original series. However, we feel the story could have made so much more out of the content given to us. Thus, Naruto Kawariden was born!
We are currently posting chapters of our rewrite on ao3 and ffnet. We are also making a Youtube channel where we will be narrating these chapters, hence this post looking for voice actors.

This role is one of the most important for the series, and will be used in every episode. It will have many lines, and will be the first voice actor role to get paid when we can. As for the voice itself: A deeper, more calm and authoritative voice which shows emotion here and there would work fabulously.

Naruto Uzumaki is the main character. He is loud, boisterous, energetic, and speaks with his full chest. While these traits are frequent, they are not constant; a decent emotional range is needed for this role. Akin to other roles, you can use the official release as inspiration. However, we encourage voice actors to prioritize what sounds right to them over impressions.

Iruka is an older brother figure to Naruto, therefore his voice must be authoritative yet caring. Yelling is a required skill.

Mizuki is the first antagonist in the series. We are looking for a man who sounds charming and calm, yet is conniving with a sinister edge when the mask falls.

Hiruzen Sarutobi is the old and wise, yet not weary leader of his village. He speaks calmly, though carries a sense of power in his words. He is kind, yet commands respect.

Sakura is a young girl with great passion and an explosive temper. Behind the hot streak lies the potential for understanding and caring, so a range of complex emotions is needed for this role. Sakura appears frequently during the story, being part of the main trio.

Kakashi is the sensei and supervisor of team 7, the main trio of genin we follow. He has a habit of nonchalance, his voice reflecting this. This changes during intense situations, his main priority being to protect his comrades and his sense of passion and determination shine through.

Danzo is an ever present background force, always scheming and attempting to undermine Hiruzen. He shares his rival’s age, alongside his passion. He is cold, ruthless, and stoic. His only showing of kindness is a mask he occasionally wears.

Teuchi is a kind and caring middle aged man who owns a ramen shop. He brings a sense of comfort and familiarity to those he speaks with, and is very protective of his daughter.

Her voice is that of a young adult girl. As for her tone: it's comforting and welcoming just like her father. She has a soft spot for Naruto, like an older sister.
