Synopsis
Ten-year-old Sophia "Sophie" Brown has lived in fear ever since her mother, Cassie Brown, died when Sophie was only three years old. Her father, Sebastian Brown, hides his true nature behind the image of a caring parent, but inside their home he is controlling, manipulative, and frightening.
At school, Sophie struggles to hide her pain. Fortunately, she has supportive friends, including Aiden Smith, Jhilliane "Jhill" Smith, Mariella "Marie" Wazorski, and the cheerful Ozzie "Ozz" Makenzie, who slowly realize something is terribly wrong.
When Officer Darwin Clarkson and several police officers uncover evidence of Sebastian's abuse, they rescue Sophie and arrest her father. Three days later, Sebastian stands trial. After hearing testimony and reviewing the evidence, the judges find him guilty and sentence him to 13 years in prison.
For the first time in years, Sophie begins a new chapter of her life surrounded by friends, neighbors, and people who genuinely care about her. Although the memories still haunt her, she discovers that healing is possible.
