About:
This is a fandub project of the phycological horror game Mouthwashing. The original game has little to no voice acting so we thought it would be fun to bring some voices to these beloved characters.
Requirements:
Please be at least 13+ due to the nature and topics of this game. As it goes into gore, SA, violence, profanity, and more.
Your mic quality doesn't need to be perfect but please keep the background noise to a minimum. If you don't have a microphone use your phone camera, voice memos, or other apps that can record audio with decent quality. There are lots of alternatives if you don't have a mic.
On the topic of audio, you can use voice isolation tools, like the ones in capcut if you'd like to improve your audio.
Characters:
If you don't know a whole lot about this game I would suggest watching a playthrough or reading the characters wiki's to learn more about them. All the characters in this game are very layered and well written and I would like to honor their true personalities as well as possible.
After Casting:
Once everyone gets their roles I will invite you to a discord server and we will continue communication over there.
The video will be posted in either posted in parts or all at once onto youtube. Most likely my personal account but that may change. You of course will be credited with your social medias in the description as well as at the end of the video.

When auditioning please state your name, age, preferred pronouns, and discord user. As well as anything else you would like to add.
We have so many fantastic auditions already. Although I do want to give so more people a chance to audition for this project. I'm also currently a little busy and wouldn't be able to do casting yet.
Sorry to anyone who thought casting was soon. I know it's stressful waiting for results. But hopefully we'll be ready to cast soon.
Voice Actor
Curly is a promising and ambitious man and is said to have a large future ahead of him. Over time, he grows discontent with his position, wondering if the captain is "all [he'll] ever be." He reflects on having chosen the wrong career path. Regardless, he cares about his crewmates, who return respect for him, being called "great captain" by them. He has personal conflicts with his friend and co-pilot, Jimmy, who both admires Curly and envies him. He is responsible yet lenient, and his efforts to see the best in everyone lead to his overlooking conflicts on the ship. He tends to ignore inconvenient details to focus on the bigger picture, which is one of his most major flaws. This is shown both symbolically when he cannot see the dead pixel on the monitor in the lounge and when he does not act against Jimmy after learning he assaulted Anya.

On another note we also would be done with the idea of having Scottish curly. But that's not a requirement, either Scottish or general American, the choice is up to you.

Voice Actor
Daisuke is the most optimistic crew member. He is often enthusiastic about his duties and retains said enthusiasm after the crash. However, despite his preppy exterior, he later in the game drunkenly confesses to Jimmy (as the the alcohol content of the mouthwash had caused this after he drank too much) that he struggles to find meaning in life. He occasionally fantasizes over women and has an affinity for sugar, arcade games[2], and thrifting clothes[3].
He is helpfully unhelpful on occasion and seeks approval from the other crew members, especially Swansea and Jimmy. He is passionate about helping his crewmates, expressing concern when Anya locks herself in the medbay in Chapter 11. Despite it being dangerous, Daisuke willingly goes into the collapsed vent in the utility room after being manipulated by Jimmy to think that it is safe, and that he would make Swansea proud. He is airheaded and ditzy, and is noted by Swansea to be thick-skulled and a "useless ray of goddamn sunshine". As a result, he expresses a feeling of being useless, as proven by his desire for approval. In grim conversations and situations, Daisuke prefers to remain silent.

For him we have less of a specific idea for him. We mostly just want him to sound like an teenage boy/young adult. Nothing to exaggerated.

Voice Actor
Swansea often appears as a grumpy, old man. Initially, he doesn't care for any of his co-workers, and often loses his temper with his intern Daisuke, whom he often finds to be more of a nuisance than anything else. He continuously blocks off the path to the utility room claiming that it's filled to the brim with foam, which turned out to be a lie as he was trying to hide the only working cryostasis pod from the other crew members.
Although he has a very tough, cold exterior, he did seemingly care for Daisuke; it is implied he was hiding the pod in the hope that Daisuke could use it. Whether cared for the others as much as he cared for Daisuke is unknown.
Swansea is easily irritated, aloof but also quite stoic before the crash, accepting what will happen to Pony Express without worrying or panicking as much as the others. However, after the crash, especially in Jimmy's perspective, he is shown to be extremely violent, incompetent, a drunkard and even "insane". While relapsing may have greatly affected his personality, it can be said Jimmy heavily exaggerated his traits.

For him we have a very specific idea on how he should sound. A voice simalar to what we want for him is Dave B. Mitchell's character in Lego Monkie Kid Pigsy

Voice Actor
Jimmy is shown to feel very little guilt for his actions, being more likely to block out things than to feel bad for what he had done. He tends to act bitter, spiteful, passive-aggressive, and in some cases actively manipulative. It had been mentioned that Jimmy experienced difficulty back on Earth; this was most likely the reason why he felt some comfort in his role as co-pilot — he likely felt as if his life was out of his control. Even then, Jimmy still saw himself as "climbing the [corporate] ladder" while imagining Curly as "already [being] at the top". Because of this, Jimmy is envious of Curly's position as captain; he desires the authority that comes with the job, but fails to consider the numerous responsibilities and duties that someone in Curly's position would have. This failure to consider is what overwhelmed Jimmy, and he expresses disappointment with the other crew members — Anya in particular, when she asks for his help with Curly's painkillers. Ultimately, he realizes that he had always been unfit as captain, and that Curly should have retained his position.
Jimmy tends to act impulsively with little thought behind his actions, exemplified by causing the crash of the Tulpar which left Curly grievously injured and fully incapacitated. Prior to the crash, he also immediately begins to panic over learning that Anya had become pregnant after he had sexually assaulted her, running away from the conversation instead of assuming responsibility for what he had done. After the crash, he made an empty promise to take responsibility, yet failed to acknowledge that his actions were what caused the crash. Instead, he accused Curly of causing the crash, and redirecting everyone's misguided hatred onto him. He tends to twist the meaning of other people's words without understanding their meaning, applying them to himself to justify his actions. As a consequence, he becomes an unreliable narrator.
His status as an unreliable narrator is exacerbated by the disdain he feels for those around him, meaning he tends to amplify their negative traits. Jimmy often jumps to conclusions and is accusatory of those around him. He lashed out at Curly at his birthday party after he had told the crew of Pony Express' imminent shut down, stating that he believed Curly wanted to just leave everybody behind. Jimmy often projects his own insecurities and traits onto others, such as when he assumed Swansea wanted to keep the only working cryostasis pod for himself.

For his voice we want him to sound tired and angry like majority of the time. Greasy and Gravely but not to much gravel.

I can go back to my, how'd you put it? Struggle of a life? Anya never got into medical school because she's... well, let's be real. And how many employment years Swansea got left in him? Daisuke will be fine, mommy and daddy have him covered. So there's that at least. But you. Headed for bigger and better, right?

Voice Actor
Anya is a kind, intelligent, and determined woman with a passion for nursing. Before her assault, she was lively, had a sense of humor, and got along with the rest of the Tulpar crew. She was stated to be competitive with board games. After being assaulted, she adopted a soft-spoken and nervous demeanor. She often acted meek around the rest of the crew, notably seeking to avoid Jimmy and protect herself from him. Post-crash, her mental health declined rapidly, coupled with the fact that Jimmy declared himself captain. She became prone to breakdowns, anxiety, and self-isolation.
She was also mentioned to have been studying books on psychology while aboard the Tulpar and spends most of her free time studying. Back on earth, she jogged to clear her head, and upon hitting her lowest point would binge reality television shows and fast food.

Like it says in her description she is softer spoken and nervous and I would love that to be portrayed in the way you deliver her lines. Not over the top like fluttershy from mlp. But how a real life person would be if they were softer spoken. We would also like her voice to be in the med-low category for female voices because I would like her to sound mature and not so much like a teen character who would have more of a med-high voice.
I actually kinda like the night time window screen. If you can believe it. So I just come look at it sometimes. If you look really, really close, you can see there's a dead pixel in the upper right corner.
