Thirteen-year-old Zora escapes her parents' constant fighting and her father's alcoholism by spending the summer with her eccentric grandmother, Gigi, at her cozy beach cottage. While exploring Gigi's basement, she discovers a magical mirror that transports her to a hidden world. There, she enrolls at Moonstone Academy, a breathtaking boarding school for magical girls, where she finally finds friendship, belonging, and a place that feels like home.
Nineteen perfect days later, everything changes. A boy from the rival boys' school, Nightwood Academy, is found mysteriously murdered inside Moonstone Academy—even though crossing between the schools should have been impossible. As the only new student with unusually powerful magic, Zora becomes the prime suspect.
With less than forty-eight hours before she's executed for a crime she didn't commit, Zora and her brilliant friend Sienna must uncover the real killer. As secrets unravel and danger grows, they'll have to solve the impossible murder before time runs out—and before the full red moon changes everything.

Role: Main
Gender: Female
Name: Zora
Age: 13
Personality: Zora is a genuinely sweet, deep-feeling kid who uses a sarcastic, funny attitude to hide how much her parents' fighting hurts her. She is incredibly nice and loyal to the people she loves, but she is also a curious rebel who isn't afraid to be different and dive headfirst into creepy, unpredictable situations.
Voice: Zora's voice should sound youthful, expressive, and mid range (not too high not too low), fitting a typical thirteen-year-old girl. It needs a quick conversational pace that can instantly flip from bright, bubbly enthusiasm to quiet, anxious vulnerability. Avoid voices that sound too mature, overly cartoonish, or too young like a little kid.

(Hight energy, excitement, bubbly) Obviously! Grandma's house is literally paradise. Paradise with cookies.
(Thought, quiet, anxiety, desperate) Ohh God, please don't make me pick a side.
(Sassy, annoyed, defensive) His name is Pablo Jackson. And it's the best romance movie ever made.
Role: Supporting
Gender: Female
Name: Gigi (Grandma)
Age: Elderly (60s–70s)
Personality: Gigi is a vibrant, eccentric bohemian who acts as Zora’s ultimate anchor. While she presents herself as a whimsical, jazz-loving grandma who bakes bizarre cookie combinations, she is actually incredibly sharp, deeply intuitive, and highly protective. She deliberately keeps her house a chaotic, joyful sanctuary because she knows exactly how heavy Zora's home life is. Gigi doesn't just tolerate Zora's rebellious streaks and colorful hair—she secretly champions them, possessing a quiet, fierce strength that proves she truly is tougher than everyone else put together.
Voice: Gigi's voice should sound mature, comforting, and raspy with age, carrying a warm and melodic tone. Her voice can be slightly latino. Her natural speaking pace is relaxed, cheerful, and full of chuckles, but she can instantly switch to a grounded, firm tone when trying to sound authoritative. Avoid voices that sound overly frail, weak, or standardly strict.

(Warm, cheerful, chuckling) “Zora, honey. Would you mind heading down to the basement for me. These old knees would hate me if I went.
(Playful, winking, teasing) “That's the plan.
(Teasingly authoritative, fake bossy) “Say goodbye to your parents, and grab your stuff.
Role: Minor
Gender: Male
Name: Vince (Dad)
Age: Late 30s / Early 40s
Personality: Vince is a deeply flawed father trapped in a cycle of alcoholism. On
the surface, he tries to be the "fun parent"—charming, reckless, and always flashing a lopsided grin to encourage Zora to be a wild, carefree kid. However, his fun-loving attitude is a mask for severe irresponsibility and denial. He uses jokes to deflect criticism and actively hides his drinking, completely oblivious to how much his behavior hurts his daughter.
Voice: Mid-to-low range, gravelly, and conversational. His voice can sound incredibly charming and playful one second, but sluggish, defensive, and deeply strained the next.

(Playful, charming, slightly sluggish) Be as reckless as you want, girl. It's called having a childhood.
(Sluggish, defensive) “I'm not drunk. I only had some wine.
(Insecure, seeking validation, angry) “Girl, don't listen to your mother. I'm an amazing father, aren't I?
Role: Minor
Gender: Female
Name: Catherine (Mom)
Age: Late 30s / Early 40s
Personality: Catherine is an exhausted, deeply anxious woman who has
reached her absolute breaking point. Constantly forced to be the only responsible adult in her marriage, her worry has morphed into sharp bitterness and a sour attitude. She loves Zora fiercely and wants to protect her, but her overwhelming stress causes her to pick fights and snap easily, creating a toxic environment that suffocates her daughter.
Voice: Mid-to-high range, sharp, and tightly wound. Her voice can be slightly latino. Her voice carries a heavy weight of chronic exhaustion, but easily cracks and sharpens into a bitter, high-tension edge during arguments.

(Bitter, laughing without humor) An amazing father? Do you even remember our daughter's name? You've called her 'girl' this entire drive
(Sharp, accusing) You drank almost all of it before getting in the car with our daughter.
(Sour, interrupting) Honey, would you turn the mini TV off? We're here.
