Midnight Encounter VA
Project Overview
Here's our plot for our VA game, Midnight Encounter.
In a world where light and dark have been lost for many years, citizens are doing as they please and continuing to beg magic users to revert the world to it's regular state, but nothing could be done. The gods deemed the world unworthy of light and dark, since they believed they could govern themselves.
Then, on a fateful day, light and dark were reincarnated as humans. Two fraternal twin children. The balance was restored, and all began to fall into place again. Until the world blamed the original loss of light and dark on magic users, beginning to kill them and break them, turning them into soldiers for the front lines of war.
A young group of children hid their traits and magical fingerprints, seeming as ordinary as possible. They grew to the age of 14 until light and dark began to fight because dark didn't understand why everyone got off the hook so easily with her sister. And so, with all the power they could muster, they fought a devastating battle.
To keep her friends safe from her sister, light traded her own memories and powers by using her biggest spell to lock dark away for some time, at least to when she could come back older and wiser.
Light no longer remembered anything, sent off with her sisters final wish. For everyone to forget light. The world fell at the knees of dark once she broke out of the weak spell, and now it is up to her friends to help her restore her memories and either restore order and make amends with her sister, or to take all the power for herself and govern the world alone with the guilt, but with the reassuring thought knowing the world will be safe.

Her voice is medium-high, sweet, and curious. She's usually inquisitive. She's the main character of this game, and has the most lines.
"Haha, funny joke. I'm not a goddess, but if that's a compliment to my beauty, thanks!" (LAUGHING, JOKINGLY)
"I hate this mundane life..." (WHISPERING, SAD)
"But! Mrs.Holts!" (COMPLAINING)
"Okays...when did I get here? Who are you....? God damn it! LET GO OF ME!" (YELLING, SCARED)
Dawn is the main antagonist who wants nothing more than for her sister, Tristesse, to finally die. She's vengeful, bitter, and sad. HER VOICE IS MEDIUM-LOW, ANGRY, AND MALICIOUS.
"There's nothing I want more than to see you die." (ANGRY)
"Worthless. Throw his body in the acid." (BLAND, SLIGHT ANGER)
"My sister should be dead! How did you screw up so bad?! (ENRAGED)
"I never get what I want." (SAD)
Sophisticated, peppy, and just a tad snobby. Her voice is medium-high and almost as proper as a princess.
"Please do not get my work desk dirty. It takes AGES to clean." (SNIPPY)
"I'm not going to kiss you." (LAUGHING, JOKINGLY DISGUSTED)
"My boot got stuck in the mud, so I left it behind." (CHEERY, PEPPY)
"Oh! Look at that! We're under the mistletoe, aren't we?" (FLIRTY, HAPPY, JOKING)
A cold robot made to educate children in a daycare. She knows all about the human world. She's logical and just wants a friend at the end of the day. Her voice is medium-high/low, and it's authoritative and calm.
"Please don't touch me. I will stab you. I was educated in self-defense." (THREATENING, COLD)
"Penelope! You can't be here....the guards will catch you." (WORRIED, CARING)
"Honestly, that is the sweetest, yet most disturbing shit I've ever heard." (LAUGHING, DISGUSTED)
"Are you CRAZY?! We wouldn't be able to make it out of here ALIVE! I'd rather be alive with you...I don't want to lose a companion..." (CRYING, ANGRY)
A robot made for combat, yet sweet and loving. She only knows how to travel. She knows nothing of humans, and she's very naive and charges into danger headfirst. Her voice is high, soft, and curious.
"I do not have a human heart, but when I see you, my metal heart goes pitter patter." (SOFT, LOVING, HAPPY)
"Stand back! Penelope, Model 4193 PREPARED FOR ANY COMBAT!" (AUTHORITIVE, PROTECTIVE)
"There's no use. They'll continue to capture me..." (DEFEATED, SAD)
"Let's run away together! I can keep you safe, and you can teach me all about the human world!" (DARING, SAD OPTIMISM)
A struggling 21 year old seems to care for everyone but herself. She drinks after breakups, wondering why the relationship didn't work. Well, that's until she realizes it's not her who's the problem, it's the guys. Her voice is medium-low, and kind of raspy.
"I'm not drunk!" (SLUR YOUR WODS, LAUGH AT THE END)
"Do you not understand...? I uhm...I don't think I like guys..." (WHISPERING, WORRIED)
"I'll beat your ass. Stop playing around." (ANGRY, CHALLENGING)
"Please don't tell anyone." (SCARED, UPSET)
Reyner is a pretty monotone, nonchalant character who sticks to Mari's (MAR-EE) side like glue. HIS VOICE IS MONOTONE (unless stated otherwise) AND LOW.
"Yo! I'm Reyner. What's up?" (CALM)
"Why, are we having this conversation again?" (SNARKY)
"Yeah Mari... don't worry about it." (SWEET, DREAMY)
"I didn't plan on fighting monsters before breakfast, but here I am!" (CALM, BUT SLOWLY RISE INTO BEING LOUDLY EXCITED)
Micah is a fatherly type guy, who loves very hard and cares for everyone he comes across. HIS VOICE IS FATHERLY, LOW, AND REASSURING.
"Eat your breakfast, Alice worked hard on it." (HAPPY, ENERGIZED)
"Everyone, calm down. I'll go get Eve. I'm pretty sure she's at the bar." (SOOTHING, REASSURING)
"I hate to say this, but you've disappointed me." (DISAPPOINTED, UPSET)
"Yes. Leylha? She's absolutely adorkable." (DREAMILY, SIGHING)
Amara is a motherly, caring woman. She takes care of everyone like her own. HER VOICE IS DEEP/MATURE AND MOTHERLY/REASSURING
"Sorry! I must've gone overboard again... haha." (ANXIOUSLY)
"I-I didn't mean to..." (EMBARRASSED)
"You need to take better care of yourself! Or else I'll do it for you!!" (MOTHERLY, CONCERNED)
"I wasn't the best mercenary in my family for nothing! Ahaha!" (PROUD)
Alice is a sisterly type character. She loves to help people, but she's also a support type character. HER VOICE IS UPBEAT, GENUINE AND MEDIUM HIGH.
"Hey! I'm Alice, what's your name?" (UPBEAT, WELCOMING)
"Don't push yourself too hard..." (WORRIED)
"Just because I can't fight as well doesn't mean I can't support you!" (ANGRY)
"Ugh... I've been cooking all day. I hope everyone appreciates it when they come back..." (EXHAUSTED)
Arrow is a childish, carefree guy. He's usually baking. HIS VOICE IS MEDIUM LOW, USUALLY HYPER. HIS VOICE GOES LOWER WHEN ANGRY.
"Hey! Want a slice of apple pie?" (HAPPY, LAUGH AT THE END)
"Darn. I dropped the pie... sorry, but you're going to have to wait to get a slice now." (SAD, APOLOGETIC)
"Want to help me put up the Christmas tree?!?!" (HYPER, TALK FAST)
"Didn't I tell you to stay away from my family?" (LOW, THREATENING)
Maestiel is an alien that was summoned by Dawn, but of their own free will, they left, not wanting to partake in it. THEIR VOICE IS MEDIUM-LOW, CHEERY.
"Pronouns are oddly confusing. Just call me anything!" (CHEERY, CONFUSED)
"I do not know much about this planet. But I do know that there are amazing humans here." (JOKING WHISPER)
"What is a 'simp'?" (CONFUSED WHISPER)
"These are my humans! Do not harm them, so I will obliterate you!" (ANGRY, DEFENSIVE)
Leylha is optimistic, but a fighter. She loves all things about the earth as a whole, and is a bright soul. HER VOICE IS SWEET AND LIGHT, MEDIUM-HIGH.
"I looooove you!! Haha!" (HAPPY LAUGH, STRETCH OUT THE O)
"Just like flower petals in the wind." (LOST IN THOUGHT, DREAMILY)
"Why would you say something like that...?" (SAD, ANRGY)
"Let's promise to cook together tonight!" (CHEERY)
Kairo is a guy who tries to act nonchalant, but he really cares about every and anything that's happening. He's still childish at heart. HIS VOICE IS CARING, JOKING, AND ANY TYPE OF PITCH WORKS.
"Oh no, I have horns. Why a curse." (SARCASTIC)
"Please, I don't care." (JOKING, LAUGH)
"Never again." (SCARED, SHAKY VOICE)
"Can I have a candy apple?" (HAPPY)
Zephyr is uncaring. He doesn't want to talk to anyone. The forest is his home. HIS VOICE IS DEEP AND ANNOYED.
"It's your fault the royal family went to shit." (accusatory)
"I'm tired. Can we talk about this later?" (happy yet sleepy)
"The forest is my home. But everyone has to leave home at some point." (sad, disappointed)
"I blame nobody but myself. I need a drink." (angry, frustrated)
Journey is usually sleeping, but when he's awake, he's very active and tries to be friendly. HIS VOICE IS DEEP AND MATURE, AND SOUNDS LIKE HE'S STANDOFFISH.
"I'm tired. It's too early to be getting up." (SLEEPY, MUMBLING)
"You want to fight? Hah. What a joke." (LAUGHING, HAPPY)
"Do you have any bread? I'm hungry." (FLAT, A LITTLE WAVERY)
"Goodnight." (CALM)
Kace is a cold detective who is devoted to his work like no other, Unfortunately, that makes him seem not approachable to bystanders. HIS VOICE IS DEEP AND SERIOUS, AND HE SOUNDS CONSTANTLY ANNOYED.
"This Kace has been closed. By me, Kace. Good day now." (MONOTONE, SLIGHT HINT OF LAUGHTER)
"Please leave me alone, I've almost cracked this case." (GUILTY, DISMISSIVE)
"You're dense. I love you. Get it now?" (HAPPY, JOKING)
"Don't test me. I know how to cover up a murder." (ANGRY)
