Hey, what's up guys?
My name is DJ Horn. To give a brief intro, I've been a writer my entire life. It started off with essays and poetry at a young age and has since transitioned to writing for Visual Novels and anime critique (Which you can find HERE).
But now...It's time to change things up a bit. I've decided to harness my comedic creativity into something a lot more...fun. An abridged series. And what's a better show to write an abridged series for than Mayoiga: The Lost Village -- a show that is already somewhat of a parody of itself.
Needless to say, with such a colossal cast, I'm going to need a bunch of help. That's where YOU come in. I'll be holding a lengthy audition period spanning over the next two months in order to attain a sufficient amount of actors and actresses. In addition, I will be keeping you constantly updated on the progress of the script (Which is only partly done as of right now) as it builds up. Now, a few things to note before we get down to character info and stuff.
1) This will be a multi-part series uploaded to Youtube -- meaning I will need you for several episodes, each roughly 5 minutes in length.
2) There are A LOT of characters in Mayoiga. Some may have more lines than others. I'll do my best to keep line counts balanced, but I make no guarantees.
3) There WILL be profanity in this abridged series. By auditioning, you agree to voicing profane words if need be.
4) You will probably need to sing the chorus of Hotline Bling by Drake.
5) Note #4 is not kidding. You may actually need to do that. Realistically, I only need like 4 or 5 people for that part.
6) Since this group is going to be relatively large, I plan on using Discord for all of use to communicate as a group. (If you don't have Discord, it's super easy and free to register for). One of the best ways to ensure a quality end-product is to have everyone synergizing well. What better what to do that than a huge party chat?
The video portion for the first episode is already spliced together -- I have a background in video editing as well.
REQUIREMENTS:
1) A good microphone. I'm sorry to say this, but even if you're Daniel Day Lewis or Meryl Streep, I can't cast you if your mic is picking up tons of background noise and you sound like you're underwater.
2) Casting will MOST likely, not be until a week or so after the audition deadline. HOWEVER, if you are perfect for the role, I may cast you right away.
3) I will be asking for roughly 3 takes of each line when it comes time to submit them. If none of them are up to my expectations, you may be asked to redo them. It's nothing personal, I just want to make sure everything is spot on.
4) Good communication. Some people have busy schedules, I understand that. But if I send you an email and you don't get back to me for over a week...we may have a problem.
5) Don't be a jerk. We're going to have a lot of people on this project. If I catch wind of you belittling or insulting any of them, you will be removed.
If you are uncomfortable with posting your audition to this site, you may email it to me at [redacted]. Please have all the lines condensed into a single file.
Good luck!
