Marvel 1872 | Comic Dub

Marvel 1872 | Comic Dub

Project Overview

Krayt Dragon Films is proud to announce that we will be continuing our Marvel comic dubs with the 1872 series! KDF has been producing critically acclaimed comic series similar to this one for three years, especially Star Wars content.  We are thrilled to include this series in our line up! Before we delve too far into what this project is about, we have supplied links to some of our previously completed works to give you a feel for what you will be voicing.

Previous Productions:

Vader #3
Star Wars: Main Series #1
Leia #1
Kanan: The Last Padawan #1
Darth Maul #1
Avengers: Infinity War Prelude #1

How it Works:
Suffice to say, we have mastered bringing to life comics over our near three year run on YouTube. We pride ourselves on our company's quality in both visuals, sound effects, music, and the most important part: the voice actors. All productions start with a highly detailed and descriptive casting call. Our typical policy is we don't cast actors until the last day of the call so everyone has plenty of time to audition. Our CC's typically last 2-3 weeks. At the end of the CC process, the Series Director and Casting Director sit down together and make the casting decisions based on a variety of factors such as audio quality, performance, vocal range, talent, etc. Once the casting decisions have been made, we send a link for a private Discord server where you will find your scripts, schedule meetings for live voice direction, and to just meet and mingle with your fellow castmates. The production time on all projects are airtight, all lines are due within seven days of the script's release to allow voice actors time to first takes and if requested, retakes. If a request is requested you will have three days after the retake request is made to redo your lines. From there it is up to the Director and Producer to bring to life the comic. Production time can range from a few days to a few weeks so please try to have your audio in as quickly as possible so production can begin. Rinse and repeat until the series is complete!

The Synopsis:

Sheriff Steve Rogers faces corruption and fear in the boom town of TIMELY. The only thing Anthony Stark seems capable of is pulling a cork, so can he pull Roger’s fat from the fire? But…a stranger comes to town that will Change Timely forever…for anyone left standing that is.

1872 is on Battle World, created by the God and Master Victor Von Doom when the multiverse was destroyed. It is a massive patchwork planet composed of what was left when the multiverse was destroyed. 1872 is a part of the Secret Wars that take place on Battle World. The town of timely and the 1872 series is set in the wild west of the United States. Therefore, we recommend watching some Western films/tv shows, in preparation for this series.

Series Producer: Lauren B.
Casting Director: Robert A.

Ground rules:

- Please make sure you can commit to the series and reprising your roles. The series is a rather lengthy one which will require you to reprise your role for close to a year.

- Please be able to get your lines in the very same week you get the script. Production time will be airtight!

- Have professional grade equipment or at the bare minimum make sure your audio is top notch. No background noise!

- Have a Discord or be able to create one. This allows for us to communicate and upload documents much easier than Skype or any other platform.

- Lastly, enjoy yourselves!

We look forward to hearing your performances!

Red Wolf

Red Wolf is a Native American who is from the Cheyenne tribe. Believed to be blessed by the Red Wolf of his tribe he often works to protect them and promote peace between Native Americans and the whites.  In the comic 1872, he works to destroy the dam near Timely and to return water to the native’s lands and save his people. Red Wolf is gruff and tends to not trust many in the town of Timely. He does not believe true justice is possible through the law, but instead through his own hands.

We are looking for a Native American accent.  Here is a YouTube channel that is dedicated to the speaking of Cheyenne. Which may help in getting an accent down. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTf9ndN7kgYqD8g0rKZKyVg/videos

  • “You crossed your own people to save Red Wolf. You made enemies of friends.”

  • “Did that make you feel any better about your predicament?”

  • “My war is not with you, woman.”

Role assigned to: Jake Strong

Ben is the head writer for the local newspaper. He often writes what he is told, as to prevent he and his wife from being attacked by the Mayor and his men. Ben tends to be quiet, trying to avoid conflict where possible. At the same time, he does report wrongdoings to Rogers, trying to see if anything good can come from a bad situation. In the 1872 series he serves as the overarching narrator. For the narrator voice, he is calm reflecting on the events that have happened in Timely, and that are about to happen. In his speaking lines he is a nervous, and very cautious of his actions.

We are looking for someone who can easily narrate the series as well as have an active character role. An old show called Grizzly Adams, has a narrator for the intro, if you can soften the accent just a tad go for something like that.

  • "Timely was nothing more than a charming watering hole filled with colorful characters and cheap thrills. Then they found silver and gold in our hills, and our hoe was baptized in blood and fire. "

  • "Sheriff! A boy came by the bulletin with a tip that there’s to be another lynching! "

  • "Hurry, Doris! It’s going to be a long ride to Salvation. I’d like to be halfway to the northern coast by the time my story pinning rogers’ murder on Mayor Fisk prints. "

Carol Danvers

Role assigned to: candice faith

The Carol Danvers of 1872 is a strong female leader in the Timely community. She has no problems calling out injustice when she sees it. She becomes a proponent of justice and works to stop Mayor Fisk and his men getting away with the crimes they have been committing on Timely.  Strong willed and determined are the best words to describe Carol Danvers.

For her voice we are looking for an accent and voice similar to Mattie Ross’s voice from True Grit. Mattie Ross’s character is stubborn by all means, and has no problem picking a fight with men.  Here is a scene from True Grit (2010) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpRxj0QwgjY and here is one from the  1969 version. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a2WXuX8K2wg

  • "We’re not on parade. This is a march. To secure equal rights for women. "

  • "Ladies, help me remove Mr. Stark from the scene. "

  • "There’s been enough violence! We don’t want to live like this! "

Role assigned to: Bray10

Mr. Fisk a.k.a. Kingpin is a notorious crime boss. In 1872 his criminal ways bought him favor with the Governor, making him the current Mayor of Timely.  Mr. Fisk looks to keep the Dam in place, and people out of his and Governor Roxxon’s business. He tries to make the people of Timely believe that everything he does is for them. The best way to describe Mayor Fisk, is sickly sweet. He has charm, but if he doesn’t get his way he turns violent very quickly.

We are looking for an old southern male voice. It has the charm that one might expect of a gentleman but can turn cold at the drop of a hat. Asmodeus from Supernatural has a voice that is what we are going for. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tRvPlUnbSmk

  • "Be reasonable. I know you don’t have any love for me, but consider the position I’m in. We are in. We’re both beholden to the governor. "

  • "Roxxon is the law, simpleton."

  • "An examination won’t be necessary, Doctor Banner. This man is already dead. "

Role assigned to: Arkham

Mr. Lester is a hired gun ordered to carry out Governor Roxxon’s and Mayor Fisk’s will in Timely. He is known to be a sharp shot and not scared of a fight. He travels with three other hired assassins in 1872: Elektra, Grizzly and Octo. Mr. Lester is cocky and sure of himself. He acts like a charmer but is sure to double cross anyone if he can.

We are looking for a voice that reflects the Texan accent. Mr. LaBeouf from True Grit would be a great example of this. A link from the 2010 performance can be found here… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hazLCb-K3HE

  • "Now, sheriff! Would you do us the pleasure of accompanying us to the gallows?"

  • "Grizzly, Elektra, please cover their means of egress. "

  • "Ha-Ha-Ha! You may call on me any time to conclude our business, Mister Stark. "

Mr. Williams is a hired gun for Governor Roxxon to protect the Dam. He does not mind causing people pain, especially if it gets him what he wants. While he knows the formalities of the upper class, he uses them with contempt. Smarmy is the best way to put Mr. Williams. He feels no remorse for his actions but instead a bit of glee.

Think of Mr. Williams as one of your standard upstart baddies from a John Wayne film. Or even one of the elder sons in Big Jake. A clip can be viewed here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BaFiSNgx7_k

  • "Allow me to introduce myself. I am Simon Williams, caretaker of Governor Roxxon’s River relocation project. I insist you join us for the evening. "

  • "How much more of this green goop can you drink? Talk now, and maybe I can make it easier…for you both. "

  • "How’s it taste? Who else is involved in this rebellion against the governor?"

Role assigned to: Kaktovik

Otto is a part of Bullseye’s gang of hired assassins. He is a bit gun crazy, due to the device he created that lets him carry a total of 8 guns. Otto is a maniacal gunman, loves to see his guns in action, and loves to kill.

For Otto’s voice we are hoping to get a slight northeastern accent into it, to show that at one point, before creating this device he was someone, who was educated as well as his German roots. Again, numerous examples of this in Westerns. The Magnificent Seven has a couple examples amongst their bad guys…and good guys.

  • "Lead is cheap, Mister Lester. "

  • "You coulda rode outta here, Rogers. Now we’re gonna plant you at the end of the street. "

  • "Haw Haw! She’s running him down! "

Grizzly is a mountain man, who to make some money is a hired gun. Gruff and tough he has no problem killing when hired to do so. Some would consider him a bit crazy as he dresses in bear furs. He's gruff, and he kills when hired, or ordered to.

We are looking for a western accent, the Colorado region if possible. An example of the type of voice we are going for can be found in the newer True Grit, based off of Rooster Cogburn’s voice. A clip of his voice can be found here.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?annotation_id=annotation_136275&feature=iv&list=PLC9AD2E8F747CE771&src_vid=r4SF22qFxbE&v=MHfk4edzvnI
