Reel Project: Marek Oakenveil
Project Overview
Overview: Hello! I am making a voice design showreel for different characters, and I am looking for a voice actor for Marek Oakenveil, the fire scholar mage.
The selected audition will get a video file back of the line being processed/edited with added effects. Feel free to use this in your own reel if you are selected.
Tech Specs:
.wav files only
24bit/48kHz, Mono
No EQ, Compression or noise reduction/enhancement. No dialogue edits. No Normalization.
Background: Marek Oakenveil is gentle in demeanor and slow to anger, but the fire he commands speaks volumes. He is a fire mage with deep reverence for the ancient art of fire sorcery. Driven by both curiosity and purpose, his fascination with flame is more than about power, it’s poetry, history, and a calling. Now, Marek seeks companions to join him on a journey across scorched ruins and forgotten lands, in pursuit of a lost fire relic said to hold the secrets of primordial flame. For those who earn his trust, he is a loyal protector, as this journey is sacred to him. Marek seeks the relic not only for its power, but to be seen as a scholar worthy of acclaim. For years, he’s watched his peers celebrated for groundbreaking discoveries while his own contributions were quietly dismissed, overshadowed by the legacy of his father, the head of Veil Academy. He longs to prove that his achievements are his own, earned through merit and resolve. His companions understand this quiet struggle. They stand by him not because of what he’s trying to prove, but because they already see his worth. If only Marek could believe it too.
Tone: Male, Loyal, Dangerous when provoked, gentle demeanor, wants the relic, needs validation.

SCRIPT BELOW
Tara leans back from the fire, taking in the cold night breeze.
TARA
"It feels nice to get away from town, everyone there is so boring."
TAROK
"It's not nice to talk about yourself Tara. "
Tara shoots Tarok a piercing glare and rolls her eyes. She then looks over at Marek who is playing with the fire's height with his magic, his eyes looking at the flames as if staring at memories.
TARA
What about you Marek? What were the people like in your village?
Marek looks at Tara with a slight smile, his eyes brightened from the flames.
MAREK
“Each person shines with his or her own light. No two flames of the people I know are alike. There are big flames and little flames, flames of every color. Some people’s flames are so still they don’t even flicker in the wind, while others have wild flames that fill the air with sparks. Some foolish flames neither burn nor shed light, but others blaze with life so fiercely that you can’t look at them without blinking, and if you approach you shine in the fire.”
