Love, Simon: The Musical
Project Overview
Love, Simon was a revolutionary film, one that celebrated diversity and empowered LGBT+ people across the world. The film has a huge fanbase, many of whom are extremely talented creatively - so why not give those people a way to express their love for this work of art?
Love, Simon: The Musical is a fan-based project, run for free, but many people have already expressed their support for this idea. We're looking for all sorts of people at the moment, from voice actors to script writers to video editors. If you'd like to add your input in a way not expressed here, feel free to shoot me a message and I'll see what I can do!
NB: If you're auditioning for a character, you don't have to match the movie versions! Just aim for the general personality of the character - I'm always up for seeing new approaches, and if you want to add multiple versions or extra lines, go ahead! You're also welcome to audition for as many characters as you like, although unless we're running low on actors, I won't cast the same person for more than one (major) role.
Edit: As I've had a few people ask me this: this project will be run entirely online, as a series of animatics. No travelling or in-person acting is needed, just a decent mic and a way to send in audio!

Callbacks

Casting call update
Over today I'm going to be adding descriptions to more roles, and adding new characters such as Alice, Garrett and Taylor. I'll also be changing some of the profiles slightly to fit better with the feel of this musical. Don't worry, I'll be in contact if you need to change your audition!

Simon is the main character of this musical: a closeted gay high-schooler trying to work out how his identity fits into his family. his school life, and his relationship with the anonymous Blue. Simon should be a relatable character: well-meaning, cheerful, and tries to help his friends out whenever he can, even if he ends up lying to them. He can be naive, not picking up on the things right in front of his nose, and a bit of a hopeless romantic when it comes to guessing Blue's identity.
As a leading role, you'll need a strong singing voice, and the ability to show a wide range of emotions convincingly.
(narrating) "My name’s Simon, I’m just like you. For the most part my life is totally normal. Except I have one huge-ass secret. Nobody knows I’m gay."
(angry) "I’m supposed to be the one that decides when and how and who knows, and how I get to say it, that’s supposed to be my thing!"

Leah is one of Simon's closest friends, loyal kind and funny. She's quieter than some of Simon's friends, and can be insecure at times, but is hardworking and caring.
As a lead role, you'll have to have a strong singing voice, and be able to show a range of emotions.
