Library of Ruina: The Fandub (Round 3 - The Reverb Ensemble + Lob Corp)

Project Overview

Hi there! Welcome to auditions for Library of Ruina, a fan dub project for the sequel to Lobotomy Corporation by Project Moon!

Warning: This game contains body horror, murder, and mentions of suicide and substance abuse! Though few things are explicitly shown on screen due to the game's rating, discretion is advised if these are sensitive topics!

Library of Ruina directly follows the events of Lobotomy Corporation. It follows a washed-up Fixer named Roland, who finds himself in the Library, a magical place led by the AI Angela. Angela recruits Roland as her servant to teach her about the outside world, as she is trapped in the Library and can only leave if she becomes human. To that end, she invites guests to do receptions for the Library - if they win in combat, they will get whatever books they please, but if they lose, they will be turned into books themselves. As the Library grows more notorious and more powerful people start visiting it, a plot is slowly unveiled that could change the entire City - and the Library is at the heart of it...

Submission Guidelines - Any submissions that do not meet these guidelines will be DISQUALIFIED!

  1. Submissions will only be accepted through Casting Call Club!

  2. Include your Discord in your audition description. Including it in your profile is not enough; you must specifically include it in the audition.

  3. Do not include a voice filter unless otherwise specified!

  4. This is an English dub; all characters will default to a North American accent unless otherwise specified! You won't necessarily be disqualified for other accents but do note it will very much hurt your chances if it's unfitting for the character.

  5. Absolutely no use of AI will be tolerated for submissions - by that extension, you have my word no AI tools will be used in this project!

In addition, I would prefer if you only record one take for each line, but I won't disqualify you on the spot for it! It would be appreciated if you could cut out any silence too, but that is not required.

That's all! Thank you for auditioning in advance; I look forward to hearing everyone's voices!

  • Library of Ruina: The Fandub - Round 3 - Casting Announcement

Hello, fellow librarians! The deadline has come and gone, and I could not be prouder with the auditions I've seen! Casting someone for these was extremely difficult; you guys really went all out for this! I spent a lot of time flip-flopping and deliberating... but ultimately, I could only pick one person for each role, unfortunately! I want everyone to keep in mind that they were a contender - even if I may not have cast you, it might only be because someone else fit that specific character better; it doesn't mean that your audition was bad or anything like that! There's still going to be plenty of other rounds in the future, so I'd love to hear you all come back for another shot!

But that's enough of that; without further ado, let's get into our cast for the Reverberation Ensemble and Lobotomy Corporation!

    Argalia: PnutButterPorkChops

    Pluto: The Locust

    Elena: astrorum37

    Jae-heon: TheVoHandle

    Tanya: Alkiel

    Oswald: Sneakane

    Greta: Michelle J

    Eileen: HappyVoxy

    Phillip: Goofis

    Carmen: akp

    Ayin: Penumbra

Congratulations to you guys - I've sent you all requests on Discord and will provide an invite to our fandub server! I'll be putting up a casting video at some point to showcase our lovely VAs' talents! To everyone else, as I said before - don't think that you did a poor job or that your audition wasn't bad! It just might not have been the right voice for the character in question. There's still a ton of characters left and plenty of opportunities!

The next round will cover Urban Myth; it will probably be up a while from now, as I have two videos planned in between the Urban Myth video (Canard and a Librarian feature), but I'm looking forward to seeing what you guys think nonetheless!

That's all for now! May you find your book in this place!

  • Library of Ruina: The Fandub - Round 3 - Final Week Update

Hello, fellow librarians! We only have a week left until casting - so many amazing people and auditions! I'm very excited to pick out some people to bring these wonderful characters to life!

Fun thing to look forward to: I've started recording gameplay footage for a casting announcement video that will hopefully go up shortly after everyone is casted (I haven't made any final decisions yet, so don't be discouraged from auditioning if you haven't yet!) and it'll hopefully be a fun way to pass the time! I'm looking forward to showing it to everyone - and I'll be retroactively making casting videos for the Patron Librarians and Canard voice actors as well, so don't think they'll be left out!

That's all I've got for you this time; I'll see you all in a week! Thank you for your auditions - may you find your book in this place!

  • Library of Ruina: The Fandub - Round 3 - Halfway Update

Hello, fellow librarians! First of all, can I just say - I'm absolutely floored by everything I've heard! So many wonderful auditions; just picking one is going to be difficult, and I absolutely encourage you all to audition for future rounds for a shot at another part! If you're still looking for more auditions or have other voice actor friends, I'd love to hear more of Tanya, Eileen, Greta, Jae-heon, and Ayin - just some roles to keep an eye out for!

A few things to the people who have auditioned already: remember to include your Discord in your audition description - if you haven't included it, you're welcome to go back and comment on your audition with the Discord! A few of you had really promising auditions, but I couldn't in good conscience cast you because one of the rules IS explicitly to include your Discord in the audition description. X;3

We've still got two weeks until the deadline, which may seem like a while, but that flies a lot faster than you'd expect - and I'm assuming we'll get more auditions rolling in as things go, so plan accordingly!

Oh, also - very important! If you guys haven't seen it, we actually published our intro episode so you can get an idea of what the dub will be like! Here's a link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Ad5VHegndQ

Once again, thank you all for your time, and I'll have another update next week! May you find your book in this place!

Argalia

Role assigned to: PnutButterPorkChops

Argalia is the Blue Reverberation, a powerful Color Fixer, and the closest thing to the main antagonist of Library of Ruina. He was never the most stable individual, but after the death of his sister, he snapped and turned far more violent. Don't let his charming smile and polite personality fool you; Argalia is a man willing to kill others on the turn of a dime, and has the ultimate plan of raiding the Library with a group of people called the Reverberation Ensemble, using the light within to turn everyone into monsters.

For this role, I'm looking for a medium voice that's generally polite and friendly, but with just the faintest undercurrent of menace. Argalia should sound noble and yet condescending to most, though with the ability to sound genuine towards his colleagues, as he's actually quite nice to the people in his Ensemble.

Voice description:

  • [Explaining his motivation.] "The performance that will soon echo through the City will be my journey to seek the meaning to live... and be the proof of my life."

  • [Mocking Roland after interrupting his plan to get revenge on Angela.] "You aren’t still being oversensitive because we hurt Angela’s feelings, are you? Of course you aren’t. You’re just mad because a wrench was thrown into your oh-so perfect plan."

  • [Preparing for the final battle with the Library.] "Attention, everyone! We'll claim the final fraction of the light that will make us whole. Would you please allow me to conduct this finale?"

Role assigned to: The Locust

Pluto is Argalia's right hand man. Formerly a man who got screwed via fine print thanks to Roland, he now does the same to others, using contracts with virtually unreadable fine print to get people to do what he wants. Despite this, he is unfailingly polite to everyone around him and takes no real pleasure in what he does, simply serving Argalia to make a world without lies.

For this role, I'm looking for a low-medium voice. You may use a British accent for this character if you choose, but it's not required. Pluto never gets agitated - save a single flashback that shows him getting screwed by Roland - so being able to stay smooth and polite is the only real prerequisite to this role.

Voice description:

  • [Showing a contract he issued.] "To summarize the point, we will provide Cane Office with information about W Corp's Singularity. And in return, Cane Office will secure books from the Library for us, when we want them."

  • [Introducing himself to Hokma.] "You are quite the polite gentleman. This was unexpected from the Library that was rumored to be brutal. Not to mention, this place also has a... rather quiet and moody atmosphere. Not bad."

  • [Explaining his motivation.] "If I had to state one thing I believe in... It would be Sir Argalia and the new world he shall create. If I can close my eyes and open them again to a new world forever devoid of lies... I will readily believe in him."

Role assigned to: astrorum37

Initially appearing as a kindhearted and levelheaded nurse, Elena turns out to be someone far more sinister: Blood-Red Night, a vicious Bloodfiend who was taken down in the past by Roland and his wife. She has since returned and joined the Reverberation Ensemble. Violent and sadistic, she uses her past as an excuse to draw blood from others with no remorse, and is easily one of the most dangerous members of her group.

For this role, I'm looking for a low-medium voice who can do a good creepy monotone to reflect this gal's lack of empathy. Her introduction has her pretend to be a normal person, so I've included that as the very first line - but the other two should be read in a bored, almost disinterested tone.

Voice description:

  • [Pretending to be a kindly nurse.] "I've used WARP trains quite often, you see. I'd always have a pleasant 10-second trip to the destination. Do you know anything about accidents like this, doctor?"

  • [Acting dismissive towards her murder victims.] "They were just crude contraptions of flesh lacking their own will, unfortunately. It wasn't what I was looking for. I was hoping for ones whose veins were flowing with blood that's a little more enticing..."

  • [Reminiscing on why humans treat Bloodfiends differently.] "Seeing your kind lavishly pursue your desires while we’re left in the dark... It’s only natural for me to feel indignant, isn’t it? If they won’t reconsider how they see us no matter what we do, we’ll gladly stop holding back and live as we like."

Role assigned to: TheVoHandle

Jae-heon masquerades as a doctor alongside Elena, but quickly reveals himself as the Puppeteer, a cold and calculating man who turned to the Reverberation Ensemble after Roland ruined his one chance to bring his son back from the dead. He has the ability to turn others into living puppets of flesh and bone. Though soft spoken and coldly sarcastic, he can be quite grandiose with his speeches and is capable of genuine anger, only appearing friendly towards Elena.

For this role, I'm looking for a low-medium voice that can stay cold and professional, yet take a twisted pride in his work. Be ready to go on a lot of long speeches, cause Jae-heon LOVES to yap. You may use a Korean accent for this character if you choose, but it's not required. In addition, you may use a voice filter for him, but that is also not required. Jae-heon is mostly a cold character, but has moments of contempt and genuine fury - these should be reflected in your audition, especially as he will appear in a flashback showing Roland destroying his work.

Voice description:
  • male young adult

  • [Showing contempt for first-class passengers on a WARP train that he's about to turn into puppets.] "You spend your hard-earned cash for a first class ticket to keep yourself safe and sound from the torture of time... But now you're about to suffer something entirely else. You unfortunately run into the likes of us and meet a terrible fate. Just because you've taken first class seats."

  • [Angrily confronting Roland on what he did.] "You had no right to kill my son who was just about to be given new life, or judge me for my actions! That day, staring at the fire which engulfed all I had, I swore to myself... That I'd do everything... to make you suffer the same."

  • [Explaining to Chesed what he makes his puppets for.] "I take out the useless chunks of meat... and fill their insides with the emotional baggage I’m carrying. I can breathe easy after I indulge in my craft... That’s when I feel alive at last. Do you see how dear the puppets are to me now?"

Tanya

Role assigned to: Alkiel

Also known as L'heure de Loup, Tanya was formerly a member of the Middle before Roland attacked it. She's an incredibly tough and capable fighter who takes her foes on with raw strength, and has a no-nonsense personality to match. Still, she's rather casual towards allies and enemies alike, carrying an unwavering confidence and believing might makes right in all aspects of life.

For this role, I'm looking for a low voice with a distinct rough edge to it. She has a boxer theme in her dialogue and fighting style, so some sort of Brooklyn accent or something similar is an option, but not required. Tanya is a pretty straightforward character - powerful and only really valuing strength. Her voice should reflect that, sounding tough, confident, and not to be messed with.

Voice description:

  • [Winning a fight against a hundred people without breaking a sweat.] "Pah. Weaksauce. I coulda crushed you like bugs even before I turned into what I am now. Alright, why don'tcha gather round and kneel."

  • [About to fight Gebura and her librarians.] "You got a ragtag band of dummies to fight me, eh...? Do I look like a joke to you or what. Still, the highlight of the match is the woman who was once called the Red Mist... This oughta be fun."

  • [Explaining her motivations.] "Strength is the most honest and clear way to express yourself. I prove that I'm stronger than you, and that's it. No tricks or lies involved. I want a world where power means everything. And that's why I'm helping mister orchestrator."

Oswald

Role assigned to: Sneakane

Oswald, the 8 o'Clock Ringmaster, is an eccentric clown with a fun-loving personality. He is responsible for breaking Phillip to join the Reverberation Ensemble. A lot of what he says is seemingly nonsensical metaphors, but he has a seemingly polite personality and is open to banter... but don't let that fool you, as he's quite a capable fighter and his odd morality means people tend to underestimate just how vicious he can be.

For this role, I'm looking for a medium-high voice that can sound exactly like a charismatic ringmaster or silly clown... while also having the composure to not crack while saying any of the stupid things Oswald says on a regular basis. He's not really a monster clown or anything, so you don't need to try to do a "scary" voice - just sound fun and lighthearted.

Voice description:

  • [Introducing himself to circus guests.] "My earnest efforts to bring merry smiles to people were adored by Ms. Sun, who then whispered to me that she will make my wish come true. It was the outrageous, head-blowing wish to frolic with my secret pals!"

  • [Arriving at the Library.] "This place has an unfamiliar scent in the air, hmm? Ah! Down there is… a river that looks like a very large stream containing blueberries and juiced mountain snake berries… An olfactory mixture of mint and clove… would make a stingy scent like this!"

  • [Arguing with Tiphereth over if one should hold expectations.] "Did a blade of grass ask for you to have them? Did the gentle sun allow you to have them? Who in the world told you it’s right to hold expectations? Hahaha! That tingles my mouth almost as much as a celery leaf does! Oh how hilarious!!!"

Role assigned to: Michelle J

Greta is the last surviving member of the Eight Chefs after her cohorts all cooked themselves in a fruitless pursuit to make the perfect dish. She joined the Reverberation Ensemble to get the perfect meals for her dishes. She is loud, crude, and about as blood-hungry as you'd expect a giant shark woman to be; while capable of philosophical moments, she's not particularly complex and is just looking for a good meal.

For this role, I'm looking for a low-to-medium voice similar to Tanya's, but far more boisterous and brash. I don't know exactly WHAT kind of accent would fit her, but I can definitely see a multitude of them fitting - so if you wish to incorporate one, you may, but that's not required. Greta is a very expressive and bloodthirsty character, very excited about her craft, and her voice should reflect that.

Voice description:
  • female adult
  • [Enthusiastic over skewered bodies.] "Hawhawhaw! Look at how the meat's skewered nicely on these sticks... it's like I'm looking at fine brochettes with a delicious smell! I know! This'll make a perfect treat if I spread a mix of soy sauce and ground garlic on this and then grill it!"

  • [Explaining her cooking philosophy to Hod.] "How you cook doesn’t matter! So long the end result is a treat!!! Nobody gives a rat’s buttered buns about what kinda ingredients are used in their food. It’s the taste that matters!"

  • [Explaining her motivations for joining Argalia.] "The ingredients we get today are either greasy fatsos who ate too much or skinny twigs with barely any meat... Neither are any good! Now the filthy flavor is seeping into the dishes we cook!! Our conductor will be the one to fix that! He’ll take me to a world where there are pure and clean ingredients aplenty!"

Eileen

Role assigned to: HappyVoxy

Eileen is the leader of the Church of Gears, a faction in the City dedicated to nihilism and surrendering yourself to the City's "gears" so you can accept being another cog in the machine. After Argalia rescues her, she goes on to join the Reverberation Ensemble. Eileen is a charismatic cult leader who's polite outwardly, but also quite ethereal and seemingly a bit lost in her own little world.

For this role, I'm looking for a medium, softspoken voice that has a distinct elegance to it. She should sound almost otherworldly and dreamy in her tone, yet still capable of bursts of passion and emotion when the time calls for it. Other than that, she's a pretty simple character.

Voice description:
  • female young adult
  • [Patiently explaining her philosophy to a worshipper.] "The problem is that you see yourself as an aimless gear. All we need to do is find the purpose we were born to mesh with. You shall become a unique gear that cannot be replaced by any other."

  • [Trying to convince Yesod to join her.] "You are making a sorrowful face. You're in pain... You must've suffered like I have. Had you become a gear and rolled along, you would've been filled with bliss, rather than pain... Why won't you see? You are no different from us. Cease your suffering, and accept the gear. Walk the path of the gears."

  • [Feverently praising her boss.] "Don't we look so blissful? A gear with a purpose is content, for its rotation has meaning. Humans are cogs in the machination that is the City. Someone has to make those cogs turn. That way, the city can run correctly. He is guiding use to the right path. For us, who are incapable of doing anything on our own. Praise be to Argalia!!"

Role assigned to: Goofis

Phillip was once an ordinary Grade 5 Fixer, but after losing one too many people to the Library and being mentally broken by Oswald, he transformed into a monster called the Crying Children. He was manipulated into joining the Reverberation Ensemble afterwards, and stands with them simply because he has nothing left. While he was once a kind yet cowardly man who learned to stand and fight, that side of him fades post-transformation, and he's left as an unemotive figure who has no real feelings.

This role is easily one of the most complex ones in the lineup, as Phillip goes through a lot of character development throughout the game. I'm looking for a medium voice able to convey his kind, yet cowardly self-loathing at first and then swap to a cold monotone midway through the game. Phillip has a lot of moments of grief, so capturing those is important too. The following lines are from three different parts of his life, in order: before, during, and after said transformation.

Voice description:
  • male young adult
  • [Chatting with his old mentor, Salvador.] "So the Library took Walter's life, then... I'm sorry for your loss. I heard he was your colleague when you were working together with that association. It must be heartbreaking."

  • [Having been completely mentally shattered, in total despair.] "I... don't want to hear anything. I don't want to see anything... or speak anything... I'm tired of it all. Right now, all I want is to just... cry out loud."

  • [Blank and unemotive; explaining his motivations to Malkuth.] "I haven't come here to take revenge, though. Most would say the same. All I want is a free life, one where I'm not chained to anything. I'm tired of having to worry about taking flak for everything I do."

Role assigned to: akp

Carmen is the former founder of L Corp who attempted suicide after an incident at the corporation, but was lobotomized to create Angela and be a key piece of the "Seed of Light" project. As it turns out, Carmen is basically the true villain of the game, as she has been choosing the guests the Library receives and instigating Distortions that cause people to turn into monsters. Angela confronts her at the end of the game and manages to defeat her - though this only slows her down a bit, Angela resolves to permanently defeat Carmen in the future.

For this role, I'm looking for a low-medium voice able to convey the charisma that Carmen is heavily implied to have. She's not just a scientist; she also has heavy vibes of being a preacher, and her voice should reflect that. Carmen doesn't get many actual lines in game (in fact, most of her lines are while disguised as Angela) but she needs to make an impact as one of the few villains who can actually outmatch Argalia.

Voice description:
  • female young adult
  • [Musing on her past circumstances.] "I thought sacrificing myself for everyone's sake would be the perfect ending... but that wasn't the case. I doubt there's anyone in this world who can sincerely decide to sacrifice themselves for the sake of others. Humans can only love themselves, after all."

  • [Lamenting that she couldn't get Angela on her side.] "You were created to resemble me, and expected to think like me, but here we are... It seems our paths will diverge from now on. I'll continue to go my way, and I hope you'll be able to stay on yours."

Ayin

Role assigned to: Penumbra

Ayin was the former L Corp owner, also simply known as A. Featured heavily in Lobotomy Corporation, he used countless time loops to create the Seed of Light in an attempt to improve the City... even if that came at the cost of treating his creation Angela and his former employees like garbage. He's only shown in flashbacks, but he's portrayed as a very bitter individual focused on his goals above all else.

For this role, I'm looking for a low-medium voice able to portray the focused, single-minded personality Ayin has. Cold and callous, but... he does have a single line where he expresses regret for what he did, which I've included in the auditions.

Voice description:
  • male young adult
  • [Coldly dismissing Angela.] "I couldn't care less about a machine's name. You're the machine that must lead us out of the pits of hell. Angela.

  • [Regretful for his actions; speaking to Angela directly after she beats Carmen.] "... I'm sorry. (resigned sigh) And good job."
