Letters to the Party (Voices for letters to players in D&D)

Letters to the Party (Voices for letters to players in D&D)

Project Overview

I run a Dungeons and Dragons campaign with four friends that have been playing for over 2 years now and I'm planning for them to receive multiple letters from very close allies/NPCs that they've come to know over the years/months. I'd like it to be a special event, and if possible, those that get the roles could make a return if something similar would happen.

I thank everyone for their time and effort in even just considering, I'm hoping this will just blow my players away. Thank you!

Runen (Roo-nen) is a Goliath male who towers above most and has a pretty lighthearted mood about most things, but is concerned about the people around him. He doesn't really have an accent, but a deeper than average voice should work, nothing too overboard though.

Also, the name "Ravak" is Rah-Vok

  • (Disheartened, then grateful) "She's not looking too good, but she's still alive, and that's all I can really ask for. You guys did a lot for us back in the city and I appreciate it."

  • (Lighthearted) "Oh, right, and tell Ravak that next time we meet I'm going to have to teach him how to take down a man with his bare hands like I did."

  • (Hesitant, then Relieved) "When Ambrose said he could send letters through a magical bird to you guys, I just figured he was losing his mind, but if you guys manage to get this I'm glad you all are still alive."

Siegrun is a Human woman. Mature, but still fit enough to fight. She's armless, but there's strange mercurial limbs in place of them now, allowing her to shape them into blades and shields. She's seen a lot, and is much more relaxed than she was when she was younger. She just came out of a fight after being knocked unconscious from a Fire elemental, and is badly wounded and separated from the party.

Siegrun's voice is fairly light, doesn't show much age, but her composure is audible even in a weakened state.

Runen is pronounced Roo-Nen

  • (Tired) "Don't let Runen worry you, I'm fine. I've been in worse scrapes, and I can only imagine what I looked like then."

  • (Worried) "Please, just be careful out there. Gods know what's out there now, and I've heard the reports. Elementals, Fiends, Demons, even Celestials..."

  • "Write back, send it with the bird... thing and it'll bring it back to us. Please hurry, and let us know where you've gone. We need to regroup when we can."

Ambrose is an elderly arcanist who is highly knowledgable on magical anomalies and artifacts. He was once a mystic, but due to an incident while Plane Shifting, his psychic power was ripped from him, aging him quickly and leaving him powerless for years. He knows what he's talking about and will definitely go out of his way to explain why there's a simple answer, even if he ends up being wrong.

Khamontec (Caw-Mon-Tech)

Runen (Roo-Nen)

  • "If you are reading this, that means you are either alive and well, or someone's somehow magically grafted your magical identity onto their own body. Either way, please, read on."

  • (Casual, steady rambling) "If you haven't heard, creatures that haven't been seen in hundreds of years are appearing all over the world and it's not stopping anytime soon. The only thing we haven't seen yet is Giants, and those terrify me, but we'll talk about that in depth when we reunite."

  • "We're on our way to Khamontec, against Runen's will. Luckily slipping some herbs into his drink knocked him out for a few hours so he doesn't have a choice after he finishes his letter, which is included."
