KOTOR 2: FATE OF THE WITNESS
Project Overview
Project Description: The Fate of the Witness
A fan film exploring the untold origin of Darth Nihilus.
Before he became the devastating Lord of Hunger, a mere whisper of a presence that devoured life and Force alike, he was Jax—a Jedi Knight fighting for the Republic in the brutal Mandalorian Wars. Our fan film, Fate of the Witness, plunges viewers directly into the heart of the galaxy's most cataclysmic conflict: the Battle of Malachor V.
This project aims to visually depict the sheer, unbridled chaos and unimaginable scale of the final confrontation at Malachor V—a sight long theorized and longed for by fans of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Witness Republic Hammerheads and mighty Centurion-class battlecruisers clash against overwhelming Mandalorian fleets, amidst a maelstrom of turbolaser fire and exploding starfighters.
But the true horror lies beyond the battle itself. As Revan's desperate gambit unleashes the Mass Shadow Generator, the very fabric of space and the planet Malachor V itself are ripped asunder, crushing fleets into a perpetual graveyard. It is in this crucible of cosmic devastation that Jax, alongside his compassionate Jedi companion Seris Vale, experiences the ultimate betrayal and the unmaking of his soul.
Fate of the Witness is a harrowing journey through the eye of the storm, chronicling Jax's desperate fight for survival, the tragic loss of his humanity, and his horrifying transformation into the void incarnate: Darth Nihilus.

Role: Jedi Knight Jax (Lead, Male, 20s-early 30s)
Jax is a dedicated and capable Jedi Knight serving in the Republic Navy under Revan during the harrowing Mandalorian Wars. He embodies the core tenets of the Jedi Order: compassion, discipline, and unwavering loyalty to the Republic. While proficient in combat and strategy, Jax possesses a profound empathy that makes him deeply affected by the escalating brutality of the war. He carries the weight of every loss, every civilian casualty, and the moral ambiguities of fighting an enemy as ruthless as the Mandalorian Neo-Crusaders.
His close bond with fellow Jedi Knight Seris serves as his crucial moral compass, grounding him amidst the chaos. Beneath his controlled exterior, there's a subtle vulnerability – a deeply felt emotional core that he strives to keep in balance, but which makes him acutely susceptible to the horrors he witnesses. We need an actor who can convey earnest conviction, simmering unease, and the quiet struggle of a good man being pushed to his breaking point. His voice should command authority when needed, but also carry a warmth that foreshadows the terrible emptiness to come.

Seris, are you alright? I know this isn't what we trained for. Not... this kind of ending. Just stay close. We'll see this through, together
SERIS! No! Take my hand! Hold on! I won't lose you! I can't... I won't...!
Seris...? No... what is this? What have I... (voice cracks, gasps, a shudder runs through him as a dark energy pulls from her)... It's wrong... but it's... it's empty... so empty?
Role: Jedi Knight Seris Vale (Supporting Lead, Female, 20s-early 30s)
Seris Vale is a compassionate and insightful Jedi Knight, a beacon of calm and conviction amidst the escalating horrors of the Mandalorian Wars. She serves alongside Jedi Knight Jax, her closest confidante and, crucially, his moral anchor. Seris embodies the purest ideals of the Jedi Order, holding onto hope and empathy even as the galaxy descends into brutality. She is observant, deeply caring, and possesses a quiet strength that manifests not in overt power, but in her unwavering moral clarity and ability to ground those around her.
Her bond with Jax is profound; she often senses his inner turmoil and offers gentle guidance, acting as his conscience. As Malachor V becomes a vortex of destruction, Seris faces the terror with courageous resolve, but also with deep sorrow for the countless lives lost. We need an actor who can convey genuine warmth, empathetic wisdom, and an inner resilience that makes her ultimate fate all the more devastating.

So much rage... on both sides. They fight for dominion, we for peace, yet the dust we leave is the same. The Force... it weeps today, Jax. Can you feel it?
No! This isn't... this isn't right! Jax, it's devouring us! All of us! The Force itself is being ripped apart! I... I don't think we can stop this...
Jax, keep your focus. I know it's overwhelming, but we must anchor ourselves. This pressure... it's not just the Mandalorians. Something else is stirring on Malachor. Stay with me.
Role: Darth Traya (Lead, Female, Appears 50s-70s, though timeless due to the Force)
Description:
Darth Traya is a figure of immense wisdom, profound cynicism, and chilling manipulation. Once a Jedi Master known as Kreia, she became disillusioned with the Jedi Order's failings, then equally so with the destructive simplicity of the Sith. Now, as Darth Traya, she is a "wound" in the Force in her own right, embodying detachment and the desire to break the galaxy's connection to the Force itself.
She is not a brute, but a schemer and a teacher who seeks to understand and dismantle. Her voice carries the weight of centuries of knowledge and bitter experience – authoritative, calm, and often laced with subtle condescension or profound sorrow. We need an actor who can convey layers of intellect, a chilling detachment, and a deep-seated weariness with the endless conflict of the Force. Her power comes from her mind and her words, more than her lightsaber.

They preach balance, these Jedi, yet cling to their dogma. The Sith preach power, yet cling to their rage. Both are blind. This is what their grand war has wrought. And you, Lord of Hunger, you will be a vessel for a greater understanding... or a greater emptiness.
The Force screams in your presence, Nihilus. A raw, unthinking hunger. You consume all that sustains you. Most would call it a curse. I call it... a unique talent. But talent without direction is merely chaos.
You crave. You consume. But can you control it, Nihilus? Can you see beyond the immediate satisfaction to the true nature of your affliction? Or are you merely a conduit for destruction? Prove to me you are more than a screaming vortex, or you are useless to me.
Role: Revan (Cameo, Male, Any age appearing adult)
Description:
The pivotal, enigmatic leader of the Republic's forces. This role is less about screen time and more about impactful presence. Revan needs to convey immense authority, strategic brilliance, and a chilling resolve, hinting at the moral ambiguity of their actions during the Mandalorian Wars. The voice should be commanding, confident, and perhaps carry a subtle undercurrent of the burden of their choices.

The Republic bleeds. Worlds fall before the Mandalorian crusade. We stand at the precipice of oblivion. But not today. Today, we fight back! Today, we reclaim our resolve! Join the war! Join us! For the Republic! For the Light! FOR THE GALAXY!
Role: Master Kavar (Cameo, Male, Appears 40s-60s)
Description:
A respected Jedi Master known for his wisdom, his strong connection to the Force, and his concern for the Jedi Knights serving under Revan. Master Kavar embodies the cautious, traditional wisdom of the Jedi Order. He needs to convey deep concern and a sense of foreboding, acting as a voice of warning or apprehension.

Jax. The shadow of this war stretches long, even into the Force. Revan’s victories… they come at a cost that even the Jedi may not be prepared to bear. Be wary of the paths forged in desperation. The Force is not ours to break, only to understand.
Role: Republic Trooper (Small Role/Cameo, Male/Female, Any age appearing adult)
Description:
A steadfast soldier of the Republic Army, dedicated to defending the galaxy against the Mandalorian threat. This role requires conveying discipline, resilience, and the grit of a soldier fighting on the front lines. Needs to look and sound like a combat-hardened professional.
There Can be more than one trooper.

Role: Republic Commander (Small Role/Cameo, Male/Female, Appears 30s-50s)
Description:
An experienced officer in the Republic Navy, tasked with leading ships into the brutal conflicts of the Mandalorian Wars. This character exudes authority and tactical understanding, making critical decisions under immense pressure. The voice should be clear, commanding, and resolute.

Concentrate fire on their capital ship! Maintain formation Gamma-7! Republic fighters, break off and engage their Basilisk droids! No retreat, Commander – not an inch!
Role: Meetra Surik (Cameo, Female, Appears 20s-30s)
Description:
A Jedi General under Revan's command, known later as the Jedi Exile. At Malachor V, she is still deeply connected to the Force, but even at this stage, she holds a unique, almost detached perspective, witnessing the atrocities with a quiet intensity. She carries the burden of Revan's plan.

His words... they ignite the spark. But the embers of this fire, Jax, will burn for a very long time. This victory will echo in every fiber of the Force. And we will bear witness to its silence.
Role: Jacen Deris (Small Role, Male, 20s-30s)
Description:
A skilled Republic starfighter pilot. Jacen embodies the bravery and sometimes grim humor of those who face the enemy in the cockpit. He's one of the countless unsung heroes of the Republic. Needs to convey urgency and focus in a high-stakes combat scenario.
