Kare First Love, Full Cast Manga Voiceover
This project is a manga dub of the first two chapters of the shoujo manga Kare First Love. An award winning romance manga from 2002. These first two chapters will cover half of volume one. This project has potential to be expanded to more chapters and volumes.
This is a passion project of mine that I plan to stream to sites like YouTube. As this is a fan project of an existing work that I do not own, I do not plan to profit off this project in anyway.
The end goal is to create a high quality audio drama of the manga, including sound effects, background music, and motion comic animations for specific panels.
For now, I need talented voice actors to bring these characters to life. Dependable equipment, professional reliability, and flexibility is a top priority.
The VA script and Manga pages are side by side, and all roles are colored coded for clarity. As such, the file size is large- access to google drive is a must.
In preparation for this project, I worked with a photoshop artist to manually wipe all speech bubbles, and tweaked the dated localization to sound more natural. I also picked a cleaner typeface than what was used in the original.

Voice Actor
Female lead. High-school-aged voice.
Karin is sweet, shy, and eager to avoid conflict. On the outside, she's an avoidant people pleaser, her speaking voice is often softer, hesitant, and restrained. Meanwhile her internal monologue is much faster, sharper, and completely unrestrained. The actor needs strong comedic timing and a wide range that includes embarrassment, irritation, panic, tenderness, and genuine vulnerability.
Avoid: Making her constantly timid, helpless, or overly childish. Karin has a strong personality and plenty of anger and sarcasm beneath the surface.

(flustered, pissed, and crying) You are playing with me. You keep saying things like “how cute!”...! And then you kissed me. I can’t take this anymore!
Voice Actor
Kiriya is confident, playful, flirtatious, and sometimes shamelessly teasing. He usually sounds comfortable in his own skin and enjoys getting reactions from Karin, but his charm should feel natural rather than calculated. Beneath the teasing, he has moments of genuine concern, warmth, and emotional sincerity.
Avoid: Playing him as predatory, sleazy, or aggressively “cool.”

(Defensive, frustrated) What did she think I…?! C’mon it was an accident!

Voice Actor
Yuka is the typical spoiled, selfish, high school queen bee. The fake friend that knows how to keep people dependent on her. Sassy, flirty, and extremely manipulative. Around boys, she often adopts a bright, sweet, flirtatious voice; she'll do anything to get what she wants- and crush anyone in her way.
Avoid: Making her too one note, there's layers to the manipulation

Karin's classmate. Nanri is cool, composed, direct, and emotionally self-assured. She initially appears distant or intimidating, but she has a subtle warmth and an older-sister quality when speaking with Karin.

(Big sister vibe) Hmm. That’s a pretty nice shot… for a polaroid. The guy from this morning… Is he your boyfriend?
(firm, matter of fact) You just have to say “No” and that’s the end of it.
Voice Actor
Kiriya's friend. He's the guy that desperately wants to be god's gift to women. Misogynistic and shallow- think Rexplode without the character development.
Tohru requires broad comic energy, and youthful overconfidence.

(whiney) What? I *am* desperate, Hiromu. What if we went out as a group? You can introduce me to a bunch of girls, and I’ll pick the hottest one.
(Loud whispering) Hey, listen. I know the other girls are total duds, but I came here for Yuka, so you’ll leave her for me, right?
That was hilarious this morning, right? I mean, we’re looking through the viewfinder and all of sudden— GIANT GLASSES! Huh, Kiriya?

Kiriya's friend. He's a relaxed, intelligent, and matter-of-fact type of guy. Likes being included, but gets tired of his friends antics pretty quickly.

(said matter of fact) Tohru, you’re starting to sound desperate.
(nevermind, you're both hopeless) Honestly, you’re both desperate…
(strained laughter) Yeah, sure, go nuts.

Karin attends an all girl's private school. I'll need voices to gossip, giggle, and provide backup to Yuka's antics.
