Jootloid: Return to Classic Vocaloid
Project Overview
Back in 2004, Yamaha introduced a music software known as Vocaloid, allowing users to add robotic sounding vocals to their project without the need to hire a professional singer. Three years later, shortly after the release of Vocaloid 2, Hatsune Miku released, taking the world by storm. This began a fandom and many fan works, while the vocal synthesis world took on a very nightcore-esque, vague tech sci-fi aesthetic typical of late 90s to early 2010s anime culture.
However, in recent years, this aesthetic has changed, feeling more corporate and with less character year by year. And so, this project is meant to be a return to those mid 2000s nostalgia with the release of a Vocaloid 2 inspired UTAU voicebank, Jootloid!
Several pieces of early Vocaloid inspired artwork, an original CV voicebank with appends, and all backed by someone with years of experience in the UTAU and Vocaloid engines, all to bring back a small sliver of the fandom energy from back in the days of Vocaloid 2 and the first vocaloid voicebanks. Now, we just need a voice provider to voice the dang thing!
A standard voicebank is planned, but so are a series of append vocals / tone changes, done in a similar manner to the crypton append series.
