It Hurts to be Pretty Casting Call (Round 2)
Project Overview
Introduction
It Hurts to be Pretty is about a high school girl named Tracey. Her life is as normal as any high school student. She is known for her beauty and attracts many others. One guy particularly is named Spirit. He has been in love with her since she enrolled in this school. Tracey is also in love with him. This may seem typical, but it isn't. She has a bully named Bonnie. She constantly teases her and makes fun of her just because of her beauty, she is jealous. Bonnie also likes Spirit, but he didn't like her back. Bonnie is determined to do whatever it takes to make Spirit love her. Tracey also has a 'secret admirer' (not so secret) that likes her as well. His name is Lawrence (Slush). Ever since he saw Tracey, he has been in love with her. It broke his heart when he found out that she loves Spirit. Now Slush is determined to make Tracey love him, whatever the cost.
Rules and Guidelines for Auditioning:
- This round of auditions will close September 21st, 2022. We do not plan on extending this deadline.
- A discord account and/or hangouts is mandatory to partake in the project.
- As per Discord's terms of service, you must be at least 13 years old to audition. NO EXCEPTIONS.
- You must follow us here on CCC. Otherwise we will not be able to contact you.
- You may audition for (and even be cast in) multiple roles.
- We are looking for clear and quality audio. No fans, chatter, or other background noise please!

Harmonie is a senior in high school at the start of the series, and she goes by she/her. Harmonie is friends with both Pixy and Bonnie as she is a member of their trio. Pixy and Harmonie have a closer connection and often always butt heads with each other, in an attempt to one up the other. The two are both related by marriage, and the two always knew each other since they were children. In the series, Harmonie is described as being humorous, ambitious, and flamboyant.
(Annoyed) Don't touch me. Get away from me.
(Annoyed) Get out of my way, I won't tell you again.
(Angry) You stand there and accuse me, but where were you at the time?
Pixy is a senior in high school at the start of the series and goes by she/her. With being friends with Bonnie, she is a part of the trio alongside Harmonie. Pixy knows that she’s smarter than Harmonie, and the two often will have arguments about who’s smarter than the other. Pixy is described as being smart, ambitious, and an intense perfectionist.
(Angry) What's that smug look for? You think you can do any better?
(Lying) I swear it wasn't me.
(Annoyed) What was that for?
Slick Burns is a senior, who goes by he/him. He has already turned eighteen near the beginning of the story. He and Spirit always stood by each other despite uncomfortable circumstances. Slick has many creative talents, however, he’s always thought about what he’d do in his future. Despite his thick exterior, Slick is sensitive and can empathize well. People often think that he’s just another random guy with no chance in the world, however, he’s a lot more creative than people take him to be.
(Teasing) Yeah, yeah. Whatever, Ms. Popular.
Bro, did you hear what you just said? The lead role, and yet, you're not making a big deal out of it!
Just like old times? Like that one time during eighth grade when Tracey’s face got smashed in her cake? Yep. Totally remember that.
Amaya is a freshman in college during her first appearance in the series and goes by the pronouns she/her. Amaya has already turned nineteen at the time of her debut and is in a romantic relationship with Slick. She is the older sister of Kiki, and the two share a good, mutual sibling bond with each other. She’s shown to be very laid-back, smart, and humorous.
Hey, just checking in on you sis. Oh, hey Tracey. Happy early birthday by the way.
Nope. Not tonight. Cramming in for an exam. I’ll be out for cake though. Have fun you all.
How about a little midnight snack?
Kathryn Blue is Tracey’s mother. Kathryn is first seen as a stern mother who deeply cares about her daughter, as it shows to Kathryn’s protective nature. Kathryn is married to Tracey’s father who is out for work throughout the course of the series. Kathryn is often described as a loving, serious, and hardworking parent who just wants the best for Tracey.
I care about you, Tracey. As your mother, it’s my responsibility that I care about my own daughter.
Hey, don’t listen to them. I mean, you do have your friends, right? I know it’s easier said than done. But, don’t let them get to you. If they do, then they’ll deal with me instead.
Of course. I’ll go make dinner soon, you can go play with your friends, or whatever you guys do.
Principal Collins is shown as the principal of Lakewood High School at the start of her debut. Principal Collins is a middle-aged woman who cares about the student body as a whole and tries her hardest to do all that she can. She’s a stern and serious woman, however, she has a kind and caring nature that shows throughout the whole school.
(Serious) Now, I know you two must be wondering what this is all about. However, I’m hoping that you two will be accountable young ladies, and verify this information.
(Annoyed) Take a seat, we're gonna be here a while.
(Angry) You should've thought about that before you got into a fight.
A biology teacher who is strict, but cares about her students.
I hope that those essays will be done by the next class period. Class is dismissed for the day.
(Serious) Don't lie to me.
(Serious) You're not a very convincing liar.
