Indiana Jones - Raiders of the Lost Ark - Fan-Made Radio Drama

Project Overview

It's complete! You can watch the episode here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0uQe0QsMbQ

===================

UPDATE 3: Casting is complete! Thanks to all who auditioned.

===================

UPDATE 2: I'm deciding on roles this week, but if you're still looking to audition, I'll keep casting open another few days.

===================

UPDATE: I'm extending the audition period for a month to get more submissions. Still looking for a solid Indiana Jones (deeper voice!) and other roles.

===================

I've been a huge fan of the Star Wars Radio Dramas by Brian Daley, and years ago I got a production script of Raiders of the Lost Ark, which I decided to take and adapt to radio, like what was done for Star Wars. Here's the result, which has been sitting on the shelf for over 25 years.

I was always planning on doing 10 episodes (I ended up writing the first 7). The script should be familiar to those who know Raiders, though some scenes never made it in the film, or were later repurposed in sequels.

This is an audition for the First Episode, which features the opening scene in its entirety from Raiders of the Lost Ark.

If this works out, I will plan to post this on YouTube or as a podcast. This project is just for fun - please try out if you are looking for experience doing radio dramas.

NOTE FOR AUDITIONING: Don't worry about multiple takes of the same lines - give me your best read, and if you want to try an alternate, read through the lines a second time from the beginning (just make sure it truly sounds different)

  • The year is 1936. The threat of war looms large in Europe as Adolf Hitler rises to supreme power as head of the Nazi Party in Germany.

  • Now, deep in the lush rain forests on the eastern slopes of the Andes in South America, in a place known as “The Eyebrow of the Jungle,” Indiana Jones makes his way across a narrow trail in search of fortune... and glory.

  • This is it. The Temple of the Chachapoyan [CHA-CHA-POH-YEN] Warriors. This is where Forrestal cashed in years ago. Another archaeologist. He was good... he was very, very good.

  • That must be Forrestal. So that’s why no one heard from him back at the University. Poor fool probably never knew what hit him. (Sighs)

  • (Yelling) Fine! (To himself) Okay Jones, now how much can this statue weigh... This bag’s probably too heavy... better get rid of some dirt... okay. (Yelling) I’m going to make the switch, Satipo! Get ready to run! (To himself) Okay, here goes! One... Two... THREE!

  • I wouldn’t worry about your friend. From the poison arrows in his back, I’d say that the Hovitos you see here already took care of him.

  • Indiana Jones! Again we see there is nothing you can possess which I cannot take away. And you thought I’d given up.

  • (Chuckling) Yes, too bad. You could warn them - if only you spoke Hovitos. (Yelling) Hotana Motusu! Robah-ta!
