Audiobook Production โ Seeking Voice Actors & Sound Designers
Iโm producing an audiobook for my novel, If Time Were Real, and Iโm looking for talented voice actors and sound designers to bring it to life in a cinematic, immersive experience.
What I Need:
Voice Actors:
Greek, Danish, and British accents preferred.
Adult male & female voices needed.
One child voice (preferably British).
Theatrical Performance: This should feel like a movie, not just a readingโemotion, depth, and strong delivery are key.
Sound Effects & Music: The final product should have immersive sound design to enhance the storytelling (background sounds, subtle effects, and music where appropriate).
Details:
This is a paid project with credit given.
Must be high-quality recordings (no background noise).
If selected, Iโll provide script excerpts for auditioning.
The audiobook will be distributed widelyโthis is a great opportunity to showcase talent.
This project is still open and accepting submissions.
The uneven distribution of dialogue is currently being addressed. The male voice actor will narrate and cover most male characters (Estimate ~41, 000 words), while the female actor will voice 3โ4 rarer characters (Estimate ~6, 500 words). Iโm structuring payment accordingly.
Audio Estimate: 5.2 - 5.5 hours
My total VO budget is $580.
Hereโs the proposed breakdownโฆ
$210 for 86% of the work (4.4 - 4.7 hours)
$100 for 14% of the work (0.7 - 0.8 hours)
female portion estimate increased $20 = $120
Male Voice Actor: $210 flat rate
Female Voice Actor: $120 flat rate
This leaves $250 for Sound Design,
5.2 - 5.5 hours, $45.50-48/hour flat rate
Sound Designer: $250 flat rate

There is one character at the beginning of the book: The Oracle. She is only a few pages and then all female characters disappear for at least half of the book. If you have Sound Design capabilities please apply for Sound Production as well!
Russian Accent: โSheโs making it up. Thereโs no such thing. There is no system for..โ she waived her hand flippantly, โwhatever she is saying.โ
Ancient Greek Accent: โThis large energy can only be interpreted through mathematics. Much like your facts are objective and your emotions are subjective.โ
Futuristic Multicultural Mediterranean Accents: Maple turned to Irsa, โShould we believe him?โ she asked. Irsa shook her denim-wrapped curls โnoโ: โI donโt think he has much more to say to us.โ
Job Description:
Iโm seeking an audio engineer to bring my multi-voice audiobook to life. The novel is about 48,000 words (~5.2โ5.5 finished hours of audio).
You may receive recorded clips from multiple voice actors (separated by sex) and will be responsible for:
โข Assembling the clips into a seamless audiobook
โข Adding background music, sound effects (tent flaps opening, walking in the woods, city noise, nature sounds, monsters etc.) for a cinematic feel
โข Mixing and mastering the final product for a smooth listening experience
โข Polishing timing and pacing between dialogue and narration
โข Delivering finished, high-quality audio files (WAV and MP3)
This project should feel like an immersive audio movie, not just a traditional audiobook.
Requirements:
โข Strong experience with audio mixing/editing for audiobooks, podcasts, or audio dramas
โข Ability to add appropriate royalty-free or original background sounds and music
โข Clean editing: no pops, clicks, or jarring cuts
โข Ability to deliver final files organized by chapters or scenes
โข Good communication and collaboration (Iโm happy to give a few references for the โvibeโ)
Budget:
Flat rate preferred. My budget is $250. Please mention if you are open to flexible terms (such as delayed payment upon book sales or revenue sharing โ optional if you want royalties percentage) otherwise flat cash is fine
Delivery Timeline:
2 weeks after receiving voice files Iโd like at least 50%+ completed, 3-4 weeks turnaround sooner the better
