Hotline Pilot Table Read
Project Overview
A few years back, I wrote a pilot for a tv show I would like to produce someday. This table read is an attempt to test the waters so to speak with the project in the hopes that it could lead to something bigger
The show follows Mathew, a young man who was born with the ability to read minds, as he tries to put his powers to good use by collaborating with local detectives to solve crimes.
At first, Mathew tries to do so discreetly due to all the trouble his gifts have gotten him into, but Detective Adam Jackson refuses to let his fight go to waste. Together, the two solve crimes using a combination of Adam's skills as a detective and Mathew's gift.
Unfortunately, I have been unable to get much support for the project, mainly due to my inability to market myself and my work, lol. I hope though that by doing a table read I could reach a wider audience and perhaps even find an avenue to get the resources I need to make this project a reality.

A relatively young detective with a bad smoking habit. Adam Jackson quickly rose through the ranks to become a detective due to his ability to read people.
His voice is slightly gruff from smoking, but overall warm. He has a strong sense of justice, perfect for a detective. Over the years, he's grown slightly cold and pessimistic, but he continues to maintain a sliver of optimism.
He is one of the two main characters of the story

"Alright, I'll go check it out. Have the team on standby in case I find anything"
"We're not going to hurt you. We just need to talk to you, alright?"
"Look, if you tell me the truth right now, we'll let you go."
A young, paranoid, gentleman, born with the gift of mind reading. Unfortunately for him, this "gift" proved to be more of a curse. He's had a rough life because of his mind reading, making him untrusting and skiddish.
With time, he begins to embrace his gift, but for now, he has a pessimistic outlook on life. I may change his last name. I made it up on the spot, and it didn't hit me until I had written five episodes how similar it is to Matthew Lillard

A kind, black female detective that works alongside Detective Adam. She is rough and tough, but has a soft and tender side reserved for her friends and those rare cases at work where it's needed.
She is fun, but takes her work very seriously. Some may describe her as "motherly", others would call her a "hardass"

The secretary for the building the main bunch of detectives work at. She's a well put together young woman who takes pride in her work. She was the first to notice the strange anonymous tips
"They said the body is in a shallow grave covered by a blue tarp"
"They said there's a body under a red car in the Mckulky junkyard"
"It was the same caller from this morning"
An Asian male detective that works alongside Adam. He is quiet and reserved, but has a fun-loving side he reserves for outside of work. His coworkers don't always get to see that side of him unless he really likes them.
He doesn't have an accent due to him growing up in the US.

I need about 4 people to play random CSI workers. Give me whatever you've got! These are minor roles, maybe 2-3 lines

A minor role. A Hispanic woman who works for CSI. She talks to the main character about going back to school in the pilot, and that's it, so only a few lines
