"Holding On" is a poignant and heartfelt short film that delves into the themes of loss and healing. The story revolves around 11-year-old Griffin, who is grappling with the recent passing of his beloved father, with whom he shared a deep and imaginative bond. In an attempt to hold onto the memories and love he had for his father, Griffin has crafted an enchanting imaginary world where he can deny the painful reality of his loss.
Within this world, Griffin frequents the places he once played with his father and immerses himself in the tales of knights and dragons they used to read together. However, as reminders of his father surround him, Griffin finds it challenging to confront his grief openly. His coping mechanism, though comforting, keeps him from fully accepting the truth of his father's absence.
Everything changes when a formidable Dragon unexpectedly emerges in Griffin's ideal world, posing a threat to take his father away once more. Faced with this terrifying challenge, Griffin must summon the courage to confront the metaphorical monster, symbolising the harsh reality he has been evading. Through this perilous encounter, Griffin embarks on a transformative journey of acceptance and healing, ultimately finding strength within himself to let go while cherishing the memories of his father forever. "Holding On" is a touching exploration of the human heart's capacity to grapple with loss and emerge stronger, illuminating the power of imagination and love in the process.
