Higurashi no Naku koro Ni (When They Cry) Episode 2 Fan Dub

Hello, and welcome to another Somewhat Heroic Productions fan dub. Personally, I am a fan of dark anime, in particular, deceptively dark anime. Higurashi no Naku koro Ni was a perfect match for my tastes and I enjoyed the show from beginning to end... but there was a problem...
Voice Actor
Rena is adorably cute and loves cute things at time, and five minutes later.... she goes into psycho killer mode. Oh, she also likes to talk in third person. Be able to do both Rena "modes". Rena's voice should be medium-high and should sound like she is in her teens. However, if you have a different idea for her portrayal you think will work, I'd be happy to listen.
(squeals) It's so cute! I want to it home!
"Just like you have secrets to hide from us, we have secrets and things to hide from you..." (creepy)
(maniacal laugh) "Tell me, has something been eating at you lately? Something that maybe scares you..." (creepy)

Mion Sonozaki is one of the two Sonozaki twins. (Shion does not appear in the first arc) Mion is a fun-loving, tomboy, with a lot of energy usually.... but like Rena she can turn into a stoic OR psycho killer. Be able to perform both modes for Mion. For Mion, try a medium to medium low teen voice. Her dub actress was by far the best of the group if you need inspiration, but you do not have to base your performance off of hers.
"Correct me if I'm wrong, but you're still having a hard time finding your way around Hinamizawa, right? (curious)
"Sit still Keiichi. It's time for your punishment game..." (fun, teasing)
"Come on, you already know, right? (evil giggle) Don't fight it Keiichi..." (creepy)
Voice Actor
Rika is present during the entirety of the first season, but her real role is revealed late. Rika is cutesy, nice, and has several catchphrases. As she is only ten, use a higher voice that would fit Rika. I think the original voice made her sound a little too old. Once again, you can try something original and I'll be happy to listen!iption
"Hi everybody! Are you ready for the festival?" (friendly)
"Ni-pah!" (signature line, cutesy delivery)

Satoko is the most mischievous of the bunch and is super competitive with Keiichi. Though, she views him as a temporary replacement for her older brother Satoshi, who mysteriously disappeared. Also, she can turn crazy just like the others in the series. As she is eleven, her voice should be higher, but not quite as high as Rika's. Original ideas and performances welcome!
"Oh ho ho ho!" (signature laugh)
"I can see that, you idiot! I'm not stupid you know!" (responding to Keiichi's silly statement)
Do whatever you want to me, just don't go in his room! Don't destroy NiNi's room! (panicked)
Voice Actor
Tomitake is a re-occurring character in the series and his many deaths are a usual plot point in each arc. On the outside, he appears to be a nature photographer with an amiable personality. However, there more to him than that.... Try a mid to mid-low for Tomitake or your own take on the character.
"Wow, Keiichi, I didn't know you were such a popular guy. I'm jealous! I wanna be surrounded by girls too!" (teasing)
"I normally only take pictures of birds so I'm not used to asking. Maybe I'll ask them next time! (laughs)
"Each year, on the day of the cotton drifting festival, somebody dies." (very serious)
Voice Actor
Detective Oishi is a re-occurring character in the show's arcs. He is often kind and initially approachable, but can be rather intimidating at times. His original dub actor had a decent idea for the voice, but didn't execute it that well IMO. So, try a middle age (upper middle age) detective voice with possible a little gravel in it or your own take of course!
"I have the AC running in my car. Should we speak in there?" (casual)
"God may forgive you, but the police force will not!" (intense)
"Have you ever heard of the curse of Oyashiro?" (serious)

Miya Takano travels to Hinamizawa with Tomitake and just seems like she is hiding something... Her appearance in this arc is short, but she becomes a very important character late in the story. I imagine her voice being soft but mysterious (or your own take of course!).
"I told you about it because you're so understanding. But if the other villagers knew about it, they'd say I'm blasphemous and gang up on me." (somewhat serious)
"Broccoli or cauliflower, which one is green...?" (light moment)
"Was the corpse...buried properly?" (out of nowhere bluntly)
