NOW CASTING – Havyn’s Hope

An audio drama where your haircut might just come with a side of emotional clarity.

Method: Audio Drama ( approx. 30 minute episodes)

Genre: Drama with a bit of Comedy

Pay: $45/hour for all roles (But some roles have less lines than others, so total pay will vary from talent to talent.)

Deadline: Monday, April 14th 2025, 11:59 PM EST

Welcome to Havyn's Hope, a salon where you get your hair done and your problems solved by none other than our namesake. Havyn does more than just cut hair, she saves lives (maybe not to an extreme extent, but her Yelp review is pretty decent regardless).

With the help of her chaotic, but charming, coworkers, Havyn helps clients discover what they didn’t even know they needed. And just maybe, with a little luck, she’ll figure a few things out for herself too.

This is a continuous casting call that will close and re-open as production goes along. We are currently casting (3) new characters for episode 2: Chiaroscuro

    A little later than expected, but all callbacks have been notified as of 4pm EST! Check your CCC inbox for a message from us :)

    Unfortunately, if you did not receive a message, that means you were not chosen. We had some amazing auditions and had a hard time narrowing it down at all, so everyone should be proud! While Episode 1 is getting ready to enter the production stage, Episode 2 is now in the writing stage, so we're going to keep this open to come back to any talent that catches our eye for that.

  • Character Audition Updates 3-24-25

    Another important set of updates. While listening to auditions, we noticed a few things that we wanted to make clear!


    For all characters: While listening we realized, as a whole, we want more realistic voices rather than animated/theatrical ones. This drama should feel like you’re listening in on the conversations of normal people, so try scaling your energy accordingly! In most cases, your natural voice will be your best voice ;)


    We also made some changes to character descriptions/ages/vocal ranges/etc. If you have not auditioned, we would encourage you to review the changes to make any adjustments you want to your tape. If you have auditioned, we cannot make this clear enough:

    For our sake: Please don’t reaudition.

    We spent a good few hours listening to tapes and even if your pitch/delivery/tone/etc were not like the descriptions we relisted, there is a good chance you were still put forward to the next round of casting. While we did want to clarify a few things when we realized what direction some of our characters were going in, there are still many of you who made the cut solely because we liked your voice. That being said, we may reach out to a few auditions that had us on the fence in order to get them to change something or go out of a different line but it’ll be rare. 


    Regardless, You are all doing such a great job of bringing our project to life and making us even more excited about exploring this universe! We appreciate the fact that you even took the time to audition, so from the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

  • Production Project Update 3-24-25

    Hello to all of our wonderful new actors and followers! First and foremost we (the creators behind Havyn’s Hope) would like to thank you for the very fast support we’ve gained on our passion project. We are actively combing through auditions as they roll in but wanted to make everyone aware of some recent unexpected changes to production (both good and bad) :)

    • Our audio engineer/sound mixer did not anticipate the volume of auditions and after some lengthy discussion. We will have to shorten the audition deadline to Friday, March 28th, 11:59PM EST. This isn’t our first choice but we do need time to mix/edit/produce the pilot and then resume casting for episode 2.

       

    • Speaking of...We are going to move forward with at least episodes 2-3 of this audio drama. This does mean that all roles currently listed, besides Teresa, are recurring roles and will be paid as such.

Teresa (25-30)[Major Character] (she/her) One of Havyn’s new clients who stumbled into her salon. She has a business selling flowers that she inherited from her grandmother who raised her after her parents died while she was young. She’s lost a passion for plants now focused on cutting corners to help build and grow her business. She doesn’t know what to do with herself but learns from Havyn and is reminded of why she loved plants. Voice adult woman. Any accent. Mid-Low range. Confident and stubborn, she believes in her own words but is more reinvigorated when she’s reminded of her true love of plants.

  • Does he not understand the meaning of the word no? I have a meeting in three hours, I don't have time to be following some kid to a random shop. God, why did it have to be me? My coffee’s done for, my suit is ruined and if that wasn’t enough the new stocks of plants STILL haven’t arrived at the garden center. (blow) And there goes the bun that took me half an hour to perfect. Gosh, It’s just one thing after another today. Speaking of, I’ll have to adjust my spending budget, since coffee is now up 11 cents. The food budget’s going up, but if I can cut down on my electricity then—

  • Right. Shit. Okay, thank you, for everything Havyn. You really- (pause) You’re good at what you do.

Owner of Havyn’s Hope, a small yet well-known salon in the city. Havyn herself is probably the quirkiest one on her staff. She can be a little off-the-mark with most of the things she does, and one can only guess the crazy thoughts running through her head, but she’s good people. She channels warm and amicable energy without being all too expressive herself, but somehow still finds a way to connect with people, and ultimately, change their lives. (It also may have something to do with being a psychic, but that’s a story for a different time.) 


Voice Range: Young Adult, Mid-Low Range, Preferably No Accent. A quiet confidence, without actually being quiet in volume. Can have a bit of wonder to her voice as well. Try to keep it non-animated while still sounding polished.

Lucy (20-30) [Minor Character] (she/they) One of Havyn’s staff. A usually cold demeanor but cares about Havyn and her long-lasting clients. She doesn’t like to be vulnerable with strangers and makes an effort to protect herself and has only really opened up herself to Havyn and Dexter. Voice: Adult Low-Mid Range. Any accent. More mellowed out and monotone, a little cold and a little rude. Speaks more softly towards Havyn and Dexter though.

Mikey (16-18)[Minor Character] (Any/Depends on the Casting) The hottest mess of the Hope Staff. All the staff say there is “No Hope” for him ironically, but Havyn sees something they don’t.(As always) Mikey’s a hot mess, and as the only intern working there, does more cleaning and coffee runs than cutting hair but Mikey’s family nonetheless. Awkward by nature, but still tries to be as confident as Dexter and Havyn and looks up to them greatly. And fears Lucy just as greatly. Voice: Teen Boy/Teen Girl, Any Range, but looking for younger voices. Any Accent. Will clarify, this role was created with a male voice in mind but we are open to any interpretation!

Dexter (25-35)[Minor Character] (he/him) The Dad of the salon. He picks on Havyn for having a one-track mind and not realizing it takes more than just people skills to run a business. He’s the finance guy and manager who rarely cut hair, but somehow has the kind of people skills you just can’t teach. While an attractive guy, he’s not into romance, but he is into family, and the Hope Staff are the only ones he has, so he does right by them. Voice: Adult Male, Low and Smooth. Preferably not a gravely/rough voice. Any Accent. Has a stern, but warm tone with everyone. Has a dad personality but more of a mid-20s energy while not.

  • Please no problem, if anything it’s on our new recruit. (he pats a hand on Mikey’s head an dsteers him off with him) Here, have a look at the catalog, if something catches your eye we’ll do it free of charge. (beat) Come on kid, you’re with me this morning.

Xavier (18) (He/Him) A new client at Havyn’s Hope. Xavier is an intelligent, sometimes  entitled kid who wants to become an artist. His family is pretty well off and have supported his dreams financially (with some very uncomfortable conditions) but have never seen his art career as anything more than a hobby. Frustrated by their dismissiveness of his wishes, and his personality, he finds himself at the salon trying to make some drastic changes. Instead, he ends up finding a way to keep his autonomy, while extending an olive branch to his parents and maybe influencing another salon working in the process. He is a bit entitled but doesn’t come off as conceited or snobbish. Low-Mid Range, Young adult. He is a black male, and that does somewhat play a role in his character portrayal, we are looking for a black actor for this character.
