Welcome to the GUILTY GEAR manga fandub! We're kicking off the project with adapting the prologue and first chapter for YouTube, and are looking for you to fill out the roles and best represent the world of ArcSys and Daisuke Ishiwatari's fighting game series, GUILTY GEAR.
SUMMARY
Frederick Bulsara was a virtuous and esteemed scientist, working for the betterment of mankind in the aftermath of the "Dawn of Revival" incident, the day the world was changed forever. But mankind knew that they could not change society, and instead of reflecting on themselves, they blames the beasts. Frederick's best friend, Asuka Kreutz, betrayed him for unknown reasons, turning him into the first advanced lifeform known as a "Gear", a powerful amalgamation of magic and science.
Frederick disappeared, and in the aftermath, the Gear Project gave birth to biomechanical abominations that now ravage the Earth with incredible power. War for the survival of mankind breaks out, known throughout what is left of civilization as The Crusades. And in the midst of this chaos, a new hero rises up from the ashes of the war, a stranger with incredible power known as Sol Badguy, who's hatred of the Gears is just as fiery as his flaming fighting techniques.
But not all who wander are lost, and the Sacred Order of Holy Knights, led by the young prodigy hero Ky Kiske, bring him into their cause to save humanity from its most terrible creation. The world is ravaged, in ruins, and the truth of mankind's downfall may be just as dark as the hellscape that is most of Earth now. The narrator introduces the reader to the world of GUILTY GEAR. We are looking for clear and precise diction, able to illustrate the dark world of GUILTY GEAR through voice alone.
"At the end of the twentieth century, humanity succeeded in the theorization of 'magic', creating a limitless energy resource. Yet, they could not bring an end to the conflict between themselves."
"Sol Badguy: He's joined the specialized anti-Gear elite troops known as the Sacred Order of Holy Knights after being recruited by their leader, Kliff Underson. Due to his personality, he goes solo even within the group."
"One day, from the midst of the supposedly obedient Gears, came forth a single Gear who possessed great combat ability and a strong will, calling herself 'JUSTICE'. With gears all over the world by her side, she declared war on humanity."
The main hero of GUILTY GEAR. One of the strongest beings in the universe, though his power is contained with an inhibitor device of his own making. His personality is gruff and standoffish. A loner through and through who fights for his truth and future to eradicate all Gears from the face of the Earth.
(Morose, contemplative) "The incident here just a few hours earlier... would change my life and the world completely. Yet somehow, I don't think I'll be selling the movie rights."
(Furious, being betrayed by his best friend) "You're kidding, right!? Hey! Tell me this is a sick joke! Why... did you do this to me!? Why did you betray us!? I ALWAYS TRUSTED YOU! I THOUGHT OF YOU AS A FRIEND!"
(Threatening, detached) "You're in my way. Move."
(Preparing to attack) "I won't let you live. Not a single one of you."
(Attacking) "GUNBLAZE!"
(Contemplating, vengeful) "No longer human, I gave up my name, and focused solely on going around and destroying every last one of the weapons he made... Gears."
(Pronounced "kiss-ck") A prodigy young swordsman sixteen years of age. A war orphan with a strong, naive sense of justice, and a black and white view on morality and the world. He carries himself as a warrior priest, with his virtues and convictions as strong as his legendary sword, the Lightning Seal.
(irritated) "Sol Badguy! You... why won't you listen to my orders? Why do you always...? Sol, wait! Listen!"
(Shocked, preparing to fight) "You... what are you doing over there!? You do realize that's one of the sacred treasures, the Fireseal, don't you!?"
(Summoning his power) "Do you really think I'd allow that? VAPOR THRUST!"
Frederick's best friend and research partner on the Gear Project. For reasons unknown, he betrays Frederick and attempts to kill him in pursuit of a new and mysterious breakthrough that promises to save all mankind, at the cost of his best friend. He's young and has a higher pitched, more malign voice than one would expect of a man that would go on to be known in hushed whispers as "The Devil".
(Foreboding) "This is all for the future of the Gear Project."
(Sinister) "Frederick... you're going to die."
