Ray Stantz, the Heart of the Ghostbusters and one of our leads!
Ray is a much bigger part of the narrative in this version of the story. while the film is mostly told from the POV of Peter, this musical follows Rayβs and Peterβs POVs equally. Ray does a lot of singing. a lot more than Peter. you'll need to have a higher range as opposed to the other 3 guys and a good set of lungs.
Below are some quotes from the movie to get you started on your audition.

What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor, real wrathβa God type stuff!
Personally, I liked the university. They gave us money and facilities, we didn't have to produce anything! You've never been out of college! You don't know what it's like out there! I've WORKED in the private sector. They expect RESULTS.
Are you troubled by strange noises in the middle of the night? Do you experience feelings of dread in your basement or attic? Have you or your family ever seen a spook, spectre or ghost? If the answer is "yes," then don't wait another minute. Pick up the phone and call the professionals... Ghostbusters! Our courteous and efficient staff is on call 24 hours a day to serve all your supernatural elimination needs. We're ready to believe you!

Egon Spengler, the brains of the Ghostbusters!
While Egonβs role and on-screen (minus the actual screen) time has been significantly expanded in our rewrite, his role still remains the smallest out of the main four. He sings less than Ray and Winston, and is about equal to Peter in terms of songs he participates in musically. You wonβt need a huge range for this role, just a good lower register and the ability to talk very fast.

Thereβs something very important i forgot to tell you. Donβt. cross. the streams.
Vinz, you said before you were waiting for a sign. What sign are you waiting for?
Sorry, Venkman, I'm terrified beyond the capacity for rational thought.

Peter Venkman, the⦠Mouth of the Ghostbusters, for lack of a better term, and another one of our leads!
important note: i am much more likely to be picky about who gets this role. you will have to have a pretty good impression of either bill murray or lorenzo music.
Peter doesnβt sing all that much, and when he does it wonβt be intense like Ray or Winstonβs songs. heβs generally mostly a comedic character there to move along with the story and provide the audience a relatable anchor. however he is a very crucial lead. the story follows his and Rayβs POVs equally, so you will have a lot of lines. possibly more spoken lines than Ray, but iβm not sure yet. in short, if you want a lead that sings a lot, go for Ray, if you want a lead that talks a lot, go for Peter.

I'm gonna take back some of the things I said about you, Egon. You've earned it.
You're gonna endanger us, you're gonna endanger our client - the nice lady, who paid us in advance, before she became a dog...
We've been going about this all wrong! This is Mr. Stay Puft, okay? He's a sailor, he's in New York; we get this guy laid, we won't have any trouble!

Winston Zeddemore, the Soul of the Ghostbusters and our most vocally challenging lead.
Important note: Winston is an established, beloved and iconic man of color in pop culture that millions of kids grew up with. i would much, MUCH rather NOT HAVE A WHITE ACTOR PLAY THIS ROLE. i cant stop you from auditioning, but you are extremely unlikely to get the part. please be understanding and leave room for POC actors to audition.
right off the bat, iβll warn you, Winston has quite a few challenging solo songs and duets with other characters. there are very, very few songs he doesnβt participate at least a little bit. heβs a constant, and this will be a fairly taxing role. youβll really need to able to wail for this one. as you can probably already gather, iβve almost completely rewritten his character. he is now introduced much MUCH earlier in the story and, not to spoil things, but he has an actual arc this time around. buckle up. itβll be hard, but rewarding.

Ray, when someone asks you if you're a god, you say "YES"!
β¦if there's a steady paycheck in it, I'll believe anything you say.
Myth? Ray, has it ever occurred to you that maybe the reason we've been so busy lately is 'cause the dead HAVE been rising from the grave?
