Final deadline extension
We are extending the deadline for one more week. After that, we will be extending out to other platforms for casting.
We are a (currently unnamed) Genderbent My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic fandub group. Our current project is a dub of the first two episodes of the show (no lip-syncing required, we will handle that in editing). We will also be doing some dubs of various social media comics, possibly the IDW comics, and more in the future.
The concept is a sort of Acting Troupe, we'll take on projects that fit our team and cast the people from within the team first. We work with each other to provide feedback and develop character voices, rather than just a one-and-done audition. Basically, we're a collaborative group that wants to support each other, and improve our craft. We are focusing on MLP stuff for now, but we could branch out into other fandoms or even original works someday.
Currently, we need a female voice for Spike the Dragon. If you can also do other voices, please include that, but please only audition if you are primarily interested in playing Spike.
Requirements:
Good Audio Quality - Noise floor of no higher than -40 dB, acoustically treated space with minimal reverb, equipment that doesn't sound like a tin can. We will be HEAVILY prioritizing people based on audio quality. If you only have a microphone and have not done anything to your recording space, please do not apply. If the only treatment you have is a cardboard box full of foam, please do not apply. If your audio is not up to par, you will be told so. If you do not know what a "noise floor" or "acoustic treatment" is, please look them up.
Live Recording Sessions - We will be conducting most (if not all) of our recording through Discord group calls. You will not be required to be at EVERY recording session, but you'll need to attend enough to get your lines recorded with live direction. We will provide Google Forms for you to put your schedule in, so that we may work out when is best for everyone. You do not need to give us your Discord handle now, but please confirm in the description of your audition that you have a Discord account (or are willing to set one up).
Directable - We will be directing you live and providing feedback for any recordings posted in the Team Discord Server. We strive to point out both the strengths and weaknesses of a performance. You need to be able to take in that feedback and adjust your performance accordingly. Remember, no performance is "bad", it's just in the wrong context. The feedback is just meant to recontextualize it to make your performance more informed.
Commitment - This isn't just a one-and-done kind of thing. We're looking for someone to be a part of the team for various projects going forward, probably other characters, too. We're not going to require "weekly check-ins" or whatever other nonsense project leaders do, we just ask that you be responsive and pay attention to any big @'s in the server. Just a response of any kind within a day or two of a DM or @ in the server to confirm you read it, at the very least.
All audition descriptions must include:
-Confirmation that you have a Discord account
-A list of Equipment used in the audition (this should be the same equipment you will use in the project)
-A description of your recording space and acoustic treatment (this should be the same space you will use in the project)
Any auditions that do not include these will not be considered.
Please ask any questions in the comments of this Casting Call. Unless it is about the team or something else too specific to Google, please Google your question before asking. Any questions that could have been Googled will be ignored.
We are extending the deadline for one more week. After that, we will be extending out to other platforms for casting.
Extending the deadline to December 4th.
As a reminder, as per the description of the project, your audio quality is of utmost importance. If your audio has a noticeable level of reverb (as all auditions so far have), please address it before auditioning. If you have not put anything on the walls of your recording space for acoustic treatment, or otherwise placed anything vertically parallel to your recording position, your audio will not be up to par, that is a guarantee. We do not need perfect broadcast-quality audio, but if your space is noticeably echoing, your recordings are not useable. Thank you.
As it says, Spike the Dragon, but female. We're not necessarily looking for an impression, or anything that is super femme. More than anything, we want the attitude and mannerisms first-and-foremost. If you can do an impression, though, let us hear it.
Record some lines from the show, or improv. Just be sure to include at least three lines; one typical volume, one loud, and one quiet. Please include at least a second of silence between lines.
Include up to two takes maximum, AABBCC format.
Also, if you can do a female version of any of the male side characters, put some takes of them at the end of your audition file (say the character name before your takes and do not exceed the three line/two take maximums).
