Project Overview
Hello everyone! Back at ya again with another casting call! This time it's for a voice dub of the Fruits Basket manga.
What is Fruits Basket?
Fruits Basket tells the story of Tohru Honda, an orphan girl who, after meeting Yuki, Kyo, and Shigure Soma, learns that twelve members of the Soma family are possessed by the animals of the Chinese zodiac and are cursed to turn into their animal forms when they are weak, stressed, or when they are embraced by anyone of the opposite sex that is not possessed by a spirit of the zodiac. As the series progresses, Tohru learns of the hardships and pain faced by the afflicted members of the Soma family, and through her own generous and loving nature, helps heal their emotional wounds. As she learns more about Yuki, Kyo, and the rest of the mysterious Soma family, Tohru also learns more about herself and how much others care for her.

and once the audition deadline passes we will go through and pick people for the roles and message those who are chosen about it.

Tohru Honda is an orphaned high school student who, at the start of the story, begins living with Shigure, Yuki, and Kyo Soma in exchange for housekeeping. She loves to cook, describes herself as an excellent housekeeper, and has an after-school job as an office janitor to pay her tuition fees to avoid being a burden on her grandfather. She is depicted as polite, optimistic, extremely kind, and selfless several other characters, including Kyo, Rin, and Saki tell her she needs to look out for herself and not shoulder everyone else's burdens.

Good morning, I'm Tohru Honda. My mother who raised me by hersel passed away this May. So, I started secretly living in a tent. Although I can't say I live a luxurious life now, but it's okay. Because of my personality, it doesn't matter how bad the situation is...or when ever it is I'll never be afriad, I'll never give up.
Arisa Uotani is a former gang member and one of Tohru's closest friends. Arisa is depicted as tough, brash, and sometimes violent she wears long skirts, sometimes carries a lead pipe Arisa is tall for a girl, and once claims she wishes to reach 6 feet (1.8 m) in height. She is especially competitive with Kyo and bickers with him frequently. Her childhood was troubled: her father is an alcoholic and her mother left him for another man when Arisa was young; Arisa joined an all-girl gang called The Ladies in fifth grade, and idolized Kyoko Honda's reputation from her gang days. When Arisa met Kyoko's daughter Tohru in middle school, and then Kyoko herself, she was shocked by the change from gang-leader into doting mother, but became friends after Kyoko helped her escape from her gang. With Saki Hanajima, she swore on Kyoko's grave to look after Tohru, and in their "parental" protection of Tohru, noted by Kyo and Yuki, Arisa is depicted as the brash and direct father-figure
I don't know. You've been putting in a lot of hours lately. A lot more than usual.
So what is it? You're in some kind of trouble? You owe somebody? Your grandfather is giving you enough to eat, right? He isn't taking your money?
I know, I worry too much. But seriously, if you need me to rough somebody up for you, you just say the word, got it?
Saki Hanajima is a psychic girl who has the ability to sense people's "waves" and send out electric waves, and one of Tohru's closest friends. She is depicted as very perceptive and conducts herself in a deadpan manner. Saki is often seen eating or doing Tohru's or Arisa's hair when not in class. Like Arisa, Saki is extremely protective of Tohru, who was the first person in school that truly accepted her, which helped her gain control of her powers.
One more word and you'll all get a (bleep-censored) with electric shocks.
Like I said, I sense strange electric signals
That's odd. I didn't think tuition here was that expensive.
And I don't remember you having to work this hard before, unless something else has ...changed.
Kyoko Honda was the wife of Katsuya Honda and the late mother of Tohru Honda, who only appears in flashbacks and photographs treasured by Tohru.
Kyoko used to be a lonely, troubled, and violent teenager who was also an infamous gang leader called "The Red Butterfly". However, after she met Katsuya, they worked through difficulties in a joint effort, and he helped her leave the gang and her own abusive household. After Katsuya's death and due to her own experiences, Kyoko lovingly raises Tohru and shaped much of her character by the wisdom she shared with her.
Kyoko died a few months before the start of the series when she is struck by a car. Despite that, Tohru clings to her mother's memory and calls her the most important person in her life, and repeats bits of her mother's emotional wisdom throughout the series.
Tohru? Tohru? You've got a fever again. You don't have to push yourself so hard. You don't have to do things the way I did. You can just be yourself. Do things your own way, one step at a time. You'll get there. I promise.
Just be yourself, you'll be fine.
While Yuki is viewed as a perfect, untouchable prince by most of his peers at school and displays a very kind and charming personality, he is also awkward, terrible at cleaning and cooking, and lazy around the house. Furthermore, Yuki has a multitude of issues which stems from the abuse he received during his childhood; he has severely low self-esteem, feels isolated and lonely, is terrified of rejection, keeps people at a distance, and struggles to communicate his true feelings in a natural way. Yuki is also acutely attentive to his actions and how they may be perceived by others, resulting in him having a very cold and closed off countenance. He feels like he is trapped in the façade of the ideal prince everyone loves from afar, because he was convinced that no one would ever accept his real self. In fact, rather than being admired from afar, Yuki wishes to have friends of his own, and envies Kyo for being able to socialize more easily than he can. He also admits that above anyone or anything, his biggest enemy is himself as his inferiority complex makes him compare himself to others and feel insecure almost all the time.
And what brings you to our home this morning, Miss Honda?
Well that explains it. All of this land is Sohma property. It seemed odd that we'd suddenly have a new neighbor.
Since you're here, why don't we walk together?
Kyo is a very short-tempered, stubborn, brash, and sharp-tongued person. He is also viewed as charismatic and wears his emotions on his sleeves, which causes people to gather around him, and it also allows Kyo to socialize with outsiders with ease. However, he rarely displays this ability, and rough actions and insensitive remarks are sometimes the only things that come out. Kyo is also quite violent and self-sacrificing, and will frequently end up shouting at people, even people he cares about. This behavior of his is a defensive mechanism to hide the pain he has suffered, and he also doesn't want to hurt people and is afraid of making people unhappy if they get close to him. He tries to keep people at arm's length and even resorts to hurting them so they leave him alone because almost everyone in his life has hurt and pitied him so much that he is tired of it.
Yo. Time to pay the piper, rat-boy. I'm here to collect.
That's right. You better get your tough talk out of the way while you can, cause I'm about to wipe that stupid little smirk right off your face.
In his initial appearance, Shigure seems like a perverted, laid-back character. As the story goes on, he begins to seem more sinister. However, he has a good heart deep down inside.
Shigure can be quite insightful and gives advice to Yuki, Kyo and Tohru if needed. On the surface he's playful, aloof, and mildly perverted; however, he can be quite cunning, manipulative, and deceptive. This dark side of himself is explained in part because of his loyalty to Akito and also because of his desire to see the curse broken. He’s willing to use and hurt others to achieve his goals, including Tohru. He admits to feeling guilty about using Tohru, as he has grown fond of her. He’s aware that his actions will anger his friends deeply but is willing to take the risk, or “lose a tooth” as he thinks the ends justify the means.
What he does, however, is not born out of malice or selfishness, rather he wants the Sohma family to finally achieve happiness. Since Shigure knows how complex the situation is he sometimes has to act cruelly to achieve his subversive plot.
My word. Do my eyes deceive me, or is there a strange young girl standing on my porch?
