Flock ~ A Dungeons and Dragons Adventure (3 MALE, 2 FEMALE)

Project Overview

What is this project?
This audioplay is based off of a Dungeons and Dragons campaign called Flock. At its core, it is a story about the end of the world, and what comes after; This audioplay in particular is focused on the character Rahmi Romazi, and a horrible nightmare he has that spells doom for him and his loved ones. You can see some of the completed audioplays here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvBxKaNtXVHOWdeHeKmqyxg/featured

Each part will have a main actor and an understudy cast.

Please note that this project prominently features LGBT+ characters. If that is an issue for you personally, please do not audition for the project.

As an important note, I’m afraid that I cannot offer payment for this role. My apologies! This project is and always will be mainly for my own enjoyment, but I promise to provide the highest quality end product that I can in the interest of giving actors both new and old work that they can show off proudly.

What sort of time commitment/vocal commitment can I expect?
The current audioplay will be the longest that I've done for this channel, and it will be the first with combat as a major centerpiece. Each role will have some information on what will be expected from the actor, but in general, this project will require shouting, crying, and combat efforts for the main roles. The script is fully completed, so once casting has completed, recording will start promptly after. I estimate that 1 to 2 recording sessions will be needed for each character. My estimate for production of the play after recording is complete is a few months, barring any external circumstances that might crop up.

As another important note, I would like the chance to direct your acting over voice a call if possible, so if you are interested in this role, please be willing to work with me fairly closely. All of the characters in this story are very near and dear to my heart, so it's important to me that we can bring them to life together! If all actors are within close enough time ranges, we may even try reading the play all together!

Audition Rules:
1) All auditionees must have good audio quality. Please avoid background static, appliances running in the background, overly quiet or muffled audio, and recording in rooms with a lot of echo. Please do not use any filters or voice-altering effects in your audition unless they are to reduce external noise.

2) This project will require shouting, screaming, yelling, crying, and combat efforts. If you plan on auditioning, please be sure that you are capable of doing these things!

3) Please have an up-to-date and frequently used email address or Discord so that I may keep in contact with you. If I send out a call for recording/discussion and a voice actor does not respond up to three weeks after the deadline with their status, the role will be recast!

4) If possible, I would like to work with actors who are within three to four hours of the same timezone as me (PST) so that I can have the chance to offer live direction over voice calls. Your audition won't be discounted if you AREN'T in that timezone, but it's important that you'll be able to make the time for recording.

5) When auditioning, please do not go upwards of two takes per line. If you're uncertain of direction for a particular line, feel free to ask!

Hello there! Here with an update on the project that's small but significant-- We've put together our very first video preview, and gosh, I am so proud of it and so excited!!! Please check it out when you've got some time! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J6EzFtxRZkg There will be more and more to come from this project, and as it goes on, I'll be posting other calls for video and audio editors, composers, and other things that will need doing on the technical side. • Yes, this project is still going!

Hi there! I just wanted to post a quick update for those who have followed this--This project is still in the works! It's taking quite a while since I myself am doing all of the audio editing, composing, mixing, foley, video editing, and more by myself, but I'm very happy to at least say that all of the voice lines are completely edited, so we're progressing pretty well! My hope is to have this project out before the end of the year, so I hope you'll wish me luck! I may end up opening up a few extra roles here for editors and mixers to help me put together the audio, so if that's something that interests you, keep an eye out. Thanks for reading!
  • Casting is CLOSED! Thank you!

Thank you so much to everyone who auditioned! The response to this latest casting call was overwhelmingly positive, and I truly do appreciate how many of you think the project is interesting and want to see more! This one's going to be a bit of a doozy in size, so it may take a bit of time, but if all goes well there will be more casting calls down the line for projects within this setting. :) On to a note about casting itself! As stated in the About section, each part has a main actor and understudy cast--I have already reached out to these actors and formally locked them in here on the casting page, but if you have any questions about your own audition, or about the project itself, please don't hesitate to message me. I'll also try and run back through all of the auditions to provide feedback for those who requested it. Once again, thank you all so much for your auditions, your interest, and your enthusiasm! I am so, so excited about this project and its future, and I can't wait to share it with all of you when the time comes.

Lend a hand with audio editing and engineering! I usually do this part all by myself, but having an extra pair of ears on the job would be a great boon towards seeing this project completed quicker.

Role assigned to: B_booth93

One of the heads of the fey government. Faoric is a cold, ambitious, often cruel man with little to no empathy for others, and he will stop at nothing to get what he wants and accomplish his goals. Yet there is a side of him that only his knight, Rahmi, can seem to see beneath it all: a man whose dark exterior hides a desire to save the world, and support those who are suffering. Functionally ageless, but sounds around mid 30s. Speaks slowly, with a calm, noble tone that’s laced with a hint of cruelty; he’s not outright evil, but he’s perceived by others as a villain.

This role will require shouting and combat efforts.

  • (Cold, calm admonishment) Overconfidence is a tactical liability. You would have us die pieces in their game, by each other's hand.

  • (Weary sympathy) Would that I had the power to spare you. If only you and all your faith were enough to bear me to our new world.

  • (A half smile, a hint caring) There are many ways to save someone, are there not? Do not fault yourself for failing one, if you have managed another.

Role assigned to: rubenwilkinson

A gruff old tengu (bird person) with a bruised-but-substantial ego who served as Rahmi’s sword teacher when he joined Faoric’s ranks. Before he was forced to live in exile, he was a hero loved by all. Though not externally affectionate, he cares for Rahmi and comes to his aid when his protege needs help. Age is around 60s or 70s. His voice is elderly in tone, and his speech is direct, rough, and grumpy with something like a Scottish brogue, and a bit of a bird-like rasp. Swears a lot.

This role will require shouting and combat efforts.

  • (Exasperated master snapping at a daydreaming student) Don't get surrounded, boy! Keep your head out of the clouds!

  • (Stern, but affectionate) If you're going to blunder on forward, then do it with your sword in hand, boy.

  • (Growled at a foe, building to a strike) All right, you pig-eyed sack of shit, let's see how you like THIS, aye!?

Role assigned to: philipfischer

A condescending tengu (bird person) who serves as the knight of another of Faoric's killoren colleagues. He believes himself above others both in combat skill and knowledge, and hardly considered Rahmi a blip on his radar--at least until they recently struck up a small rivalry, which may or may not be friendly. His nightmare self patronizes Rahmi as they fight, and there is no kindness to be found in him as they fight to the death. Around 30s or 40s. Speaks with smug confidence and a constant air of looking down on others, even when in danger. (Optional: Add a bit of a bird-like rasp.)

This role will require shouting, combat efforts, and death cries.

  • (Condescending reprimand: "remember your place") We are warriors, sir knight. Diplomacy is the domain of our betters.

  • (Dismissive assessment, aimed to wound) Your form lacks polish. Your stance lacks confidence. Your strikes lack intent.

  • (Narration, grim and somber) He could feel her grip on who she used to be, and on who she was now: One tenuous, the other inescapable.

Role assigned to: Dolittle to the Max

A bookish, stressed out faun (deer person) working in the service of Razeiya Faoric, and a close, cherished friend of Rahmi. She’s been under a lot of strain ever since one of their coworkers abruptly quit his job and left all his work on her shoulders. Though Rahmi does what he can to aid her, there’s not much practical help he can offer her, so she remains stressed, depressed, and worn out. Still, she does care for Rahmi and appreciates what he does, even if he does tend to wear her down sometimes. Age is late 20s. Her voice is light, yet mature and grounded, with a weary, competent resignation to her stress.

  • (Stressed, genuine, but keeping up a burdened smile) I'm doing what I can. You know how it is... Work just keeps piling up.

  • (Concerned, compassionate) You look really tired... I'm not kidding, you know. Maybe you should get some rest.

  • (Narration. Solemn, pensive) At the end of everything... He could show her the world he fought for. He could help her find her place in it again, alongside his.

Role assigned to: aamilburn

Rahmi Romazi’s beloved older sister who has been missing for 7 years. She was Rahmi’s light in the darkness, and she always retained hope in even the worst situations… Yet in the nightmare, when he finally finds a way to speak with her after all these years, he finds her depressed, lost, and on the verge of giving up. Age is mid 20s. She is a young adult with a lower voice, and speaks with a caring, maternal tone drowned in weariness. Actors auditioning for this role should have the capability to cry convincingly.

  • (Bittersweet: glad to see someone, but knowing their efforts are for nothing.) (Sad chuckle) You are such an idiot.

  • (Exhausted frustration) None of this turned out like I planned. I thought... I thought you'd finally get to be happy.

  • (Soft regret) Look... Whatever happens, I... I want you to know I didn't mean for any of this to happen. (Tearing up, a little desperate) I love you.
