THE PROJECT
We are adapting Chapters 1-2 of Final Fantasy: Lost Stranger (Square Enix/Gangan Comics) into a 15-minute indie anime pilot. This is not a fan tribute. This is a transformative adaptation built with original animation, dynamic compositing, and uncompromising respect for the source material.
The Story: Shogo and Yuko are transported into a real Final Fantasy world. After tragedy strikes, Shogo discovers his Libra ability—a game-like UI showing enemy stats and weaknesses. He must survive, fight, and search for the legendary "Raise" spell to undo the impossible.
WHAT WE NEED: ANIMATORS & COMPOSITORS
We are looking for 2D animators, key animators, and compositors who understand the anime adaptation pipeline.
What you will do:
Animate 2-5 second "sakuga snacks" or iconic panel recreations
Work with dynamic 2.5D camera movement and cinematic lighting
Collaborate on character model sheets that transform manga designs into animation-friendly shapes
What we are NOT asking you to do:
Copy-paste complex manga panels frame-by-frame
Animate hyper-detailed, perspective-warped illustrations
Work on a Western cartoon "full animation" pipeline
What we ARE doing:
Transforming complex manga designs into clean, readable, animation-friendly model sheets
Streamlining line work and simplifying shapes for motion (because we know anime is about efficient, stylized animation, not cartoon complexity)
Maintaining the creator's vision while making it feasible to animate at 24fps
TECHNICAL PIPELINE
Software: We are flexible, but our core pipeline uses After Effects + Clip Studio Paint
Deliverables:
Key animation frames (clean line art, no color)
In-between frames (if applicable)
Final composited shots (if you handle compositing)
Scope: We are breaking the 15-minute pilot into specific, manageable shots. No massive, overwhelming scenes. Each animator gets a clear, focused task with a realistic timeline.
