[FANDUB] One Piece OVA - Take Down the Pirate Ganzack!
Project Overview
INTRODUCTION
This fandub is a dub of the original One Piece OVA by Production I.G, which has never received a dub before, due to it being in licensing limbo.
AUDITIONING
Interested in trying out for a role? Great! Below you'll find the roles for the OVA, each one will have an image, a brief description and some voice lines, naturally. For the actual project, we will use the OVA for reference to help you figure out how to best do the lines. As far as the actual auditions go, I have a few general things I want to say:
- Provide at least two takes of every line, each take, try to do the line a bit differently.
- Don't feel obligated to imitate one of the Japanese VA's that have played the character, but don't stray away from there voice type too much either.
- Clean, unedited audio! Don't add any filters/effects. If you can do it well and need to, you CAN use a bit of noise reduction, but I want to hear your voice unfiltered, also when it comes to the actual production, it'll sound more consistent if I'm processing unedited audio.
AUDITION RECCOMENDATIONS & GOALS
To elaborate on what we're looking for, we've added this section to help you if you are a little lost on what exactly we want out of your audition. When it comes to your voice, you should be able to somewhat match the Japanese performances in the OVA. If you need to know what those sound like, you can reference clips on YouTube or you can go back and watch the subbed version of the OVA. While getting close to the Japanese is important, what is more important is that your audition has good range. Play around with your voice and add improv if you think it will show more of what you can do!
Most of all, have fun with it!

Luffy's most dominant traits are his apparent lack of common sense, his utter fearlessness and unwavering belief in himself. He generally marches at the beat of his own drum, unwilling to approach anything in a delicate or nuanced matter. That said, Luffy has a penchant of being able to see through the heart of the matter, often able to accurately call out someone's personal flaws such as Koby's cowardly nature or Kuro's weakness as a pirate. He is profoundly ambitious, frequently declaring he will become the Pirate King and devoting his entire being into being one.

The name's Luffy and I'm gonna be King of the Pirates!
You Jerk! I made a promise to Shanks when he gave me that hat! (Pissed, shouting)
Hey! What do you think you're doing, stepping on me!? (mad)
Zoro usually maintains a very stern, serious, and distanced personality, but often loses his temper in a goofy and exaggerated comical style. It would seem however, that this anger is the only emotion that Zoro often feels comfortable showing. Outside of situations where he feels confident in battle, he tends to smile or laugh the least out of the Straw Hats and rarely fools around with the rest of the crew and likes to distance himself more to sleep or train. In fact, his defeat at the hands of Dracule Mihawk and subsequent vow to Monkey D. Luffy is the only time since his friend Shimotsuki Kuina passed that Zoro has been seen crying in the series.

Dunno. Maybe you miscalculated. (relaxed)
Hey, Luffy! Something else is coming! (shouting)
Luffy! Nice to see ya buddy! LUFFYYYYYYYY!!! (yknow, the 4Kids meme.)
Nami is one of the smartest of the Straw Hats. And according to an SBS from volume 8 (1999), Oda said that "of all the characters introduced so far in One Piece" Nami was the third smartest character in the East Blue (the first is Benn Beckman of the Red Hair Pirates, the 2nd being Captain Kuro).[19] Though given how few characters were introduced and properly developped at that time, that quote should be taken with a grain of salt.

I caught a whole month's worth of fish... How did it all get eaten in only a week?! (depressed)
Okay then. Now that all those brutes are occupied, I can help myself to their treasure! (relaxed, excited almost)
I thought Ganzack wouldn't be a problem for you, so I led you to him. Guess I was wrong! (relaxed but goes on to sound more annoyed at the later bit)
Arrogant and ruthless, Ganzack dreams of becoming Pirate King, and thinks nothing of enslaving an entire island or killing children toward this end. Per his philosophy, military firepower is the most important thing for a pirate to attain, more than even treasure; accordingly, he titles himself the Pirate Shogun and disdains pirates that focus on immediate plunder.

Wealth, fame, power. Gold Roger the king of the pirates obtained this and everything else the World had to offer. And his dying words drove countless souls to the seas. These words lured men to the grand line, pursuing dreams greater than they Ever dared to imagine. This is the time known as the great pirate era.
Hardy and headstrong, Medaka values her family and homeland very deeply, enough to confront grown men alone and throw herself against dangerous weapons. At the same time, she is aware of her limits as a fighter, and is not above manipulating new 'allies' (such as Luffy and Zoro) into fighting with her.
Due to Ganzack's conquest of her homeland, she held a deep hatred for all pirates, regardless of allegiance. However, Luffy's valor led her to reconsider this, and she came to admire the Straw Hat Pirates for helping defeat the Ganzack Pirates and freeing her homeland.
