Mint Cream grew up playing soldier with her big brother, who desperately wished to join the military, but couldn't as a result of physical disability. She has agreed to take his place, allowing him to live vicariously through her.
Hehe, thanks Dad. <Clears throat> This is the first entry in the diary of... No no no, the journal of, yes, journal of Mint Cream. It is the tenth year of Luna and Mummy and Da… <Clears throat> I mean, to celebrate my acceptance into the Steel Ranger Cadets my parents bought me a brand new Pipbuck 2000, which I will use to document my journey from Cadet to full fledged Steel Ranger! We are currently enroute to-
Several years into her training as a Steel Ranger, Mint Cream still retains much of the energy and excitement of her youth, which often clashes with the tedium of living in an underground shelter full of soldiers. As a result she struggles to walk the line between the restraint required of her and the enthusiasm saturating her personality.
Where was I? Right, training. I’m not complaining. I still want to be a ranger, even if it doesn’t mean anything anymore. It’s not like there’s anything better to do anyway. Whoever built the stable clearly didn’t have comfort or recreation in mind. We have a few decks of those cards that only unicorns can hold, a pool table, and a hoofful of magazines that the stallions won’t let me look at. That’s it. I. Am. Bored! <Sigh> Guess I’ll go to the firing range and practice. This is Mint “talks to herself” Cream signing off.
Now an adult, Mint Cream has fallen in line with her comrades, tempering her energy and enthusiasm within the bounds of her rigid upbringing, however this hasn't prevented a sharp, snarky undertone to most of her dialogue.
Lance Corporal Mint Cream’s expedition log, entry three, day two. Given how much salvage I found at Red Racer and how much I might find when I reach Trottingham I decided to commandeer one of the more intact wagons before heading out. It has been seven and a half hours and, other than a few ruined wagons and… bones, I haven’t encountered anything of note. Gritain was mostly rural farmland before, so I wasn’t expecting much. I was half tempted to stop and bury the bones, but there’s just no time. Maybe later. Argh! Stop it, Mint. No wallowing. <Sigh> Oh, something of note! I did actually find a survivor of the apocalypse. A real gritty, sturdy fellow. A man of few- it was a cockroach. Figures those disgusting things would survive. It was a bloody big one too. I mistook it for a rat at first. The little rascal attempted to improve our acquaintance. I was forced to put my hoof down. Hard. Oddly, my pipbuck said the wretched little was actually edible. Urgh! I’d sooner eat my own hooves thank you very much. This is Mint “has some standards” Cream signing off.
Peach is far less dedicated to her training than most of her comrades, cracking jokes and bringing the brighter side to almost every conversation she takes part in. She has a cheery, almost musical voice.
That’s right. It could have. You all knew and accepted the risks when you went out there. And this won’t be the last time somepony goes out and doesn’t come back. We can’t change the past love, we can only learn from it. In the meantime, we live for the present, and look to tomorrow. And speaking of present…
