What Lies Beneath
What Lies Beneath is a short, ten-minute snippet into the Englewood universe. It tells the tale of the discovery of Ludwig Schmidt’s dead body in his farmhouse by his wife in the 1980s.
Unbeknownst to the characters in the beginning of this vignette, Ludwig Schmidt was a serial killer and with his death, the bodies of his victims are discovered buried in shallow graves on his property.
It is this crime that Finn Nightingale and Eve Pemberly first tackle on their podcast; Englewood After Dark. From this gruesome night, the urban legend of THE MURDER FARM is born.
Englewood After DarkEnglewood After Dark is a horror/comedy audio drama following the adventures of Finn Nightingale and Eve Pemberly.
Finn and Eve started this podcast as a way to uncover the many secrets lurking on the haunted campus of Englewood University. This vignette, What Lies Beneath, gives insight into the case of THE MURDER FARM. This is the first case they tackle on the show.
We have one nonrecurring role in this call, so please apply with that in mind. However, in the future we will need more roles filled so watch this space! If you have already auditioned for us, please feel free to audition again. Lines will be recorded asynchronously.

Isabella Jones (Schmidt) [Lead Role: 46 Lines]
Isabella has been married to Ludwig for 17 years. In recent months, she has watched him transform from a quiet, subdued man, into a more charismatic, but intense creature that she almost doesn’t recognize. In fact, he had begun to scare her.
Around this time, she began an affair with Elliot Quinn, her husband’s closest friend. In a sense, she is almost relieved that her husband is dead.
In addition, Isabella grew up in Englewood, so is used to the way in which the town works. She knows how common death is in this cursed place, and is a little numb to it.
Please note: this role requires a brief gagging/retching sound. We do not want our actors to hurt themselves, however, so if this is something you cannot do, please do not worry. We will figure something out on our end.
(outraged) My husband is dead and you thought it might be a prank?
(being told that the deputy needs to check on her husband) No matter how much you check on him, Deputy, he'll still be dead.
(after the deputy has fallen into the shallow grave of her husband’s first victim) Is that... oh god she’s rotten. You’ve got her all over you-
