Englewood After Dark: Episode 8

Englewood After Dark: Episode 8

Project Overview

Englewood After Dark is a horror/comedy audio drama following the adventures of Finn Nightingale and Eve Pemberly.

Finn and Eve started this podcast as a way to uncover the many secrets lurking on the haunted campus of Englewood University but, as they embark on their latest cold case, investigating The Murder Farm, they begin to realize they may have bitten off more than they can chew.

Because Englewood really is haunted, and now, so are they.

We have a single recurring role in this call, so please read carefully. However, in the future we will need more roles filled so watch this space! If you have already auditioned for us, please feel free to audition again for any of these roles. Lines will be recorded asynchronously.

Unfortunately this is not a paid opportunity, but we are working tirelessly on making it a successful drama.

Please record two takes of each line in an AA-BB-CC format.

Valerie (20) is a recurring role, appearing in multiple episodes. In this episode she has 10 lines, with 40 total for this season. This character has multi-season potential, so please be aware that this is a long commitment when auditioning.

As a character, Valerie is no-nonsense, but kind. She is well aware that Englewood is haunted, but is keeping some secrets of her own. She is dating Clayton, a minor antagonist, and their relationship is strained to say the least. Though Valerie is written as a woman from the South, we are open to other accents and encourage all to audition regardless of accent.

In this episode, they have a tense conversation about Eve and Finn, who are snooping into the mysteries on campus, much to Clayton’s chagrin. He takes this out on Valerie.

  • (Distressed at being called at work) Clayton? I told you not to call me on the work phone.

  • (Like she’s been to couples counselling, and is trying to keep it together) Clayton. I've asked you not to use that tone with me. I'm not your servant.

  • (Snapping, defensive) The only way? To what? Spy on Finn and Eve?
