Hi! This is the casting call for season 1 of "Echo". This project was originally a comic and evolved into a script for a few episodes. "Echo" is an LGBTQ+ indie-animated show dedicated to donating to charities to help ensure a better tomorrow, and inspired by the story of "The Wizard of Oz'' (1930).
If you want an idea of what the show is like, think Amphibia meets the Owl House meets the original The Wonderful Wizard of Oz book/movie meets Luca.
The show is about two siblings living in the year 1940, Emily and Audrey, who wake up one day to find their home has been completely moved to another world. Their father seems to have been left behind, and now Emily sets out to find a way to get back to him. Audrey isn't so eager, though. More and more people appear in their lives, good people. They are good people... right?
We're casting for multiple voices, storyboard artists, and anyone who'd like to edit the script to make it better. Animators are welcome, too!
Auditions & Deadlines
If you'd like to audition, that's awesome! There's no super quick deadline, the ending of auditions will be at the start of February next year. This deadline may be extended, and this is only the deadline for voices and help working on episode 1 and possibly episode 2. It does not include characters appearing after that. Roles will open for future characters, just because the characters we have up have been cast doesn't mean there aren't still roles available. Animators, artists, background artists, and storyboard artists roles are always open.
For voice auditions, you may submit your audition. We will check all submissions within 48 hours. After going through all submissions for a role and choosing, the person chosen will be contacted. In order to finalize your picking for the role (if you DID NOT submit custom lines and only a demo) you will need to choose a day to do a Google Meet to read lines. Keep in mind if you audition for voice roles, they are somewhat off and on.
Your lines will be recorded once the scripts/boards for season 1 (8-10 episodes) are complete. After this, as the episodes are released, we may contact you again for fun activities, like watching through the edited animatic/finished product for the next episodes over a meet or asking if you'd like to do a reading of a short funny fan fiction we've found.
For any artist roles, we are always open! If you want to be on the team behind the scenes, please apply or message a sample of your work to @cartoonseastudios. You will be contacted within 3 days if we want you on our team, and once you confirm that you will be joining us, you will be sent some work that may be completed and then sent back. You will be credited with your work in the credits at the end of the episode(s) that you worked on, as well as in the description.
What Do We Expect?
Have fun!
Be kind. This series focuses on supporting LGBTQ+ youth and adults, and while this is not the main focus of the show and various other topics are covered much more than sexual and gender identity, there is an episode or two where this may be covered.
There are no heavy deadlines for work, but please finish in a timely manner and if you are a VA, please record lines within around a month and a half of the read through of the script.
In order to get a volunteer letter, you must have submitted at least one piece of quality work (not completed in less than five minutes)
