The Dreamwalker // Original Series
Project Overview
OVERVIEW
The Dreamwalker is an animated web series inspired by works such as Coraline and Gravity Falls. We follow Kori as he travels the multiverse to save his friend Lyman, a writer trapped in a dimension infested with sleep paralysis demons, known as the Dreamscape. With the help of his friends, and reality shifting, he just might make it.
WHAT WE EXPECT
Please read the whole page before auditioning! Now that you have an idea of what this original series is about, let’s get to casting! However, before we get into what roles we need, allow us to go over some of our expectations for those who want to join this project.
First off, we would like to clarify that if you want to be in this project, you must be between the ages 13-17 (Except for Quincy Lyman, who needs an older voice actor). We want to make sure everyone is comfortable and plus, we don’t want to waste any adult’s time seeing as this is an unpaid project.
Communication is KEY! Please, if there are any issues that you must discuss with the directors, discuss it with them.
If you feel unconfident going into a role (as in you doubt you’ll have the time/dedication for it), DO NOT APPLY FOR IT. We want people who know they can fulfill their roles confidently. Which brings us to the next point:
If you want to go into this project, know that you are going into a LONG TERM PROJECT. This project could take up to two to three years if everything goes to plan. So, make sure that you have enough responsibility, dedication, and time before you apply for a role in this project.
Have fun with this project! We don’t want any drama or problems arising with the people in this project, so if you know you’re prone to starting drama, please, save yourself the trouble and do not apply for this project (:
Most importantly, if you are accepted into this project, you MUST AGREE to not disclose ANY information on the project. This includes scripts, WIP art/animations, concept art, etc. unless you run it by the directors and they give you the ok to disclose it to the public.
Finally, on a less complex note, you must be familiar with discord to join! All of our communication is going to be on discord, so if you are not familiar with it, please do not apply for a role. On another note, you must also be active on discord. We don't want to have a bunch of people inactive when we're trying to work on this huge project.
Now, onto what roles we need:
For the project, we will need animators, artists (for both concept and backgrounds), storyboard artists, and voice actors! All the requirements for each role (except for voice actors, which is down below) will be listed in the role's description. Feel free to audition!
Requirements for Voice Actors:
Good quality mic
Little to no background noise. If there is too much background noise, we will not listen to your audition
Expression! Unless it specifically says to be monotone, we want to hear good expression from you!
Not a mandatory requirement, but have fun with the characters! If you want to go off-script and say a line you feel would fit the character, go ahead! We would love to hear it
Also note: For each role (except for character VAs), we will be hiring multiple people. So, there is a good chance you might get in if you audition (depending on skill, of course)!

Kori is a very curious and stubborn individual. With his curiosity comes a lot of questions, though, with all these questions, it's important that he never gets annoying. His voice is somewhat deep, but still on the higher side for his age. For voice reference, try to match the voice of the person in the shiny puffy jacket in this tiktok: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZMJKkR1kw/
We'd prefer if this role goes to transmasc bipoc!
[You just appeared in a random, unfamiliar place, unexpectedly] (confused, bewildered) Where... am I?
[You've been offered to go through with something, and you agree just to see what will happen] (slight joyful tone) Yea, sure, what's the worse that could happen?
[You are walking with a small group of friends, conversing] My house, after school, right?
Lyman is an older, more wise character. His accent can be compared to that of Old English, and he speaks very formally compared to Kori. For voice reference, refer to Jason Funderburker (the frog) from Over the Garden Wall.
Hmm... It seems we've gotten stuck, Kori.
(slightly joyful) Ah, yes, apprenticeship. What a brilliant idea!
(blissfully) Some day, Kori... Some day...
Bees is a very cheery and spontaneous character. They try to see the bright side of things and make the most out of any situation. While she can get serious when she needs to be, for the most part, Bees is an optimistic character with a cheery tone. For voice reference, refer to Judy Hopps from Zootopia.
(excited) *gasp* We could go live in the woods!
(with a gentle voice) You need some help with that?
(concerned, worried) Are you doing okay, Kori?...
Bruno’s main qualities are that he is kind, strong, and not the brightest tool in the shed. He is very loyal and tries to help his friends the best he can. His charisma and kindness should be very apparent in his voice, and should be pretty deep for a 16 year old. For those who want to audition, we would like to say that we’d prefer those auditioning to be people of colour, like Bruno, so we can get the right representation. Thank you!
[You are trying to stop two close friends from fighting] (in slight panic) M-maybe you two can compromise!
(annoyed) Do you have to smoke that in here?
(excited) I can make banana bread muffins!
Thadd is the type of kid to burst into a room without knocking. His lines should come off as very rude and sarcastic. Thadd’s voice is very raspy and high, almost like Vinnie’s from Ramshackle (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcgE0RNxWJw). However, for Thadd’s voice, we would like it a bit deeper, but still have the nuance of a pretty high voice for his age. It is also important to note that this character occasionally uses spanish words, as he is somewhat bilingual, so we would prefer if those auditioning were able to pull off a spanish accent in the voice.
[You burst into a room, suddenly] (rudely) What’s up, pendejos (say "pendejos" with a slight accent)
(sarcastically) Oh... fun...
Extras! Have some fun with the lines, improvise a bit! Extras are just going to be the very minor lines, so there really is no expectation for what we want with this role. Just have some fun with it! We are most likely going to be hiring more than one person for extra voice actors.
Oh my goodness, do you think he's ok?
Hey, move it!
What the hell...
