Dragon Ball: Saga of Kei
Project Overview
[ NOTE: THIS IS A RECAST FOR CERTAIN ROLES! Our first and second episodes are complete! Please give it a look to dive deeper into the lore. ]
Dragon Ball: Saga of Kei is a non-profit fanfiction series set several hundred years after the events of the 'canon' Dragon Ball timeline.
Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo and the other Z-Fighters have long since passed from the Earth with no intention of returning. Being the world's greatest defender, and with his passion for fighting still ablaze; Goku, using King Kai's abilities spoke to the people of his home world and worked with them to form a plan.
The Earth was precious, which was why Goku refused to leave it abandoned in its keepers absence. He concocted a plan to make the planet's fighters stronger, well aware that one day a threat would inevitably come to pass. His idea was simple and was built upon the one thing he spent his entire life doing: Fighting.
This is how the "Defender of The World" came to be.
A tournament to pit the strongest against the strongest; a battle to hone the power of the newer generations. Several hundred years have passed since its formation.
Our story begins through a new warrior, Kei's insight.

Requirement(s):
1. Decent Microphone: This is fairly obvious. As this is a voiced series, it's very important that what you're saying is audible, clear, crisp and as soothing to the ears as possible. I ask that you refrain from peeking your audio. This is the most important part of any voice actor's performance.
2. Ability to record lines (through Audacity or any program)
3. Access to Skype/Discord and Google Drive: Again, obviously, I need a way to get in contact with you. Skype and Discord are the two best ways to do this. My skype is listed on my profile. If you are casted, you will be asked to join the Saga of Kei Discord server for the sake of simple communcation. Due to the recent update from Skype, file size has been limited to such an extreme that transfering high quality audio is impossible through that application. This is why we are beginning to use Google Drive.
4. LOVE YOUR ROLE: I am very passionate about this project, and I'm dying to truly bring it to life. That being said, a huge step in actually making that dream come true is your own excitement. Please, ask questions, learn about your characters, do whatever you have to do to become utterly overjoyed with your role.

The direct descendant of Son Goku; Kei is a simple islander, born and raised in a simple time. He does not know of his family ties. He holds a lot of Goku's traits: Silly, light-hearted, yet strong willed and eager to grow strong. He is confident, though is aware he can always better himself and strives to do so. His time is upon him, he is certain.
"My name is Kei ... And I'm going to win."
"C'mon Guu(Goo), if I didn't think I could win I wouldn't go. You know me."

Formerly the youngest child of the Takahashi main branch, Shinichi was cast out as a child. Deemed too weak to be worthy and seeming beyond redemption, he has been stripped of his title and even his last name. Since his departure ten years ago, Shinichi has spent countless hours training, preparing for when he can reemerge and prove his worth. He has no desire to be linked to his family, however. Instead, he stands to demonstrate the strength of what one can become when left on their own.
[sarcastic overconfident]:"Here, I’ll make you a deal. I’ll give you some free shots… In fact, I’m gonna turn around, and when I feel more than a gust of wind, I’ll start fighting back."
"When I said you weren’t getting it, I wasn’t giving you permission to go on another tangent… Since words don’t seem to be doing the trick, here… Let me show you!"

A student of Guu, living on Saiyan Island alongside Kei and Hitoshi. He's a year older than Hitoshi and two above Kei. Calm, collected; the strong but silent type. Dedicated to his training, always aiming higher than where he currently resides.
"Yes sir!"
"We all do. But still. No one ever comes back from his ‘special regiment’."
"Take care of yourselves. I’ll wanna fight you both when you get back."
Another student, just younger than Kei by a few months. She's opinionated, brash and loud. Even a bit cocky in times she feels any type of challenge arising.
"I don’t know how. Sensei’s really scary when he wants to be."
"Yeah, I know... but what's it final step to, exactly?"
"Well… Good luck, I guess. Be careful."
Born to a self-appointed royal family, Hibiki has lived his life as expected. Nearing the age of 25, his time and efforts have been put toward upholding the family name. He has been deemed the best fighter of the main branch of Takahashi and thrust forward into the Defender of The World Tournament. He's brash, arrogant, and set in his ancestor's ways. As royality, he believes he stands above both other saiyans and humans.

"No name you could’ve been given would have any value. A failure will always be a failure, no matter what label they’re born with."
[angry, pushed to the brink, screaming over background noise]: "A peasant like yourself could NEVER understand! Stay in your place! In fact! I’ll show you where that place is!"

The primary antagonist of our first season, Dr. Gero, is a seemingly frail glass cannon. He pretends to carry himself with no confidence in his first appearance, but under the surface, he's radiating sinister intentions. He is on the cusp of a literal century long plot coming to fruition. In the past, he's been seen as a joke villain, but no longer. It's years later, but this is his time, make no mistake.
(sinister) ... This is more than a show. This is my magnum opus.
(deceptively sincere, feign innocence) My sincerest apologies. I lost track of the time!
(V.O, defeated, eerily calm) Twice... I’ve been utterly humiliated... Failure is not... An option. I was a fool in thinking 17 and 18 were stable enough to be released. I panicked. I panicked and ruined my own plot. Well... No more... Destroy my labs. Destroy my Androids... I will have... My vengeance. One way or... Another... Son Goku... I will have your head... Your’s... And those who follow you.
The undisputed leader of the Takahashi family. He is a king, and has full confidence in his position. It's what he plans to do in order to maintain his place that remains mysterious.
(establishing, commanding, radiating strength) "... Is it him?"
"That stain will not be allowed to fester. You’re the only person left I can trust with the task."
(reaffirming, squashing resistance) "... You said yourself, he has potential. I will see to it that it’s met."
If you watch Dragon Ball or Dragon Ball Z or even GT, you know this voice. Please do your best to match our previous VA (found in the first episode in the link at the top of the page). Energetic, thrilled, appearing to love his job.
"Welcome back, everyone! The air truly is ELECTRIC here this afternoon after an amazing first match!"
"Contestant #1: Hibiki, who hails from a legendary Saiyan clan, the Takahashi family! They’ve been competing for centuries, and we hope to see their elite put on quite a show!"
[horrified]: "H-Hold on a minute, sir! I implore you! Think about what you’re doing!"
The former 'Prince of All Saiyans' himself; Vegeta, like Goku, has long since lived in the afterlive. His recent actions are a mystery and he hasn't been heard from in quite some time.
"Tell me something ... Can Androids feel fear?"
"So, Kakarot's finally getting serious. Excellent."

Son Goku is Son Goku; simple as that. The former defender of the Earth has long since been living in Other World, spectating the living world and finding joy in his yearly tournament.
"My name is Goku! I'm a Saiyan, from Earth!"
"I am the Warrior you've heard of in legends. Pure of heart and awakened by FURY that's what I am!"
