"Dragon Ball" Manga Fandub - Red Ribbon Army Arc
Project Overview
Introduction
Welcome to my fandub for the "Dragonball" manga. These dubs are for fun, but I am striving to create a good quality product for each one, to give the cast involved something to be proud as well as ourselves. We know it's not always easy getting experience, and I want these projects to be a high quality project for people of any experience level to either just have fun doing or so people wanting to get more experience and for everyone to have something they're proud of to share. This is one of multiple dubs that are up or will being posted in the coming weeks. We are trying to build a surplus of videos up before they start going up in June. That way it will give the long term VA's for any of the projects some leeway if things come up down the road and they can't meet deadlines. Once June hits there will still be some coming up every so often but the majority of the projects for the next few months at least will be being listed this month or the beginning of April.
*Warning* This series is not NSFW but does have a bit more mature content, mainly around Roshi and Oolong being perverts
What I'm Looking For
Due to this and future projects like this being fandubs, unfortunately I am not able to offer monetary compensation due to copyright. Although it is unpaid though I would like to still have a level of professionalism and quality to the project. So I will be looking for people with:
- Because this is a very long series, please audition for the main cast or supporting characters that reoccur later on, only if you are willing to commit to a long term project. Other than the main crew the commitment isn't overly large for supporting characters but we would like to avoid having to change later on. If you aren't able to commit to long term though feel free to audition for extras, minor roles or supporting roles that do not reappear later in the story, so we don't have to recast if you have to leave.
- Good quality microphone, preferably XLR but if you have a USB mic do not let that deter you from auditioning since it is the sound quality I'm looking for and that's still definitely achievable with some USB mics.
- Little to no background noise, reverb or echo. Some we can definitely work with but if there is too much of any of these it greatly takes away from the quality of the audio and can be very jarring to listen to when mixed in with other audio.
- Discord is definitely preferred but not mandatory by any means but will make things much easier to work on the project as a whole.
- A good attitude! I'm hoping to form a great group of people to continue working with me on these projects going forward and that is obviously much easier if you can get along well with me and the rest of the team!
Parts
Considering the size of this manga, there are a lot of roles that are available and will continue to be available going forward. Aside from the main roles, many of which we still need to cast, we have a large need for many versatile VA's for voicing many of the minor and extra characters. If you are auditioning for a bigger role, feel free to let us know in your audition that you are interested in voicing extras as well. If you have a demo reel feel free to send that on the extras listing or you can send it to me directly on discord as well.
If you would like any feedback regarding your audition as well please let me know when you post it and I'll be happy to give feedback to anyone wanting some asap!

Although we are currently doing the video editing ourselves, with the amount of work we are going to be producing going forward we are very open to having help with the editing. Because of the nature of the project, we aren't able to provide compensation for this role either unfortunately, but if you are interested in gaining more experience and credits to your name, or just love the content and would like to work on a project for fun, we would love to hear from you!
The editing for the manga's is going to be fairly simple, just lots of transitions and words loading as speech is being overlaid. As well as inputting the audio tracks into the video as well obviously. There will also be an opening theme song that will be played at the beginning of each episode, but once that's produced the first time there won't be a new one till the next theme comes in down the road. Colonel Silver is the first leader from the Red Ribbon Army that Goku encounters. He is not a very large role as far as the villains go but he does serve as the introduction to the Red Ribbon Army and their goal.
As with everyone else in the RR Army, he is purely evil and doesn't care about anything or anyone other than his job.

Commander Red is the leader of the Red Ribbon Army. He is a very angry man with a height complex. He doesn't take any failures and will stop at absolutely nothing to achieve his goal, even if it means sacrificing every member of his army.
He is generally angry and yelling and whoever voices him needs to be able to pull off that convincingly. He is throughout the entire RR saga, so he is one of the biggest additional characters, even though his role is quite sporadic.

Our army's using all its power to find the Dragon Balls, you say? Well when the hell will we be able to get them all then?! The radar's working properly, isn't it!?

Black is Red's right hand man and although does not talk a significant amount initially, he has an extremely important and bigger role later in the saga. He is always with Red so he is in the saga mostly from the beginning as well.
He is extremely refined and intelligent and is overall the brains of the organization.

Something has been bugging me for a while now... It seems that this boy has allies... There's no way a kid like him could possibly be able to create a radar more advanced than ours, after all. He's probably working with some genius scientist...
It seems like it was too late for us to realize that Goku's power far exceeds that of anything we could possibly imagine... We'll just have to leave the Dragon balls behind and retreat...

General White is the first real villain Goku faces from the Army. He controls Muscle Tower in the northern area. He doesn't really fight much but he does observe as Goku advances through each level of the tower, meaning that he is in most chapters in this part of the saga.
He is a bit cocky, as is most members of the army and looks forward to fighting Goku at one point, but soon realizes that's a bad idea. he is a fairly standard general, overseeing the battles going on.

Murasaki is an extremely talented ninja, but he is also a complete idiot. He thinks he is incredibly stealthy and dangerous but a huge part of his battle ends up being a bit of a joke with Goku feeling more like they're playing a game, than fighting.
Whoever voices him needs to be able to pull off the cocky aspect to him while also coming off as completely clueless.

Metallic is a minor villain that Goku fights on one of the floors in Muscle Tower. He is made out of metal and is essentially a giant Arny from Terminator style guy.
He needs to sound very tough and strong since that is essentially all his character is.
The stairs to go up are right over there. But unless you can beat me, you won't be able to go up them.

Android #8 is supposed to be an evil android created by the RR Army but he is a failure in their eyes, as he completely hates violence and is scared of almost everything. Goku ends up encountering him and he accompanies him through the rest of Muscle Tower.
He is a very big robot but he needs to have a very gentle giant esc voice.

The chief of the village up north is held captive by General White and Goku infiltrates the tower to save him. He is a very nice guy but also comes off a bit kooky at times as well.

This character is a more minor character but he does show up throughout the majority of the arc. He is usually responsible for informing Commander Red about what is happening at all of the other locations.
He seems to be panicked quite often but he should have a fairly official tone to his voice though still.

This is just a small role but worthy of an actual casting none the less. This character appears in 1 chapter when Goku arrives in the big city. He is a very cocky martial artist that is challenging people for their money. If they win then they win 100,000 zeni.
Goku challenges him and he thinks it's a joke at first and acts all cocky until he realizes how strong he is. He ends up snapping and getting completely enraged and forgetting all form for fighting just trying to beat him.

The policeman finds Goku and ends up giving him a ride to Bulma's house, and although that seems very small, he does end up coming inside to get his scooter looked at as well. He spams over a couple chapters as well.

A girl named Bulma, huh? You don't know her citizen number, either?
Bulma, right? That's a pretty rare name. It shouldn't take too long....

Nah, I can't really leave. I'm not really sure who you are, after all... If it turns out I led a bad person here, there will be big trouble.
Dr. Briefs is Bulma's dad and although he is an incredible genius, you would not necessarily know that from talking to him. He is a more minor character that will appear now and then throughout the series even if in just smaller sections. Because of this, I'd love it if whoever gets this role is able to still be a part of things when he comes back up again.

Mrs. Briefs is Bulma's mom and a very attractive but not very bright lady. She is essentially the definition of dumb blonde and balances out the family. She is very sweet but is not always the smartest even when she tries to be.

General Blue is arguably the largest role out of the RR Army saga. He fights Goku multiple times and spans over quite a bit of the saga. He is extremely strong, attractive and cocky. He is also extremely fixated on his looks.
His character is homosexual and whoever is cast for the role must be comfortable with that. Members of LGBTQ+ are strongly encouraged to audition.
He is a very important role to the saga and will require someone that is able to capture every part of his personality. He is strong willed and hard headed and absolutely does not give up no matter the situation or however many times you think he's already died.

Captain Dark is a smaller role in the saga. He is sent to lead a troop of soldiers to attack Roshi's island and take him captive. They however do not realize that Roshi is a master martial artist. He is a very big guy with an ego and attitude to match

General Yellow is one of the smaller Generals that appears. He originally starts off fighting Bora and when he realizes he turns tail and runs. Realizing that he's in huge trouble though decides to get brave again and go back.
He goes back and forth between confident and cowardly through his entire section and needs to be able to capture that.
Just hand over the ball already!! You don't need it do you?!

Bora is an extremely strong native man who protects the holy ground around Korin's temple. He is incredibly large and powerful and takes out an entire army unit himself, however he does not stand up as well to the assassin.
He is a very important character in the arc as he spurs the entire story forward as to why Goku goes after the rest of the dragon balls and the red ribbon army. He does have a bit smaller role at this point but he does come back later in the series, so I would ideally love whoever gets cast to be able to come back when he does later on.

This is the sacred tower that stretches all the way to the heavens, Korin Tower. I tried to climb it once when I was younger, but couldn't do it.... No one's ever seen the top.
Upa is a major character that comes in sporadically at this point but becomes much bigger of a role in a little while. He is a very small and young native boy who looks up to his father Bora greatly. He wants to become stronger like his father more than anything else.
He admires Goku's strength as well and ends up going with him for a while later on. He is very sweet and innocent and needs a VA who can really capture that innocence.

Mercenary Tao is a pure evil person who does not care about anyone or anything. He is hired as a high paid assassin because of his strength and ability to not care who his target is. He is extremely cold and calculating and will kill even a small child if he is paid to do so.
He has a huge amount of arrogance due to his strength and ability to defeat any opponent he has ever come across. So much so that when he is asked to kill one of the General's of the RR Army to show his strength, he does so with his arms behind his back, using only his tongue to kill him.
He is very calm and arrogant most of the time, but when he realizes Goku is stronger later on and able to compete with him, his composure flies out the window and he begins to snap.
He is an extremely important character and needs someone that is able to voice him now and preferably during the next tournament saga as well when he reappears.

Korin is a mythical creature that has lived atop his tower for hundreds of years. He trains people without them realizing it while they fight him to be able to drink from his special chalice.
He is a reoccurring character in the series and preferably would have a VA that is open to coming back whenever he comes up again at different points.
