What is this Project?
This project aims to bring the beautifully crafted side stories of Doki Doki Literature Club Plus to life via a talented cast of voice actors, and to do that, I need help from you! This project sets out to post the fandub on YouTube, giving the viewers a more immersive experience with the 4 main characters.
The side stories of Doki Doki Literature Club Plus seek to demonstrate the meaningful relationships and blossoming friendships between the main cast of the game. The Side Stories are a story expansion included in Doki Doki Literature Club Plus, taking place in an alternate universe of Doki Doki Literature Club where the Protagonist doesn't exist, it shows how the club was formed by Monika with the assumption that she never had her epiphany, which is referenced in the main campaign story. There are six side stories, each with two parts, and a short bonus story with only one part (Description taken from the Fandom Wiki for DDLC+).
What’s the Game Plan?
This project will release each side story part as its own “episode” on YouTube, resulting in 7 episodes posted to YouTube. Since this project will span about a year, there is also a plan to keep social media pages like TikTok and YouTube active with short videos and skits debuting our amazing cast once our casting call closes, so be prepared to record lines, even if your side story isn’t in production. This is also to keep our actors involved in the project, even when their side story isn’t in production.
Before you Audition
Doki Doki Literature Club handles very serious topics, thus it is required that all actors are at least 16 years old.
There will not be payment for this project as it is a fanwork, and making profit off of DDLC fan projects is against Team Salvato’s wishes.
Don’t count yourself out! Though you may not feel your voice fits a certain character, auditioning means you will be considered no matter what!
This is a long project where every auditionable character is a lead. You need to make sure you have the time to meet deadlines. With proper communication, deadlines can be semi-flexible, just make sure it doesn’t become a recurring issue. I will also do my part to give cast members enough time to get their lines recorded.
Audition Requirements
Do not slate your audition
It is strongly encouraged that a microphone is used to record auditions. Phone audio can be used, but please assure that the sound is well treated and as high of a quality as you can get.
I’m looking for the best audio quality you can get! Please try your best to reduce white noise as well as sound proof your recording environment for the best possible recording (Easy examples include recording in blankets or in a closet)
Multiple takes of different interpretations are strongly encouraged. Show off what you’re capable of!

Please include your discord tag in your audition. Lines, announcements, and feedback will be given through a discord server cast members will be invited to.

Voice Actor
The narrator is exactly what they sound like–a narrator. They describe the scene, setting, and character actions. Despite not being one of the main girls, the narrator is still very important in keeping the flow of emotions and setup for the side stories.
There are no voice requirements for the narrator, since they have no face or personality to match to their lines. What’s important about the narrator is their tone and ability to match the mood of the scene. The voice should be nice and calm at all times–think audiobook.
The more Sayori speaks, the more she fails to control her voice, falling victim to the overwhelming sadness clutching at her throat and chest.
Monika looks up at Yuri, seeking affirmation. Yuri looks away.

Voice Actor
Monika is noted by the other characters to be smart, confident and athletic. She is not as talkative as the other girls, but this is implied to not be through choice. Monika is also known to be quite popular, which causes the protagonist to have an admiration for her. She always has a calm, gentle expression on her face and is portrayed as being mature and hard-working. (Description taken from the Fandom Wiki). Monika in the side stories is responsible and mature, being someone the other members can confide in. She is a perfectionist, which can also lead to her butting heads with other members like Natsuki when there is a conflict of interest.
Her voice should be a medium to high range, she is the only character with a canon voice, but that does not mean you need to replicate it. Voice Actor
Sayori is initially portrayed as the character archetype of a Genki Girl, expressing a bubbly and cheery disposition. She is very clumsy, noted for finding ways to accidentally hurt herself or to drop random things. Regardless, she is shown to be a jokingly cunning individual. She states that writing poetry and studying literature is different to her than other interests because it helps her explore her feelings. It is later revealed that she suffers from bad depression and works so hard to make the people around her happy to cope with her own lack of self-love amongst other things. Her voice should be on the higher side, but not so comically high pitched that her more emotional moments come off as comical and unfitting. She should be carefree most of the time, but her lows should be emotional and moving
[Playful] You’re such a sweetheart when you’re not being shy.
[Guilty; apologetic] I actually realized before the club meeting today that I made a mistake. I got so caught up in the chance to get closer to you that I forgot to think about what you wanted. And that we probably have different ways to make friends.
[Hurt; concerned] …I wasn’t ready to share those. Now you’re worrying about me… I don’t want that.
Voice Actor
Yuri is portrayed throughout the majority of the game as being shy, generous, polite, apologetic, very intelligent, mature, eloquent, and passionate about topics she is interested in, although she is also very insecure, awkward, and has a tendency to act slightly condescending and patronizing to mask her self-doubt. Her façade of passivity and level-headed nature occasionally breaks, however, as Yuri does argue passionately and aggressively with Natsuki over their differing opinions on writing styles and types of literature. Yuri has a deep desire to be liked by others and is afraid to speak her mind on certain matters as she believes it will make her seem unlikable. Due to her social ineptitude, she can be innocently insensitive, but once she realizes what she said could be considered rude, she almost immediately apologizes, repeatedly saying she did not mean it. Yuri should have a low to mid pitch and mature tone. Yuri is shy, and should speak softly. Do not make her voice so soft that she cannot be heard in your audition. Amplify is a good tool to use if you find your audition needs a little boost. She doesn’t speak to others often, and she should not sound comfortable talking to others.
[Calculating; brainstorming] The key question is why we act like this towards each other, but have been able to be friends with Sayori and Monika.
[Earnest, gentle. Semi-joking at end] Well, Sayori really likes your baking. And she makes you laugh. …And she complains a lot.

Voice Actor
Natsuki appears to be a brash, blunt, cranky, and even arrogant girl at first, but she has a cute, softer interior, causing Monika to class her as the real-life embodiment of a tsundere. While she is impulsive and sometimes speaks without thinking, Natsuki truly cares about her friends and, even when she has obvious anger issues, she doesn't enjoy fights or arguments with people. Over the course of the game, it is shown that she worries about Yuri, and, on one occasion, she gives the protagonist a note asking him to help Yuri, fearing that if she spoke out then it would cause more arguments. Natsuki is very stubborn and has a hard time expressing how she feels and what she wants. When repeatedly challenged, she often becomes awkward and tongue-tied, then aggressive, and then simply bursts into tears. (Description pulled from the fandom wiki)
Natsuki is your classic tsundere. High in pitch, but not hesitating to spit out rude or callous remarks. She has walls that she is usually unwilling to let down, and that should be present in your performance.
[Angry; hurt] Well, it’s obvious that I’m not wanted here, so I’m just going to leave. But I really would have appreciated you being more upfront about it.
[Embarrassed] That was like years ago! You don’t think that I’ve grown out of it by now?
[Apologetic, but still a little defensive] But it’s my fault for being overly sensitive. If I have a problem, I’m not gonna demand for everyone around me to change!
