Monika is the poster girl and primary antagonist of Doki Doki Literature Club!. She is one of the main characters and the president of the Literature Club until she was replaced by Sayori after being deleted in Act 3. Over the course of the game, it is revealed that Monika is self-aware, causing her to create many game-breaking glitches in pursuit of the player. You cannot write poems for her until near the end of the game in Act 3.

Yuri is one of four main characters in Doki Doki Literature Club! and one of the members of the Literature Club, later succeeding Sayori as the vice-president in Act 2 after she was deleted by Monika in Act 1, and one of three characters for whom you can write poems.

Natsuki is one of four main characters in Doki Doki Literature Club!, a member of the Literature Club, and one of three characters for whom you can write poems.
"It's just funny seeing you react to it."
"If you're not going to take this club very seriously, then get out!"
"I-It's not like I like you or anything!"
Sayori is one of four main characters in Doki Doki Literature Club! and one of three characters for whom you can write poems. She is the protagonist's childhood friend and vice-president of the Literature Club in Act 1; after Monika is deleted, she replaces her as president in Act 4, eventually displaying self-awareness patterns quite similar to Monika when she was president.
