Divinity Volume 1 Fandub

Divinity Volume 1 Fandub

Project Overview

Hiya! So what this project is going to cover the first volume of the comics (which i highly reccomend reading before auditioning). For those unfamiliar with the series, here's the description from the Valiant Store:

At the height of the Cold War, the Soviet Union – determined to win the Space Race at any cost – green lit a dangerously advanced mission. They sent a man farther into the cosmos than anyone has gone before or since. Lost in the stars, he encountered something unknown. Something that…changed him. Long thought lost and erased from the history books, he has suddenly returned, crash-landing in the Australian Outback. The few that have been able to reach him believe him to be a deity -– one who turned the scorched desert into a lush oasis. They say he can bend matter, space, and even time to his will. Earth is about to meet a new god. And he’s a communist. How long can it be before the first confrontation between mankind and DIVINITY begins?

Some things to keep in mind:
-I am looking for clear mic quality, this will play a huge part in the decision-making
-Please read the notes attached to each character
-Abram Adams has a fairly lengthy role, so anyone going for it should be ready for lots and lots of lines.
-While I am okay with simply contacting through e-mail, Skype would be easier for us to go back and forth for lines

Sorry guys, but I really don't think this is actually gonna happen, just not enough interest it looks like. I'll keep the project open until the final date and hold out for a miracle flood of auditions, but if that doesn't happen, I'm going to have to shut it down. Sorry for any inconvenience and for auditioning, it does mean a lot.

Ninjak/Colin King
open
Unpaid

Ninjak/Colin King: Secret British agent and ninja, armed to the teeth with advanced weaponry and martial arts knowledge, the playboy by day is a formidable opponent to say the least. Despite a snarky comeback loaded for every sentence anyone could ever say, Ninjak is ready for any mission and will complete his orders with extreme prejudice. Beneath the facade, however, lies a passed marred with family upheavals and lost love.
NOTE: Accent should be slightly cockney, but still maintain an air of someone who feels smarter than everyone else in the room.

  • “Blimey. Here we go.”

  • “Everyone stop… something’s happening. He’s become aware of our presence! Get ready. Be ready… for anything.”

  • “I don’t have a problem with what we did. I have a problem with keeping him around. He’s a ticking bomb, Neville, and it’s just a matter of time before he goes off.”

Unpaid

Anya: The child of Abram Adams, raised by another man, but even despite this she knows who her father is in a heartbeat. Her life is shrouded in mystery, having been cut short by cancer, but is still said to have lived a full life. As a young girl, she would have been all Abram would have ever wanted in a child. Sweet, young, and innocent. Above all, she loves her parents, and is one of the crucial ties Abram still has to his humanity.
NOTE: Russian accent, character is young girl and should seem fairly distracted when speaking.

  • “Daddy?”

  • ”And then I got sick. A sick that the doctor’s couldn’t fix.”

  • “I’m getting tired. Is it okay if I leave now?”

Professor
open
Unpaid

Professor: A professor who taught Abram during his youth. A man of knowledge and a great speaker.
NOTE: Russian accent. Should sound intellectual, and not too old. Should be someone pushing his late 60’s.

  • “Can anyone tell me what it is? Yes, Abram?”

  • “The …biggest hurdle is time. We have the technology to travel to distant stars, but we do not have the life span. Which is why we must change our perception of time. Time is not absolute. Just as we become masters of space and distance, we must understand the true qualities of time as it relates to distance.”

Gilad: As Aric is a man out of time, Gilad is a man of time. Cursed with immortality, he and his two brothers have lived through all that Earth has seen, and all that it will see. An eternal warrior seeking rest, Gilad has learnt to be humble through his innumerable battles and lifetimes, a man who now speaks first before fighting. But still, he is cursed to fight for the Earth, and will crush any perceived threat to it with extreme force and skill.
NOTE: Accent I’m looking for is fairly formal American, bordering on British.

  • “This isn’t good… Tired (progressively weaker) more than we can handle… I think… I think… We made him angry.”

  • “Get ready to close the containment pod, Livewire!”

  • “We’d like you to come with us, Abram. We know who you are. We’d like to help.”

XO Manowar/Aric
open
Unpaid

XO Manowar/ Aric: A man out of time, Aric is a warrior from the age of the Visigoths, having been abducted by an alien race known as the Vine. Spending several years as a slave to the creatures from afar, Aric lead a rebellion against his captors, slaying them after taking their prized suit of armour. With the ability to just about annihilate all that is before him, Aric travels back to Earth, only to discover that light speed travel has left his ancient home in the dust. Now in the modern day, Aric briefly attempted to take over Italy in the name of the Visigoths, returned to the Vine home world and slaughtered millions of their soldiers, millions of others flock to him as a renowned savior. But beneath all his fantastical adventures and abilities, lies a deeply wounded man out of time (even with the armour keeping him up to date on the world’s events). Aric joined Unity in an attempt to see if battle and comradery of his current caliber, as well as saving the world, would perhaps allow him to feel the same as he did in the time of the Visigoths.
NOTE: As far as research dictates, the Visigoth language is akin to Old German. As such, I feel a German accent would be appropriate for the character. While I won’t mark off any candidates for not using a German (or at the very least, middle European) accent, it will improve odds. If you feel the accent may throw you off, but you still want to go for it, please record two variations (one with accent and one without).

  • “Am I the only one questioning this mission?”

  • “By all appearances it seems as if he’s improved lives, brought healing, and created a safe haven for all those who seek it.”

  • “He’s in our heads!”

Eva: A passionate, endearing woman, Abram was Eva’s world before he chose to leave the Earth in search of the stars. The two knew each other for quite some time, and spent many nights of passion with him before she discovered, and announced, that she was pregnant with Abram’s child. Despite Abram Adams still leaving her, regardless of the announcement, Eva continued on to live a full life, remarrying and raising Anya with her new husband. Nonetheless, she always held out that Abram would return, as he promised. She is all too sorry, he kept his promise too late.
NOTE: Russian accent, should speak in a kind tone.

  • “You’re late! But you brought flowers! You are lucky this time!”

  • “I believe in you. You come back, Abram. You come back for me.”

  • “Abram… Abram… Why are we here? How?... It’s… We shouldn’t be here…”

GIN-GR
open
Unpaid

GIN-GR: MI-6’s resident giant robot and Unity’s traveling base, this mechanical giant comes equipped with it all, and deals out punishment wherever it needs dealing, and is by no means gentle about it.
NOTE: I’m looking for a heavy voice here. This robot is building-sized, and it’s got a whacky design to it, so really, go nuts. If you have voice synthesizers, by all means go for it, long as it turns out bass-like and synthetic, I’ll be happy.

  • “Non-lethal stun blasts initiated.”

  • “Unity extraction commencing. Tractor beam engaged.”

Neville Alcott
open
Unpaid

Neville Alcott: Handler of Unity and top level MI-6 agent, Mr. Alcott is business-minded and demands respect in all he does. He gives the team their missions and relays commands from upstairs. A past shrouded in mystery, this man is an unknown entity, but one, thanks to his sheer sphere of influence, that should never be taken lightly.
NOTE: Very formal British accent. Not posh, but should act as though he’s always in a business meeting.

  • “So as I was saying. Divinity remains benign… for now. But from all intelligence reports he has enough power to… well…  to do whatever the hell he feels like.”

  • “Your missions is simple. Contain… or terminate. No questions asked.”

  • “But as you can imagine, actually doing anything to him seems… problematic.”

Abram Adams: A beyond gifted human being, Abram was at his peak mentally and physically before a secret, soviet space mission sent him, and two others, hurtling towards the edges of reality. Now back on Earth, and having been bestowed with unbelievable, reality-warping abilities and an understanding of the universe as a whole, Abram wishes to eliminate war and hate from the world. Abram is a man, now a god, of science and peace, seeking to give all humans what they need. But even with his vast power, he will never be able to regain anything from his old life, ever again.
NOTE: Deep voice, Russian accent. Should be a fairly calm voice, but never devoid of emotion. Abram should always seem to be in thought.

  • The indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole.

  • “He understands his motivation. It is the same one that drove him to the mission. The desire for the experience. The desire to feel something new. Abram simply wanted to feel… everything.”

  • “You’re not here to help, and you have no real idea who I am, or you wouldn’t have come with weapons and a plan of action. You’re here to… contain me.”

Livewire/ Amanda Mckee
open
Unpaid

Livewire/Amanda Mckee: Able to control machines with force of will alone, Amanda McKee was orphaned at a young age, and sent to live in a group home. It was there that billionaire visionary and founder of the Harbinger Foundation, Toyo Harada, discovered her and took her into his care, rescuing her from the abusive environments of her early life. For this Amanda became unfailingly devoted to Harada and his mission. All that changed, however, when Peter Stanchek joined the Harbinger Foundation. Believing that Peter could help balance Harada’s immense power, Livewire aided Harada's wayward student in his escape from the Harbinger Foundation and sent herself into exile following her betrayal. However, global crises forced Livewire back out into the open, and after discovering the ill-intents of her now former master, Amanda joined Unity in an attempt to distance herself from Hamada and perhaps redeem herself for all her wrongs.
NOTE: Loud and outspoken, accent should be American, does not really matter which region.

  • “Forming the Prison-Pod now! Everyone keep… (confused) Aric? Ninjak?”

  • “Digital recordings of his wife and daughter are working! POUR IT IN!”

  • “We should have waited. What kind of precedent does this set? We didn’t give him a chance to show his true intentions.”

David Camp: Thrill-seeker and adventurer, David was a man who lived day to day, seeking simple pleasures and adrenaline rushes. But after a fateful climbing accident left him scarred and dazed, an encounter with the being known as Divinity brought David to know of a new, far larger cause: to bring the message of hope to the world… whether it’s ready or not.
NOTE: Looking mainly for Australian accent here, but given that David could be a traveler (it is not explicitly stated) anything could work really.

  • “Got this… just a matter of figuring out which step to take first…”

  • “CRAP…!”

  • “Travelers? Are you prepared to lay down your lives?!”

Doctor: A Russian scientist who, along with several other generals, sent Abram Adams into the deep chasms of the beyond. He is one of few, if any, who knew Abram before his transformation and is still alive.
NOTE: Russian accent. Character will be going through young adult and elderly life stages. Will have far larger role in Issue 2.

  • (Elderly) “He sent me. He knew you were here. He wanted me to give you the full report. He doesn’t care.”

  • (Elderly) “He was no longer the soviet cosmonaut we sent into space long ago.”

  • (Young) “We have a rocket and a plan that will take you farther than anyone has gone. This will be a thirty-year mission enabled by a series of cryogenic chambers.”

Nikolai: One of Abram’s friends from his years in school, more than likely a former possible candidate for the space mission. He is, however, in no way bitter over his loss. He truly is happy that their nation will succeed with someone close to him at the forefront of it all.
NOTE: Russian accent. Approaching 20, should have a fairly light tone about him. He seems one who enjoys conversation over solitude.

  • “You think you’ll get picked for the mission?”

  • “Me too, comrade. You are the smartest of all of us. You deserve it.”

Physician: Chief medical officer of the mission. Ensures the health of everyone going off into space for the long haul.
NOTE: Russian accent. Middle-aged, should sound fairly nasally.

  • “You are a perfect specimen of health and fitness, Abram. You are doing very well.”

  • “You won’t be completely under. It just slows your metabolism and your aging. You will remain in a semi-conscious, dream-like state so that your mind can cope with prolonged isolation.”

  • “Getting close to launch time. Are you nervous?”

Myshka: One of three cosmonauts whom was sent into the very depths of the unknown. While Abram achieved powers beyond comprehension, she and her comrade were left behind to suffer through the unknown…

NOTE: Russian, should be a slightly hefty voice due to drug and steroid injections, but heft should not be to comical levels.

  • “We’re behind you. What do you think it is?”

  • “We must continue… there is no going back Abram.”

  • “You had to have known this was a one-way trip, Abram. We must press forward.”

Kazmir: A boulder of a man, and one of the three cosmonauts sent to the edge of the unknown, Kazmir was a man of science and one who had pledged his very bare skin at the end to the state. But at the end, for him, there was no Soviet Union to save him, only the universe to take him.
NOTE: Russian accent. Fairly deep, bass voice.

  • “There is no heaven, comrade. Only that which we cannot yet explain.”

  • “Abram, no! What are you doing?!”

  • “How are you able to breathe…?”
