Project Overview
Rational
From the start of 2009, I’ve always wanted to be a professional animator. Now that I am going to be attending university I want to show what I can do, how well I can do it and push myself to do even better than before. I came up with the idea of animating myself for my FMP at the beginning of this course and have been adamant about doing so when the time came because by animating myself, I will be improving my drawing skills and understanding of the motion of Human Form. Coping with D.I.D, Depression and Anxiety, I can express something important to me, I can show what weighs me down every day, and I can create something a few other people may relate to.
However, I do not want to set myself targets that I cannot hit. I will set myself realistic goals with the right time plan to fully complete a short animation.
Project Concept( dissociate . )

"Dissociative identity disorder (formerly known as multiple personality disorder): the alternation of two or more distinct personality states with impaired recall among personality states. In extreme cases, the host personality is unaware of the other, alternating personalities; however, the alternate personalities can be aware of all the existing personalities."
"...a loss of identity as related to individual distinct personality states, and loss referring to time, sense of self and consciousness."
Dissociate is an animation of an androgynous person in the bathtub experiencing noticeable symptoms of D.I.D and showing extreme discomfort and anxiety. I will be the base for which the character's appearance and movements are drawn from.
Each personality/identity will exhibit weird behaviour, but will not visually change. One will sit with their feet on the bottom of the tub and both feet on the wall, another will brush their non-existent hair, and another dribbling on their legs with a snarl. At this time, their will be five in total.
The animation will;
Have a canvas ratio of 16:9 (1080x720 or 1920 x 1080)
Frame Rate of 24fp
I want the animation to be unsettling or give the viewer a sense of confusion and to be weirded out by what the character Does in the Bath. People will not understand what is happening unless they commit to sitting down and Watching the film. The only audio involved will be of the voice actor, ambient noise and sound effects (of natural cause).
I will use digital software to create this animation, such as; Paint Tool Sai, Photoshop CC, Animate CC, and Premiere Pro CC.
I have and will continue to take pictures and make recordings of myself in the bath. No footage will be shown or exhibited freely to the public or to anyone privately. Some footage will be accurate to my own behaviour in the bath, however, other shoots will be acted deliberately for reference purposes.
The Style for this Piece will be Hand-drawn Animation without Colour. Black on White. SIMPLE linework.
