Disney Podcast

Disney is a studio that has formed many people’s childhoods, and several of their films are still highly praised to this day. With so many films with differing stories, they provide plenty of material for discussions. As such, I think it’d be very interesting to get various people together to talk about these movies and how they’ve impacted us over the years.

The podcast will be centered around animated Disney films from each era, starting from the Golden Age all the way to the Revival Era. The only exception will be the Wartime Era films, as most of them don’t have consistent enough stories to discuss.

What I’m looking for:

• People that have a Discord, as that’ll be the most convenient way to get everyone together.
• While this may go without saying, I’m searching for people who are quite familiar with Disney films. While you don’t need to have seen every single movie, I do request that you don’t send in an application unless you’ve watched at least half of them.
• People that are respectful of differing opinions, as that’ll probably be the norm here.
• People with more unpopular opinions on the films. It’s not a requirement, but it would definitely get discussions going a lot easier than if we all shared the same opinions and viewpoints.
• People who are comfortable with speaking around multiple other people and can carry conversations rather easily. It’s fine if you’re a bit shy (I am too), but please make sure that you actively contribute.
• People who are at least 18. Nothing against those that are younger, but I just want to assure that everyone handles these discussions maturely.
• While this may be obvious, if you’re considering participating then please make sure you’re available enough for it. Having a few hours free in your schedule would be best.
• While I’m not expecting professional mic quality, please don’t use a very low quality microphone. While background noise is acceptable, make sure that it isn’t drowning out your voice and that people can still hear you clearly. If it is obvious that your background noise is distracting the others involved then you may be asked to activate push-to-talk.
• And while this is in no way a requirement, another person who can record as a backup in case something happens to my own recording would be appreciated. OBS is recommended. 

If you believe you can fulfill most (if not all) of the things listed above, then please send me a private message answering the questions below.

For these questions, answer them in a voice recording. You can upload this wherever you like. YouTube, Google Drive, etc., as long as I can easily view it.

While that may seem like an odd request, it’s the easiest way for me to get a quick feel for your personality and how comfortable you are with answering basic questions, as well as your mic quality. Don’t worry, some awkwardness is okay.

• Do you have any favorite Disney songs?
• How have Disney movies impacted your life? Would you consider yourself a more casual or dedicated fan?
• What do you think you can contribute to the podcast? Are you more knowledgeable about Disney films than the average person? Are you good at carrying/holding conversations? Do you have any unpopular opinions that you think would spark interesting discussions? Are you able to record the podcast as a backup? Etc.
• Do you have any suggestions on topics/questions that could be brought up during the podcast?

No need to elaborate too much on these questions, as that will be for the actual podcast. Aside from the very last one, I ask that you please try your best to answer all of these, but if you *absolutely* don’t have an answer to one or two of them, you can skip them. I won’t share your answers with the others; it’s just to help me determine who would be the best fit for the podcast in comparison to the other people involved.

My goal is to have a maximum of 8 people, including myself. Any more than that and it could get a bit chaotic. I may make exceptions if I get a lot of submissions that I think would add a lot to the podcast, but there’s no guarantee of that.

If you’ve been accepted, you’ll receive a response from me where I will give you my Discord username so you can add me. Once I have everyone I’ll get us all together on a server. Before we do anything else I would like for us to have a brief call to see how we all interact as a group to sort of get a feel for our chemistry and how things could go. From there we’ll plan out an appropriate date and time that works best for us.

I won’t be setting any strict time limit for this podcast, so we can discuss for as long as we’re all available and willing. However, if we surpass 5 or so hours then I think it may be best to wrap things up and continue another day, though it’s highly doubtful it will go on for that long.

Once we’re all ready and the podcast is ready to begin, I will be using a document of questions/topics that I have typed up beforehand to help give us some basic conversation starters. However, we don’t need to rely on them if it’s obvious that the discussion is being carried just fine without them. I will be there to moderate to make sure potential debates don’t get too heated, people don’t talk over each other, and that things don’t go too off-track. Hopefully neither of those things will be a problem, though.

Once we’re finished, I will begin editing (probably with the help of a friend) and then upload the video to YouTube. If you have a channel or some other account of yours on other social media that you would like advertised, you can plug it at the end of the podcast and I’ll link it in the description.
