What is Digimon Alternative?
Digimon Alternative is an original Digimon story that I've been writing since last fall. The plan is to create an audiobook/radioplay of the fanfic one chapter at a time and release it on YouTube. There will not be any animation, only a still frame of art. There are currently 6 chapters published, which is almost halfway through the story.
Digimon Alternative follows a young woman named Tess. She is an introvert and complacent in her casual life. Her world is thrown for a loop when the roommate she has lived with since college admits she is engaged and plans on moving out. Before she can begin to process the change, she is transported to a Digital World on the brink of destruction. Now she has to survive in a strange new place while simultaneously looking for a way back home. Luckily, she'll find help along the way.
Recurring themes of Digimon Alternative are that people never stop changing and introspection can be helpful at any stage in our lives. I also wanted to emphasize the relationship between the Digidestined and their partner Digimon as a means for mutual growth.

Things to note:
We will use discord for communication, so please include your discord name in your audition.
Actors must be ages 18+ as this project contains mature themes (no sexual content though).

I updated the compensation to properly align with my intentions. Although I don't anticipate this project being particularly profitable, any and all money received would be distributed amongst the cast.
Also, only a bit more than a week left, so make sure you get your audition in!
The story starts with a flashback prologue of the main character, Tess, when she was 15 years old. Young Tess is sweet and excitable. Her intensity is beginning to ease as she becomes more self-conscious.
This is a Minor Role. The audition lines are her only lines of dialogue. Ideally I would like to cast the same person for Young Tess and "Older" Tess, so please audition for both if you are interested!
Young Tess has a middle-high voice and general American accent. She has an attitude and is very sarcastic when she gets older, so I wouldn't expect her to sound too sweet.
[frazzled to quiet] "It's! -uh - there was a... Um! - n-nevermind. Sorry for waking you."
[lying and trying to placate her father's worry] "Yeah! No, it's totally fine. Just a bad dream."
[trying to convince herself] "It was just a dream... It was just a dream"
Tess's Father is in his mid-40s. He has a busy job but finds time to be a loving and caring father/husband. His is mild-mannered and often tired.
Her father only makes an appearance in the prologue with these two lines.
His voice should be medium pitched with a kind tone (well, as kind as he can sound when he's also a bit spooked).
[scared awake, taking in the situation] "Tess! What the hell is going on?! Are you okay?!"
[caring] "Are you sure you're alright?"
Tess is a 28 year old accountant living a calm, quiet life. She is an introvert with a dry sense of humor and speaks fluent sarcasm. She struggles to open up to people but once she does, she cares deeply.
She is the main focal point of the story.
Her voice is medium/medium-low pitch with a general American accent.
[sarcastic, then caring] "Oh, it's great! They even gave me my own beverage to torture myself with... But, don't worry about me."
[surprised by an engagement reveal] "What?! That's awesome, you guys! Wait, when? How? What did I miss after this morning?!"
[defensive and down] "I'm NOT depressed. Just turning off my brain a bit. There's - too much going on right now."
Penny is Tess's roommate/best friend. She is also 28 years old. Penny is the opposite of Tess. She is outgoing, touchy-feely, edgy, artsy, and adventurous. She hides her engagement to Owen from Tess because she doesn't want to hurt her.
Penny currently only appears in the first chapter but is expected to return later.
Her voice is bright but not bubbly. Medium/medium-high pitch.
[Overly-dramatic/acting] "You found me out! Owen has just been a ruse to make you jealous all these years. It's you I really want!" [breaks the act] "Ha no. You wish."
[Uneasy from getting outed by Owen] "I was planning on telling you tonight...not quite so soon! - But it's fine. Um...so yeah...to put it simply...we're engaged!"
[Reassuring] "Eventually... yeah, but not far! Just to our own place. With Owen's promotion, it would be stupid to skip town."
Owen is Penny's 27 year old fiancé, and Tess's unofficial third roommate. He is intelligent, tall, and physically intimidating, which is countered by his goofball personality. Since Tess is jumpy, he'll often sneak up on her for fun, and he only gets away with it because they've grown to be close friends through Penny.
Like Penny, Owen only appears in the first chapter but is expected to return at some point later.
Owen has a Low/Medium-low smooth voice and a dorky laugh. POC voice actor preferred!
[quick, intending to startle Tess] "What was that about?" [mild regret and concern] "Shit! Are you okay? Didn't mean to scare you."
[bent over laughing] "Haha haaa! Woo. Sorry, T. Sometimes it's too easy to pass up." [regaining compusure] "Glad you came though - honest."
[speculating] "Dunno. He's a new hire - new to town. Figured I'd invite him out to meet some people, but yeah...you see how that's going. Honestly, I'm surprised he tagged along."
Elliot is a 26 year old working in city planning. At work, he is a subservient lackey in fear of losing his job. In public, he presents himself as an edgy loner but also has a habit of drinking his feelings, which loosens him up.
Elliot is a recurring character (one of the digidestined) and returns for Chapter 5 and beyond.
His voice is medium-low and typically ranges from controlling to apathetic to weak
[a little drunk - slurring words] "Wha' bullshih 're you drownin'?" [prodding] "Don' gib me that. Takes a fellow depreshed indivijual to know one."
[controlling, kingly] "Enough! - Mushroomon, what's the meaning of this? Your orders were to not allow any outsiders into the castle!"
[realizing his faults, confessional] "-it got to the point where I needed help to manage it all - but I couldn't accept it. 'Cause if I did, then I would have failed. It would have been proof that I couldn't handle it-"
