Taichi "Tai" Kamiya (八神 太一, Yagami Taichi, Taichi Yagami in the Japanese version)[7][8][9]Voiced by: Toshiko Fujita (Adventure, 02),[10] Natsuki Hanae (tri., DA:LEK),[11] (Japanese); Joshua Seth,[12] Wendee Lee ("Nanomon of the Labyrinth!"), Jason Spisak (Revenge of Diaboromon)[13] (English)Tai is the leader of the DigiDestined, the star player on the school's soccer team and Kari's older brother.[8] His aggressive and impulsive personality often puts him in danger, but he learns that empathy and compassion are the keys to being a successful leader.[7][8] He is partnered with Agumon and holds the Crest of Courage (勇気の紋章, Yūki no monshō).[14][15]Tai passing on leadership to Davis during the events of Digimon Adventure 02 while attending middle school.[9] During the events of Digimon Adventure tri., Tai bonds with Daigo Nishijima and is inspired by the man to seek out a career in diplomacy. The Digimon Adventure 02 series epilogue depicts Tai and Agumon become diplomats for their respective world, at some unknown point Tai marries Mimi and they have two sons, an older boy who is partnered with a Tanemon and a younger boy who is partnered to a Koromon.

Yamato "Matt" Ishida (石田 ヤマト, Ishida Yamato, Yamato Ishida in the Japanese version)[16][17]Voiced by: Yūto Kazama (Adventure, 02),[10] Yoshimasa Hosoya (tri., DA:LEK),[11] (Japanese); Michael Reisz (Adventure, 02), Vic Mignogna (tri.), Nicolas Roye (DA:LEK) (English)Matt is T.K.'s older brother.[c][16] He lives in Odaiba with his father after his parents divorced three years prior.[16][19] He takes caution in the Digital World, especially when it comes to T.K.'s safety,[20] and often clashes with Tai, due to the latter's recklessness.[16] He is partnered with Gabumon and holds the Crest of Friendship (友情の紋章, Yūjō no monshō).[21][22]In Digimon Adventure 02, Matt forms a band with his classmates called the Teen-age Wolves and provides lead vocals and bass.[17] In Digimon Adventure tri., he becomes the vocalist and bassist of Knife of Day after the Teen-age Wolves disbands. In the series' epilogue, Matt and Gabumon become astronauts. Matt marries Sora[23] and they have two children; a daughter with a Yokomon and a son with a Tsunomon.

Sora Takenouchi (武之内 空, Takenouchi Sora)[24][25][26][27]Voiced by: Yūko Mizutani (Adventure, 02),[10] Suzuko Mimori (tri., DA:LEK),[11] (Japanese); Colleen Ann Villard, Wendee Lee ("Invasion of the Daemon Corps") (English)Sora is Tai's best friend and was on the soccer team with him.[25] Despite being tomboyish, Sora takes caution in the Digital World and serves as the mother figure of the DigiDestined,[25] often acting as a mediator between Tai and Matt.[27] She is partnered with Biyomon and holds the Crest of Love(愛情の紋章, Aijō no monshō).[28][29]In Digimon Adventure 02, Sora takes up tennis and flower arranging, learning both from her mother. In the series' epilogue, Sora and Biyomon become fashion designers. Sora has married Matt[23] and they have two children; a daughter with a Yokomon and a son with a Tsunomon.

Koshiro "Izzy" Izumi (泉 光子郎, Izumi Kōshirō, Koshiro Izumi in the Japanese version)[30]Voiced by: Umi Tenjin (Adventure, 02),[10] Takahiro Sakurai (02 adult), Mutsumi Tamura (tri., DA:LEK),[11] (Japanese); Mona Marshall, Neil Kaplan (02adult) (English)Izzy is a computer expert and enjoys researching the Internet.[30] His intellectual curiosity is strong, but sometimes, he becomes too absorbed to focus on his surroundings.[30] He politely defers to the rest of the DigiDestined.[30] He is partnered with Tentomon and holds the Crest of Knowledge (知識の紋章, Chishiki no monshō).[31][32] When he initially found out that he was adopted, he began to subconsciously distance himself from his parents, focusing more on his computer instead. However, they later come to accept each other as family.[33][34]In Digimon Adventure 02, Izzy continues to aid the new generation of DigiDestined by using his computer expertise to monitor the Digital World and alert them about any problems. In Digimon Adventure tri., Izzy works at a new company in the IT business with the base office of operations, creating a program for their partners to travel back and forth between every monitor and the outside world. In the series' epilogue, Izzy researches gateways to the Real and Digital Worlds with Sora's father and Joe's brother, Shu. He has a daughter with a Motimon.

Mimi Tachikawa (太刀川 ミミ, Tachikawa Mimi)[35][36]Voiced by: Ai Maeda (Adventure, 02),[10] Hitomi Yoshida (tri., DA:LEK),[11] (Japanese); Philece Sampler, Wendee Lee ("Princess Karaoke" singing), Kate Higgins (DA:LEK) (English)Mimi is a beautiful girl in Izzy's class who has lived a sheltered life under wealthy parents.[d][36] She tends to push responsibility onto others when things are difficult for her, but people can't help but be charmed by her straightforward personality.[36] She is partnered with Palmon and holds the Crest of Sincerity (純真の紋章, Junshin no monshō).[38][39]In Digimon Adventure 02, Mimi moves to New York City, but she manages to make her way to the Digital World on occasion.[40][41] In Digimon Adventure tri., Mimi moves back to Japan and enrolls in Tai's high school.In the series' epilogue, Mimi and Palmon have become celebrity chefs and have a cooking show. At some unknown point Mimi marries Tai and they have two sons, an older boy with a Tanemon and a younger boy with a Koromon.In a series of online polls conducted on the Digimon website, Mimi was ranked 6th by Japanese voters as Favorite DigiDestined.[42] When the same question was asked three more times, her rank rose to 3rd,[43] fell to 9th,[44] and failed to chart on the final poll.[45] Mimi is ranked first as the DigiDestined whom voters related to the most.[46]

Joe Kido (城戸 丈, Kido Jō)[47]Voiced by: Masami Kikuchi (Adventure, 02),[10] Junya Ikeda (tri., DA:LEK),[11] (Japanese); Michael Lindsay (Adventure, 02), Robbie Daymond (tri., DA:LEK) (English)Joe is an honor student and comes from a family of high-ranked professionals.[47] He spends time studying to enter a high-ranked university[47] and become a physician. Because he is the oldest, he feels responsible for their safety, but his indecisiveness means the group looks to others when making choices.[47] He is partnered with Gomamon and holds the Crest of Reliability (誠実の紋章, Seijitsu no monshō).[48][49]In Digimon Adventure 02, Joe is still studying to be a doctor and passes his responsibilities to Cody Hida.[9] In the series' epilogue, Joe has become the Digital World's first doctor. He has a son, who has a Bukamon.In Digimon Adventure tri., Joe is reluctant to rejoin the DigiDestined, prioritizing his studies over fighting, but eventually finds the resolve to continue fighting.

Takeru "T.K." Takaishi (高石 タケル, Takaishi Takeru, Takeru Takaishi in the Japanese version)[50][20]Voiced by: Hiroko Konishi (Adventure),[10] Megumi Han (Adventure PSP), Taisuke Yamamoto (02), Hiroaki Hirata (02 adult), Junya Enoki (tri., DA:LEK)[11] (Japanese); Wendee Lee (Adventure), Doug Erholtz (02), Tom Wyner (02, adult) Johnny Yong Bosch (tri., DA:LEK) (English)[51][52]T.K. is Matt's younger brother.[c] Unlike the others, he lives in Setagaya with his mother due to their parents' divorce,[20] and despite this, T.K. avoids talking about it.[19] T.K. idolizes Matt and wants to impress him,[50] but he opens up to the other DigiDestined and follows their lead without complaints, particularly Tai.[20] He is partnered with Patamon, holds the Crest of Hope (希望の紋章, Kibō no monshō).In Digimon Adventure 02, T.K. and his mother move to Odaiba, where Cody and Yolei are his neighbors. He has grown taller and is the ace of the basketball club. He is gentle and friendly, so he is popular with girls, but he seems not to have much interest.[53] Joining the new DigiDestined, T.K. obtains the Digi-Egg of Hope (希望のデジメンタル, Kibō no dejimentaru). In the series' epilogue, T.K. has become a novelist, having written books about his and the other DigiDestined's adventures in the Digital World. He has a son with a Tokomon. In a series of online polls conducted on the Digimon website, T.K. was ranked 7th by Japanese voters as Favorite DigiDestined.[42] When the same question was asked two more times, his rank rose to 2nd,[43] but fell to 3rd.[44][45] T.K. is also ranked 1st as whom the voters would want as a younger brother[54] and as the DigiDestined whom the voters thought was the strongest.[55] He placed 2nd as the DigiDestined voters would want to switch places with[56] and as the best-looking DigiDestined in the winter.[57] When voters were asked which DigiDestined they would want as their boyfriend, T.K. placed in 3rd.[58]

He is laid-back and simple-minded. Agumon always believes Tai has the best interests for the team and trusts him as a friend. His main attacks are flame-based.

• Botamon (ボタモン) is Agumon's Baby form, a botamochi-like Digimon covered in black fur.
• Koromon (コロモン) is Agumon's In-training form, a pink spherical Digimon with rabbit-like ears.
• Greymon (グレイモン, Gureimon) is Agumon's Champion form, a giant Dinosaur Digimon with a rhinoceros beetle-like helmet on his head.
• MetalGreymon (メタルグレイモン, Metarugureimon) is Agumon's Ultimate form, a cyborg Dinosaur Digimon with wings and missile hatches on his chest, and has a metal claw on his right arm.
  • MetalGreymon Alterous Mode is the upgraded version of MetalGreymon that only appears in the 2020 Adventure series. He is armed with an extra cannon on his left arm.
  • MetalGreymon (Virus) (メタルグレイモン (ウィルス種）, Metarugureimon (Wirusu Shu)) is a corrupted version of MetalGreymon, who first and only appeared in Digimon Adventure 02 when the Digimon Emperor tests his new Dark Spiral on Greymon.
• SkullGreymon (スカルグレイモン, Sukarugureimon) is Agumon's alternate Ultimate form, a Virus-type skeleton Dinosaur Digimon. SkullGreymon first appeared in Digimon Adventure, when Tai forces Greymon to Dark Digivolve in order to fight another Greymon by putting himself in harm's way. He appeared again in Digimon Adventure 02, when the Digimon Emperor took control of Greymon with one of his Dark Rings and forced him to take this form.
• WarGreymon (ウォーグレイモン, Wōgureimon) is Agumon's Mega form, a Dragon-Man Digimon with the powerful Dramon Killers equipped on his both arms.
• BlitzGreymon is Agumon's alternate Mega form, a bipedal mechanical red version of WarGreymon armed with plasma cannons. Only appears in the 2020 Adventure series where he fought and defeated MetallifeKuwagamon.
• Agumon (Bond of Bravery) (アグモン -勇気の絆-, Agumon -Yuki no Kizuna-) is Agumon's final form, a Digivolution forged by the bond between Agumon and Tai. This form only appears in Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna during the final battle with Eosmon.[6

Gabumon (ガブモン)[70]Voiced by: Mayumi Yamaguchi[10] (Japanese); Kirk Thornton, Jeff Nimoy ("Revenge of Diaboromon") (English)Gabumon is a reptile-like Digimon wearing a wolf pelt and Matt's partner. He is shy and very loyal to Matt. While Gabumon reasons with him whenever he falls too far, he still supports and trusts Matt with any decision he makes. His Digivolutions have ice-based attacks.

• Punimon (プニモン) is Gabumon's Baby form, a squishy round Digimon with three horns on his head.
• Tsunomon (ツノモン) is Gabumon's In-training form, a spherical Digimon with orange fur and a horn above his face.
• Garurumon (ガルルモン) is Gabumon's Champion form, a giant wolf Digimon with an incredible agility.
• WereGarurumon (ワーガルルモン, Wāgarurumon) is Gabumon's Ultimate form, a bipedal werewolf Digimon with very sharp claws.
  • WereGarurumon Sagittarius Mode is the upgraded version form of WereGarurumon that only appears in the 2020 Adventure series. He is armed with four pairs of mechanical blades.
• MetalGarurumon (メタルガルルモン, Metarugarurumon) is Gabumon's Mega form, an cyborg wolf Digimon with built-in weaponry and flight capability via his blade-shaped wings.
• CresGarurumon is Gabumon's alternate Mega form, a humanoid golden werewolf who wields a blade. This form only appears in the 2020 Adventure series, where he fought Zanbamon and defeated him.
• Gabumon (Bond of Friendship) (ガブモン -友情の絆-, Gabumon -Yujo no Kizuna-) is Gabumon's final form, a Digivolution forged by the bond between Gabumon and Matt. This form only appears in Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna during the final fight with Eosmon.[71]

Biyomon (ピヨモン, Piyomon, Piyomon in the Japanese version)[72][73]Voiced by: Atori Shigematsu[10] (Japanese); Tifanie Christun, Cherami Leigh (tri., DA:LEK), Melodee Spevack (Birdramon, Garudamon) (English)Biyomon is a little bird-like Digimon who is Sora's partner. She is expressive about her feelings and is affectionate towards Sora. She helps Sora open up to her mother and mends their relationship. Biyomon and her Digivolution's attacks are flame-based.

• Nyokimon (ニョキモン) is Biyomon's Baby form, a black seed-like Digimon with a sprout on her head.
• Yokomon (ピョコモン, Pyocomon) is Biyomon's In-training form, who looks like an onion bulb with root-like tentacles and a flower growing on her head.
• Birdramon (バードラモン, Bādoramon) is Biyomon's Champion form, a giant bird Digimon who is enveloped with blazing flames.
• Garudamon (ガルダモン) is Biyomon's Ultimate form, a Garuda-based Digimon with gigantic talons and wings.
• Phoenixmon (ホウオウモン, Hououmon, Hououmon in the Japanese version) is Biyomon's Mega form, a holy four-winged Phoenix Di

Tentomon (テントモン)Voiced by: Takahiro Sakurai[10] (Japanese); Jeff Nimoy, R. Martin Klein (in "Invasion of the Daemon Corps", "BlackWarGreymon's Destiny" and "A Million Points of Light"), Joshua Seth ("And so it begins", Motimon and Pabumon) (English)Tentomon is a ladybug-like Digimon and Izzy's partner. He speaks in a Kansai dialect. He has the ability to digivolve into insect-type forms with electric-based attacks. He is highly intelligent, curious, and polite. Although he admires and is fascinated by Izzy's curiosity, he cannot understand it and is baffled by Izzy preferring his laptop over socializing with his friends. Tentomon occasionally becomes annoyed when Izzy becomes sidetracked by his curiosity.

• Pabumon (バブモン, Bubbmon, Bubbmon in the Japanese version) is Tentomon's Baby form, a blob-like Digimon who always holds a pacifier in his mouth.
• Motimon (モチモン) is Tentomon's In-training form, a cylinder-shaped blob Digimon.
• Kabuterimon (カブテリモン) is Tentomon's Champion form, a giant four-armed Asiatic rhinoceros beetle Digimon.
• MegaKabuterimon (アトラーカブテリモン, Atorākabuterimon, AtlurKabuterimon in the Japanese version) is Tentomon's Ultimate form, a giant four-armed Japanese rhinoceros beetle Digimon.

Palmon (パルモン)Voiced by: Kinoko Yamada[10] (Japanese); Anna Garduno, Mari Devon (Togemon), Dorothy Elias-Fahn (Lillymon, Rosemon) (English)Palmon is a plant-like Digimon with reptilian features who often sees the good in Mimi and often tries to make her partner appreciate what she has. When Mimi first leaves the Digital World, Palmon is unable to say goodbye to her. In the series' epilogue, she and Mimi become celebrity chefs and have their own cooking show.

• Yuramon (ユラモン) is Palmon's Baby form, a seed Digimon covered in long hair.
• Tanemon (タネモン) is Palmon's In-training form, a bulb Digimon with two leaves sprouting from her head.
• Togemon (トゲモン) is Palmon's Champion form, a humanoid cactus Digimon who wears boxing gloves. Togemon can fire the needles of her body at a great speed.
• Ponchomon is Palmon's Armor form exclusively in the 2020 Adventure series, a ghostly cactus show wears a sombrero and carries maracas. She becomes this form to defeat Etemon and Volcamon in a musical match.
• Lillymon (リリモン, Lilimon) is Palmon's Ultimate form, a flower fairy Digimon with four leaf-like wings. She can combine the flowers in her hands to form a big cannon.

Gomamon (ゴマモン)Voiced by: Junko Takeuchi[10] (Japanese); R. Martin Klein, Michael Sorich (Zudomon, Vikemon) (English)Gomamon is a seal-like Digimon and Joe's partner. He has the ability to digivolve into seal-type forms with water-based attacks. Gomamon has a laid-back and easygoing personality, where he often attempts to convince Joe to overcome his fears and socialize instead of studying.

• Pichimon (ピチモン, Pitchmon) is Gomamon's Baby form, a microbe-like Digimon with a very small size.
• Bukamon (プカモン, Pukamon) is Gomamon's In-training form, a baby aquatic Dinosaur Digimon.
• Ikkakumon (イッカクモン) is Gomamon's Champion form, a walrus-like Digimon that can use his horn as a missile.
• Zudomon (ズドモン) is Gomamon's Ultimate form, a bipedal walrus-like Digimon with a turtle shell. He uses spark-based attacks with his Thor Hammer.
• Vikemon (ヴァイクモン, Vaikumon) is Gomamon's Mega form, a Beast Man Digimon with the appearance of a Viking walrus. He uses ice-based attacks with the morning star Mjölnir that carries on his back.

Elecmon is a Mammal Digimon. It retained Tsunomon's mammal-like elements and digivolved. It's very curious and lively, and inherited its prank-loving personality from Tsunomon. Also, Elecmon possesses nine tails, and during battle, it fans out its tails like the plumage of a peacock to intimidate its opponent.[6]

Devimon had infected Leomon with Touch of Evil attack, having Leomon attack the DigiDestined against his will. He was briefly freed from Devimon's control by Tai's Digivice to save Tai and Agumon by fighting Devimon. However, he was infected with another Touch of Evil attack and was under Devimon's control once more. Evil Shows His Face He later appeared to attack Mimi and Izzy when they were in Centarumon's temple, but they drove him off with their Digivices. When ordered to kill TK and Patamon, he was infused with an additional eight black gears which increased his size and power and darkened his colour tone, subsequently being able to incapacitate the obstructive Garurumon and Greymon with his Fist of the Beast King attack. He was freed by Matt and Tai with their Digivices. When he was freed by the children, he aided them in the final battle with Devimon, but was defeated. When Ogremon decided to get revenge for Devimon's death, Leomon scared him away. The Legend of the DigiDestined He also aided in the building of a raft that the kids needed to get to the Server continent. Departure for a New Continent

While the DigiDestined tried to save their world from Myotismon, the Dark Masters took over the Digital World. Leomon was among those who tried to fight back. After being exposed to the power of the DigiDestined's Digivices a few times when he was under the control of Devimon, he had inherited the ability to warp digivolve to his Mega form of SaberLeomon (skipping the ultimate stage). He rescued Mimi, Palmon, Joe, Gomamon and Ogremon from being found by MetalEtemon and took them to where Digitamamon's diner was. When MetalEtemon attacked, Leomon digivolved to SaberLeomon to fight him. He threw himself in front of an attack heading toward Mimi, being mortally injured in the process. Gomamon digivolved immediately to Zudomon and attacked with his hammer sparks but could not hurt MetalEtemon since his body was coated with Chrome Digizoid. However, when Zudomon then threw his hammer at him, it cracked his body because the hammer was also made of Chrome Digizoid. With his remaining strength, SaberLeomon punched his claw into the cracked wound, destroying MetalEtemon, but causing himself to revert to Leomon. As he died, Leomon made his peace with his arch-nemesis, Ogremon, and now waits to be reborn at Primary Village. Ogremon's Honor

Devimon is cruel and cunning, focused only on the spread of darkness. He waits for the perfect moment to strike, otherwise using proxies or manipulation to achieve his own ends. He has no qualms about using illusions to weaken his foes and striking during the night. Devimon also shows remarkable self-knowledge in that he acknowledges that he himself is a small fry in the grand scheme of things.

Devimon controls the Black Gears, which perform multiple tasks for him. He generally uses free ones that, when summoned, will fly towards and eventually collide with a Digimon, bending it to his will. Biyomon Gets FirepowerThey can also be used to increase the target's size and strength, especially if the target is struck by multiple gears. The Legend of the DigiDestined There are also some that will serve as scrying mirrors to keep watch on the children. DigiBaby Boom Another set of Black Gears are built into giant arrays as the core of File Island itself. When operated, they can cause the pieces of File Island to separate from or rejoin Infinity Mountain. Evil Shows His FaceAlthough Devimon has a strong control over the Black Gears, at one point it is stated that Devimon did not create the Black Gears but mainly found them on File Island.[citation needed]

Attacks:

• The Touch of Evil (Death Claw): Stabs his claws into his targets and infuses them with dark energy to put them under his thrall.
• Death Hand: Unleashes a blast of unholy energy from his hands.

Before the DigiDestined ever arrive in the Digital World, Devimon is created by Apocalymon, along with his successors, Etemon and Myotismon, and takes control of File Island. At some point, he acquires the DigiDestineds' Tags and Crests which had been stolen from the Agents by Piedmon, The Ultimate Clash and hides them throughout the Server Continent to avert a prophecy that the smallest DigiDestined will destroy him.
