Project Overview

INTRODUCTION

Have you always wanted to be the voice of a crime-fighting lobster? Now is your chance! This casting call is for the trailer of a future animated film noir series called “Detective Lobster.” This show follows the story of an Atlantic red lobster returning from early retirement to solve one more mystery. This has been a long-awaited project and is now starting production as a junior thesis film. We are very excited to develop this concept further, and we need your help to bring this trailer to life!


OVERVIEW

Since we are developing a trailer, we’re casting for a few selected characters. The roles are unpaid, but we offer drawn commissions from the project director. All roles will be credited on the film.


Character include:

Detective Lobster - An Atlantic red lobster who once was in early retirement, returns to solve more mysteries.

Finnlan Bates - A younger Atlantic red lobster who is a medic with a dream to become a doctor.

Captain Patrick Lemmings - A catfish and bossman of the Capien City Police force. An old friend of Detective Lobster

Lieutenant Richard Ross - A hot-headed sunfish, trusted right-hand man of Captain Lemmings and rival of Detective Lobster.

Reporter Sheryl Dean - a newspaper reporter with a knack for fishing out the latest stories.

Napoleon - a slick blue crab crime boss in charge of an underground smuggling ring and Detective Lobster’s arch nemesis. 

Extras include crowd voices and criminal goons

DEADLINES AND AUDITIONS

The deadline for auditions is November 10, 2024, by 11:59 p.m. The deadline may be extended until further notice. We will notify voice actors who have been cast in roles by November 12, 2024. If the deadline is extended, actors will be notified at least two days after the extended date. Please have your audition on time so that we can stay on schedule. 

  • Please have clean recordings (no background noise, no fans, etc.) 

  • Not mandatory but you can submit your recordings as a .wav or mp3 file to officialdetectivelobster as a gmail.

  • Lastly, have fun!

  • Detective Lobster Audition Deadline Extended to Nov. 11 11:59 pm EST

    As the title says, the deadline extension has been moved to Monday, November 11, at 11:59 pm EST. So if you haven't already auditioned, there is still time! Spread the word!

    For those who have auditioned, we are currently reviewing all audition tapes. Casted roles will be messaged personally after Nov. 11 at 11:59 pm.

    Although it is not listed, we are still looking for a voice for a henchman. We will be looking through the Napoleon voice lines for a henchman, so feel free to audition!
