Danganronpa: Lights, Cameras, Action!

Danganronpa: Lights, Cameras, Action!

Project Overview

"Danganronpa: Lights, Cameras, Action!" Is a fanmade fanganronpa that will be made into a video series and posted on YouTube (most likely in two to three large segments so it's less chapter-based releasing), and has no affiliation to Spike Chunsoft or any corporate entity.

Please note that this project is very early in development! If you do audition, you might be called back in some years for a callback or to play a certain role, so please keep this in mind!

Also, descriptions will become better for each role as time goes on, so check neck every once in a while!

California, ~2030

About 16 years ago, the world found itself shocked and angry at the terrorist bombing of a Ultimate-only college in California, home to over 50 of the world's newest Ultimates in its graduating year alone. Having students from all over the US and the globe come together and die in the incident, Ultimate Talent Programs across the world kept their valuable Ultimates in their home regions and countries, trying to prevent losing them ever again. Meanwhile, Ultimates with "less valuable" talents found themselves in UTP colleges as essentially bait, just meant to keep focus on them so Ultimate Politicians and Pharmacists could practice in safety. So, when the same college bombed 16 years earlier had its first class of 10 since reopening get kidnapped, the world collectively sighed disappointedly and waited for their corpses to roll in.

The class itself wakes up in a mysterious mansion, and quickly puts together that they're in a killing game, with their doctor Host quickly making their presence known, and informing the class that every moment in the game is being broadcasted to a world that hasn't even tried to pay a Rand sim for their lives.

With disparity and insanity seeping in, how will this class manage to survive this game and a host who seems cruelty indifferent to them? And will they even find a way to escape the game with At least one of their lives..?

(Note: This game will have very political messaging thoughout! It will also contain references to drugs, PTSD, and of course, murder. Please be cautious of your own triggers when applying!)

Audition Preferences

  • If you want, you can do AABBCC, or just ABC.

  • Asterisks are to give you an idea of where I'd like certain words to be emphasized. They are optional, however!

  • If you don't fit the exact profile or description, don't stress! Try to hit about one or two of the major qualities I mentioned, and I can work with that!

  • All experience levels welcome!

Last thing, all cast images are made in picrew as I currently do not have any money to pay artists, so all picrew links and bits of trivia about the cast can be found here: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/14iqQHwv107Ni57yruzVb-VmIyorTtRPFKV8hM2EqKNE/edit?usp=drivesdk

The Host
open
Unpaid

The Host of the killing game. An androgynous person in their late thirties or early fourties, with a Brooklyn-area accent that might occasionally slip through, or be consistent throughout, actor's choice.

The Host should intentionally try to come off as cold and uncaring, or even disinterested, like a cat pretending it doesn't care about the people around it. When like this, the host talks clearly and with little emotion, try to sound formal and professional, though you can decide if you'd rather go full-out formal or just enough to get the time across (once again, your choice.)

When caught off-guard, the Brooklyn accent should be about clearer, and all sense of formality should be lost. Speak like an adult concerned about the actions a child is taking, like you see a toddler with a breakable mug you love in its hands.

Other things you can do with the voice (this is where I encourage any creativity in your audition,) is how tired or fed-up The Host might sound, you can decide if they're eager for a situation or if they're dreading/regretting having to carry out a situation, or even if The Host obfuscates a word or two by speaking them quieter, as to trick the participants of the Killing Game, or every word is said clearly so there are no miscommunications. This killing game is *very* important to The Host, and it *must* go well, or else.

Mari Simons-Evans

Mari Simons-Evans is a 21 year old transfemme (mtf) Californian with a loud voice and a passion for movie-making, as well as the Protagonist of D:LCA. She holds the title of the Ultimate Film Director, and is known mostly for having an uncontrollable temper in years past, which has greatly been restrained from fully coming out as of recently.

I have no particular image in mind for Mari, so please feel free to try whatever. My only suggestions are to sound like you're holding yourself back a bit, but you don't have to. Have fun with it! Just do note you will have to say some romantic and flirty lines, so warning in advance. (If you'd like to be better prepared, check out Mari's wife, Evelyn Thornspiel.)

Evelyn Thornspiel
open
Unpaid

Evelyn Thornspiel is a 21 year old, cisgender-female Californian who swaps between speaking loudly, with authority and power; and speaking sweetly and with a lot more nerdy joy than she can really publicly show. Evelyn holds the title of the Ultimate Dungeon Mistress.

Evelyn speaks in two different ways, though both may say certain words with a German accent, or speak some of them with a slightly German tinge- she was raised by a German-speaking household, so the influence is there. The first way should speak with power and clarity, if you say words like you think everyone who hears them might be dumb, that is perfectly acceptable. Saying them like they're the fifth time you're having to repeat yourself is also acceptable. The second voice speaks louder, but with a lot more restrained joy, like you're trying not to go over the deep end with a hyperfixation. You're amongst people you trust when you speak like this, so you can be calmer. Also be warned, this role will come with some romantic lines in reference to your wife- Mari Simons-Evans- though content of them won't go over anything that would make you uncomfortable. Your boundaries are of upmost importance here.

  • [Neutral] "Alright, let's not lose our heads, now. And on that, a head count. How many of us do we have? One, two... ..ten total. That's a start, that's good."

  • [Taking on the mantle of leadership] "Alright, we can reasonably assume we're about to be put into a killing game. However, given that this place seems to have only cameras, I propose we simply overwhelm our host and make a quick exit. Is everyone on-board?"

  • [Holding in excitement, start trying to persuade then let it out] "Okay, *so—* there's the *short* explanation or the *long* explanation, and you clearly want the *short*, but I would *really,* **really** appreciate it if you'd let me give you the long... ...! Ok, thank you! *SO,* we set the story in a tavern-"

Yuuchi "Jack" Daniels
open
Unpaid

Yuuchi "Jack" Daniels is an afab Bigender (he/her) American with a clear and confident voice, although it may not be the most understandable with his talking speed being a bit faster than it should be. Yuuchi holds the title of the Ultimate Philanthropist , and is excellent at stirring up emotions and encouraging others with her voice, and comes off as both a natural leader and someone who's warm enough to approach in whatever situation you might need.

For instructions on how to preform, note that any American accent, or lack of a specific regional one, would be fine. When reading each line, simply speak it like a regular person would. When happy, Yuuchi may speak in a higher pitch, or speak a bit too fast. When serious, Yuuchi should slow down to a regular talking speed, and put emphasis on each word, sort of like how you might flick the last vowel of a word off your tongue. It should be clear that the fun that Yuuchi is typically known for is no longer there.

Nova Chirp

Nova Chirp is a 21 year old female (intersex, though this can be considered irrelevant for the audition) Texan with a soft and sweet voice, and a personality that matches. She's the Ultimate ASMR Creator.

Nova speaks sweetly and softly, and with joy. She tried to calm whoever she talks to, because she finds that people are at their happiest and most pleasant when calm. As a result, she also refrains from harsh words and criticism, being a rather good peacekeeper. Her accent tends to always be present, but it sounds rather cute (if possible. A bit folksy is acceptable.)

Lizzie Fountain
open

Lizzie Fountsin is a 20 year old female Floridian with a monotone, and semi-deep voice, who speaks before thinking, and switches between each word just sort of coming out of her mouth without thinking of how it might cause others to feel, and adding a lot more force on the voice whenever she is being sarcastic or mean. She is the Ultimate Political Cartoonist.

Lizzie speaks in the same monotone, every word should have not a detached feeling, but almost a bit of disinterest, or even like she doesn't believe anything someone else is saying, and is disinterested in talking as a result. Lizzie has a quick wit and doesn't miss much, so she's the first to comment on something and unafraid to speak her mind, and in those moments, you can put a lot more emphasis or power behind those words as sort of a verbal "this is me being sarcastic at you" cue. You can also sound proud during these moments, or enjoy the idea that this will pierce the person you're talking to, metaphorically.

Also, if you'd like, when being particularly sarcastic or witty, you may try to speak any words or the whole thing in a French accent—the quality or authenticity of the accent is up to your entire discretion. You are, in these moments, trying to imitate a French person who helped teach you to be witty, do the accent is both out of respect and potentially, an unintentional consequence of that accent being what taught you your quick and wit.

Lucky

Lucky is a 21 year old, non-binary American with a muffled voice due to wearing a mask, and frequently holds a braggy tone, or laughs at their own jokes. Lucky is the Ultimate Thief.

Lucky is someone who is best described as cocky. Life's a game, and they've basically already won it, so nothing is ever taken too terribly serious. Lucky laughs at their own jokes, tries to tease and provoke others for their own fun, and speaks loudly, with their chest. In the rare moments they're serious about anything, they speak in a bit of a whisper, and drop their courage and cockiness, trying to calm whatever is happening by talking softly and sweetly. Kindness isn't uncommon for Lucky, but it often comes in the form of teasing or lightly bullying others.

  • [A bit nervous, trying to seem normal] "W-Well, the windows are fake, for one. Also, I'm missing all my equipment. And my body really doesn't feel good today, so maybe we can just chalk up my escaping business for tomorrow?"

Echo Igean is a 20 year old non-binary Japanese immigrant, who speaks in a small volume, and like they're always walking on nails. Echo is the Ultimate Biographer.

Echo should be preformed in a hush and soft tone, like you're trying not to get on anyone's nerves. Further, speak a bit slower and simpler, you can stumble over your words either out of your nerves tripping you up, or because you're trying to present as weaker, and thus, less of a threat. Eliott Sheppard is a 22 year old male Californian with a deep and classy voice, sort of like someone who's trying to sound like they're better than you just by the manner in which he speaks. Eliott is the Ultimate Mentalist.

Eliott tries to present himself as rich and classy, and sees only those in that level of wealth and status as an equal. He speaks slower and condescendingly, or verbosely and dramatically just to show off and flaunt that he's better than you. Are you that plain? ..But regardless, as *plain* as it is, mentalism is like cheese making— so much you'll never see goes into making one brief moment of awe and amazement."

  • [Protective] "Now, let's stop being hasty to accuse, and focus on the evidence at hand. After all, if all we did was point fingers at each other and never proved anything, we'd all be dead, wouldn't we?"

He might also sound like his voice is adjusting from being on T. Henry is the Ultimate Realtor.

Henry, just like Mari, is open game for interpretation. Give me whatever you want, and I'll update this as I find voices or anything else to give more guidance.

Evie Honey

Evie Honey is a beekeeper as sweet as her name implies, while also being well-organized and structured, able to keep her life and hives structured and consistent as a pocket watch. Unsurprisingly, this little lady holds the title of the Ultimate Beekeeper!

Evie's voice should sound a bit rural- not necessarily redneck, and very much not southern, but she was raised in a rural community, so you can play with that however you like. Evie should also sound more full and lively in her voice, like she belongs and is happy to be with people she.. somewhat knows and recognizes. She does tend to use little mouth clicks when correcting or adjusting someone, and can come off as overcontrolling, but she mostly means no harm by it. Make sure to have fun, as always!

  • [Friendly and happy, you're grateful to not be alone.] "Oh! Hello there, I was a bit scared I was all alone here! .. It's nice sometimes to be alone, but not in this kind of situation, if you understand me?"

  • [Unhappy at not being able to contribute much- you like being useful.] "Um, I don't really know I'm meant to help here, my apologies. I could probably keep the scene clear?"

  • [Firm and realistic. You don't need false hope here.] "I don't like to be rude, but I don't think any plan of escape so far has any more of a chance of my neighbor's pigs starting to fly. We *might* just have to accept the situation, here."

Andrey was born in Russia, but had spent his entire conscious memory in America (specifically New Mexico and California,) so an accent is completely up to you, though certain words or phrases (like 'da') can be used at your discretion. Andrey should sound youthful and excited, someone who uses all the air in his lungs to speak. High-energy all the time, no stop button.
