Danganronpa: Hamilton (Voice Acted Musical)
Project Overview
WELCOME TO DANGANRONPA: HAMILTON THE MUSICAL!
Talentless as he is, Hajime Hinata is determined to leave his mark on the world and be remembered for centuries to come. His voyage to America finds him amidst new friends, war, political tension, and the romance of a lifetime. There’s a million things that can happen, but Hajime is not throwing away his shot.
HELLO THERE!
I’m Ace, Danganronpa fan VA and cover artist. This may come as a shock to you (they say sarcastically, millions of posters on their wall), but I am a HUGE MUSICAL THEATRE NERD. So it makes sense that I’d want to do a Danganronpa version of one of the most critically acclaimed musicals in the 21st century, right?

ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION
Please have a Discord account. I would like to be able to keep the group organized and have a quick way of contacting you should I need you to turn in a recording.
In accordance with Discord rules, you must be at least 13 years old to audition as a character. This musical contains mature themes that are not appropriate for young children.
I’d like those of you who are auditioning for larger roles to please be able to carry a tune. Some of these songs are vocally challenging and I want to make sure you’re up to the task.
Character auditioners should have a decent-quality microphone. I’m hoping I won’t have to hear any iPhone speaker microphones so that we can maintain good quality.
For those applying as a video editor, please have at least one video of prior experience. I want to make sure we’re getting the best quality possible out of this project. >w<
AUDITION EXPECTATIONS
For general auditions:
Provide your preferred nickname and pronouns. (Example: Ace, they/them)
Provide your full Discord username and tag. (Example: acemusic#4708)
For character auditions:
If you have any, please list any past music/vocal training you may have received.
If possible, state your vocal range and type. If you don’t know your range and would like to find it, click here. (Example: Soprano, A3 - E6)
PRECAST ROLES
As this project has been in development for some time, a few character roles have been precast. Please adjust your auditions accordingly:
Aaron Burr - Nagito Komaeda: BlakeVA
Eliza Schuyler-Hamilton - Chiaki Nanami: AceMusic
Angelica Schuyler - Kaede Akamatsu: Cast offline
John Laurens - Rantaro Amami: ChadBlaster
ANYTHING ELSE?
More than anything else, I’m looking for people who are good team players and are fun to hang out with. I’d much rather have a nice person who is hardworking than a naturally-talented person who’s stuck up. Have fun! Go nuts!

Hi everyone! Thank you to everyone who has auditioned so far! The directing team and I will be meeting June 5th at 5pm CST to go over all auditions. WE WILL NOT BE REVIEWING AUDITIONS SUBMITTED PAST THIS DATE AND TIME. Please submit your auditions before then!
The star of the show, Hajime Hinata is a reckless, charismatic young man who came from humble beginnings to make a new start for himself in America. Outspoken and passionate, he will not hesitate to speak his mind when given the chance. His skill in writing and rhetoric marks him as intelligent to many, though arrogant to some. Be prepared for a lot of rapping.
The sung line is optional, as Hajime will not be singing very much in this musical, but it's in your best interest to at least give it a shot.
(passionate) God help and forgive me, I wanna build something that's gonna outlive me.
(sincere, but still flirting) If it takes fighting a war for us to meet, it will have been worth it.
("Dear Theodosia")
You will come of age with our young nation.
We'll bleed and fight for you, we'll make it right for you.
If we lay a strong enough foundation,
We'll pass it on to you. We'll give the world to you
And you'll blow us all away.
Someday, someday.
Yeah, you'll blow us all away.
Someday, someday...
Celestia Ludenberg portrays Marquis de Lafayette in this project. Still as intelligent and cunning as ever, Celeste is a bit more passionate in her status in France.
While fluency in French is not required, those auditioning for this role MUST be able to at least read and pronounce French correctly.
(cocky, extra) I came from afar just to say “Bonsoir.” Tell the King “Casse toi!” Who's the best? C'est moi.
(prideful) Immigrants, we get the job done.
("The Story Of Tonight")
Raise a glass to freedom
Something they can never take away
No matter what they tell you
Raise a glass to the four of us
Tomorrow there'll be more of us
Telling the story of tonight
Nekomaru Nidai's gruff and loud personality takes Hercules Mulligan's role in this project. A team player and often vulgar person, Nekomaru's ready to bust through the British soldiers and knock the shit out of them.
(exasperated) Oh my God, tear this dude apart!
(loud, prideful) See, that's what happens when you up against the ruffians! We in the shit now, somebody's gotta shovel it!
("The Story Of Tonight")
Raise a glass to freedom
Something they can never take away
No matter what they tell you
Raise a glass to the four of us
Tomorrow there'll be more of us
Telling the story of tonight
The youngest of the Schuyler sisters, Hiyoko Saionji takes on the little-sister complex of Peggy Schuyler in this project.
This character pretty much only sings in this musical, so whoever is cast most likely will not have any spoken / rapped lines.
(strong, prideful) We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.
("The Schuyler Sisters")
Look around, look around
At how lucky we are to be alive right now!
History is happenin' in Manhattan
And we just happen to be
In the greatest city in the world!
In the greatest city in the world!
King George III's quirky personality will be taking form in Byakuya Togami. Those auditioning for this role can absolutely speak-sing some of these lyrics in order to fully portray Byakuya's deadpan personality.
("You'll Be Back")
You'll be back
Soon you'll see
You'll remember you belong to me
You'll be back
Time will tell
You'll remember that I served you well
Oceans rise, empires fall
We have seen each other through it all
And when push comes to shove
I will send a fully armed batallion
To remind you of my love
Sonia Nevermind is General and President George Washington in this project. Most of Sonia's ditzy, unknowing personality is outweighed by her strong leadership skills and passionate personality. Be ready for assorted riffs and some higher belting.
(hopeful, strong) We rendezvous with Rochambeau, consolidate their gifts!
(mentorly, strong) It's alright, you want to fight. You've got a hunger. I was just like you when I was younger. Head full of fantasies of dying like a martyr? Dying is easy, young man. Living is harder.
("One Last Time")
One last time
The people will hear from me
One last time
And if we get this right
We're gonna teach 'em how to say goodbye
You and I
Kokichi Ouma takes on Thomas Jefferson's larger-than-life personality in this project. Fast-talking and incredibly extra, Kokichi's ready to absolutely MESS with Hajime during their time in politics. Be ready for complicated rapping and some higher notes in singing.
(snide, mocking) Such a blunder. Sometimes, it makes me wonder why I even bring the thunder.
(annoyed, slightly condescending) And they say I'm a Francophile, at least they know I know where France is.
SELECT ONE:
("What'd I Miss")
France is following us to revolution
There is no more status quo
But the sun comes up and the world still spins
I helped Lafayette draft a declaration
Then I said, "I gotta go"
I gotta be in Monticello
Now the work at home begins...
So what'd I miss?("Washington On Your Side")
I'm in the cabinet, I am complicit
In watching him grabbing at power and kiss it
If Nevermind isn't gon' to listen to disciplined dissonance,
This is the difference: This kid is out!
Levelheaded, a brilliant writer, yet often sickly, James Madison is portrayed by Shuichi Saihara. Those auditioning should be prepared to sing higher notes in the tenor range and do some quick trisyllabic rhymes. (Kudos to anyone who gets that reference-)
(concerned) If we don't stop it, we aid and abet it.
(contemplating) That's the problem. They see Komaeda as a less extreme you.
("What'd I Miss")
Kokichi, we are engaged in a battle
For our nation's very soul.
Can you get us out of the mess we're in?
Hajime's new financial plan is
Nothing less than government control!
I've been fighting for the South alone.
Where have you been?
We have to win.
Young and excitable, the eldest Hamilton son will be played by Makoto Naegi! For this role, I am looking for someone who can portray childish excitement, weakness, and some strong protag harem vibes. Best of luck!
(confident, showing off his poem) I practice French and play piano with my mother! I have a sister but I want a little brother!
(uncertain) But what if he decides to shoot? Then I'm a goner.
("Stay Alive Reprise")
I did exactly as you said, Pa.
I held my head up high... High...
Even before we got to ten,
I was aiming for the sky.
I was aiming for the sky-!OR
Mom, I'm so sorry
For forgetting what you taught me.
We played piano...
You would put your hands on mine.
Is it a surprise to anyone that the most sexual character in the musical will be played by Miu Iruma? Didn't think so. For this role, as Maria is only in one song, I'm giving those interested in the role the option of choosing one of the two cuts of "Say No To This." Those of you who are more comfortable with belting may want to record the second option.
If you're uncomfortable with the implications of this character, don't audition for this role.
OPTION #1: ("Say No To This")
I know you are a man of honor
I'm so sorry to bother you at home,
But I don't know where to go
And I came here all alone...
My husband's doing me wrong,
Beatin' me, cheatin' me, mistreatin' me
Suddenly, he's up and gone
I don't have the means to go on.OPTION #2: ("Say No To This")
Please don't leave me with him, helpless!
Just give him what he wants and you can have me!
Whatever you want
If you pay
You can stay...!
Charles Lee's cowardice is portrayed by Kazuichi Souda. Now, I know, insulting Miss Sonia is very out of character for Kazuichi, but that's the way it'll be for now. Kazuichi's main lines are syncopated speaking (not necessarily rapping), so there will be no sung lines attached here.
(scornful) The best thing she can do for the revolution is turn back and go back to planting tobacco at Mt. Vernon!
(scared) But there's so many of them!
Samuel Seabury, a stuck-up stickler for order, is played by Kiyotaka Ishimaru. This is the only song Taka will be in; as it's a minor role, you may want to consider this as a back-up role in your audition priorities.
(loud, outspoken) Hear ye, hear ye! I am Kiyotaka Ishimaru, and I present "Free Thoughts on The Proceedings of The Continental Congress."
("Farmer Refuted")
This Congress does not speak for me,
They're playing a dangerous game.
I pray the King shows you his mercy.
For shame, for shame!
James Reynolds will be portrayed by Junko Enoshima, for both of their cunning and manipulative natures. This is a very minor role, as Junko only appears for a couple of lines in Act 2.
("Say No To This")
Uh-oh! You made the wrong sucker a cuckold,
So time to pay the piper for the pants you unbuckled.
And, hey, you can keep seein’ my wh*re wife,
If the price is right; if not, I’m telling your wife.
For his aggressive and gruff personality, George Eacker is played by Fuyuhiko Kuzuryuu. Fuyuhiko will not be singing in this musical, so if this is a role you want but still want to have a singing part, you may want to audition in the ensemble as well.
(mocking, scornful) I didn't say anything that wasn't true. Your father's a scoundrel, and so, it seems, are you.
(dismissive) I'd rather skip the pleasantries, let's go. Grab your pistol.
The ensemble is going to consist of every Danganronpa character that doesn't have a main role. These can be anyone! You can audition with as many voices as you want, just please tell me who you're going to voice in the beginning of your recording. Please sing the given cut of "The Room Where It Happens" and read one of the lines provided.
REQUIRED ("The Room Where It Happens")
No one else was in
The room where it happened
The room where it happened
The room where it happened
No one else was in
The room where it happened
The room where it happened
The room where it happened
No one really knows how the game is played
The art of the trade, how the sausage gets made
We just assumed that it happens
But no one else is in the room where it happens.OPTIONAL #1
(reluctant, remorseful) Yes. But you have to understand, the bullet entered just above his hip and lodged in the right arm. I'm doing everything I can, but the wound was already infected when he arrived.
OPTIONAL #2
(flirting, sassy) I saw him just up Broadway a couple of blocks. He was going to see a play.
Since the DR Hamilton videos are basically going to be sprite videos, please send any past sprite vids of Danganronpa you may have made before. If you haven't, just send some of your best work.
