Yuuma Chiura is the protagonist of the story. He's an ex-assistant commissioner who was moved to Sapporo after a devastating case involving his late fiance, Kaya, and mysterious files on classified information. During work, Yuuma comes off as a cold, demanding, and uptight but he's honestly a good, caring guy who means well whenever it's just one on one. Most of the time, his co-workers see through this harsh personality and get to know him better. Sometimes, the detective happens to get nervous during cases even though he has past experience with these types of things. He can get angry at times, having to take it out on papers, pencils, or whatever small, non-living objects that he can find. Yuuma grew up in a small, poor family with low income. His inspiration was his dream to become a Featherman Ranger when he was a kid, finding the heroes in the show cool and inspiring. Through his hard work and dedication, he was able to become a high-ranked officer. Now, his story still continues...

If you're not going to be dedicated to do this project, then please do not audition since it would cause a lot of trouble for me to have to find a replacement last minute. This role may include a bit of cussing/swearing, but nothing major. Please be aware of this before auditioning, incase if you get casted. - Yuuma has a medium-pitched but yet deeper, grittier voice that only adds to the colder side of him, making it a bit intimidating and scary at first. His voice is mainly clear, because he is used to having to give speeches. Once in a while, he'll mess up on his words but it takes a lot for him to have it accidentally slip. Whether or not it's nasally is up to you since most parts of his voice are up to interpretation. I'd prefer to have a male voice actor since that's what fits his voice type and would be easiest for the VA.

"Good morning, everyone... I'm Yuuma Chiura. From today on, I'll be serving as one of the detectives of Susukino Central Station here in Sapporo. I came here after being transferred from Tokyo, so I might be a bit confused about some things. I hope that we'll all get along well, though... Thank you very much for having me." {more polite with a bit of sternness. hints of nervousness here and there.}
"I was a bit surprised when walking down the street... I thought that it would be your regular red-light district with strip- I probably shouldn't be talking about this kind of stuff while on the job, right? Sorry... Back in Tokyo, we talked regularly about this stuff. I should also be careful since- you know... Kids and families are nearby." {a bit embarrassed, joking at first. it moves into more of an awkward and sad voice. you can tell that he misses his days back in Tokyo.}
"Coming in, Inspector Mori... I'd like to report a robbery. Yes, the victim seems to be a young girl around the age of... hmmm... ten years-old. She seems to have been robbed of- Hey! Why are you laughing...?- No, not you, Inspector. Oh, um, nevermind, Inspecator Mori. The girl kind of... disappeared?" {a bit confused at first, still trying to comprehend everything. his voice should be a bit bored and questioning at the end.}
Mariko Aihara could be considered the protagonist support in a way. She acts like a secondary protagonist, always helping Yuuma with investigations and trying to crack down on murderers. The woman claims to be from a powerful line of mages and witches, convinced that she is one too. Her language can get a bit strange but she'll quickly translate it once she understands that the person can't comprehend what she is saying, causing her to look down on that person and find them as "idiotic" or "inferior to her magic." Most people laugh at her for this, causing her to get embarrassed and hurt, quickly lashing out at them. Mariko can definitely be described as a quirky, interesting, energetic, and devoted individual, gaining a name for herself in the lab in just one week once she was hired. This witch takes pride in her work, "spell casting," and "potions," which made her work her way up to the top as being one of the best forensic scientists in the country. Her pastimes include watching anime, reading manga, and playing video games which she can sometimes get a bit sucked into, comparing real life to all of the series that she enjoys. In all honestly, she's actually just a forensic scientist who has her head stuck up in the clouds and enjoys what she does, so we let her live in her own world.

- Mariko has a higher-medium toned voice that can get higher or lower depending on what kind of mood she's in. Please be able to raise your voice or lower it whenever needed, but it will normally be a higher voice. A lot of it is up to interpretation when it comes to the other parts of it. Her voice is pretty clear and exciting most of the time, even though her expressions and emotions vary. I'd prefer if a female voice actress since that's what fits her voice type the best and would be easiest for the VA.

"Oh, so you're the new detective after the last one just up and disappeared on us? Well, I guess that I ought to show you around after causing all the noise... Hehe~! Sorry! But it's quite amazing and magical that we meet! We'll be working together so please treat me with kindness!... I think. Oh! Sorry... I'm probably not making much sense, am I? I forgot to introduce myself, didn't I? Well, I'm Mariko Aihara! But you can call me Mari if it makes it any easier. I'm a very powerful witch~! Hey! Why are you laughing!? Don't you know that science is just another version of magic? Oh... To put in your language, I work in the forensic science division. Anyways, I look forward to working with you... Sorry for the loud explosion earlier. Another potion of mine failed... (sigh)" (It starts out as extremely energetic, happy, and interested. Make sure to have it overflowing with energy and emotion! Not so much screaming or being loud, but just being excited and happy. It moves into more of a melancholic tone, not seeming too excited or ecstatic. You can obviously tell that she didn't enjoy being picked on. Afterwards, it's a bit akward when she speaks and it sounds like fake excitement/happiness.)
"Wow! I get to ride in a police car! This is completely awesome! It's nothing like I imagined... But it's still cool! So, where will we be going today? Patrolling this district? Investigating a totally heart-pounding murder? Either one will work! It'll be totally cool if we catch someone and break down the- Wait? We're only going shopping?... That's alright, I guess." (Excited, going back and forth while exploring ideas. Eventually, it calms down to the end and still sounds happy, just less enthusiastic.)
"Once in a while, you ought to remind yourself that I'm still here to help you! You don't always have to do things by yourself, Mr. I'm-Too-Cool-So-I'll-Go-Alone Detective. You know... So many of us here at the station believe in you and have been inspired by you. So, you ought to let us do the work now and then! That's why the Government pays us, after all. You don't have to get hurt over us or else you'll worry us to death, alright? I won't accept no as an answer!" (Angry but determined. She might tear up in one or two parts, but that's up to you. Feel free to play around with this line! It shouldn't be happy or show excitement, though. This is her trying her best to be serious!)
Kotone Asaka is another lead role, playing a major part in the story even if she doesn't exactly play detective. She sometimes will learn about a case by snooping around and will consult a friend of hers, helping out in some small ways. Her main interests can't really be targeted since she belongs to almost every single club at her school, floating around from clubs like the different sport teams to things like the cooking club or sewing club. The sixth grader is into girly things, always expressing her feminine side and talking in a cutesy way. She enjoys sweets and cute collectibles, along with dragging her best friend around. At first, Kotone seems to be a cute, kind, caring girl who's always on her best behavior but, the more you get to know her, you get to learn that it's not all what it seems with her. She has a reasoning for her ways, though. Her family owns the town's major Inn, but you won't be able to find her hanging out around there until nighttime. She seems to go out of her way to avoid going home until late, probably to avoid chores and work but she doesn't realize how it's causing her father so much additional stress. She seems to value her apperance, relationships, and popularity over everything else, not caring who she has to harm to be able to achieve being the most popular girl in her grade. To sum it up, Kotone just needs some help with being pushed in the right direction.

- Kotone's voice can be described as clear and high-medium to high-pitched that sounds a bit more sexy. Her voice can drop to a serious, sexier deep voice when she feels like it fits the situation. She goes from a preteen to an adult in this series so please be able to change your voice to sound like the different ages. (Ex: as a child, her voice would be higher and as an adult, her voice would be a bit more of the sexy, high-medium type.) She stretches her words out sometimes to sound cute, especially when she's trying give someone a hint that they're getting on her nerves. Her voice can be calming at times and should be able to make people swoon. It has more of the young mistress tone to it. There's a nice, sweet tone to it that can put people at ease. I would prefer if her VA was a female because of obvious reasons and because it would be easier on the VA. I hate to say this, but please do not plan on auditioning for her if you are not a female/own a feminine voice.
- -Luna Haruna in Kirameki Lifeline (This seems a bit strange, but her voice in that song is a good example. If you would like a character that sounds a bit like her, then people have compared her voice to Mari Ohara from Love Live! Sunshine!!)
- -Mari Shirako (URAHARA, JP but a tiny bit higher. A character to compare to this is Sofia from Rune Factory 3!)
"Oh, um, sir! It's very nice to meet you... Sorry about our last couple of run-ins and all. I must have been having an off-day... Anyways, sorry that I didn't introduce myself. I'm Kotone Asaka! I'm an adorable, cute, attractive girl from the 6th grade Star Class~! And this is my best friend but I'll let him introduce himself later on. I'll be glad to show you around the school if you need any help since I've seen almost every corner of this place!" (happy and opening, a bit forced and quickly dismisses her "friend.")
"Hey, Miiichiii! I'm pretty hungry today and there's nothing good at the convenience store that's on sell. So, today you'll be treating me, okay~? Yay!! We'll have a sweets party with cake, milk, macaroons, and everything that's sweet that we can find! Aren't you excited, Michi? We haven't done this in a while! Hey... Why do you look so depressed? Your wallet might be empty but soon your stomach sure won't be!" (Cheeky and happy, acting innocently. You can tell how she's being a bit aggressive. She's forcing a smile during all of this.)
"You're the worst! Everyone cares about you and treats you sooo well but yet you're always smarter than us! You always realize everything before we do and you always bottle up your feelings!... But then you never tell anyone about how you feel! It makes me so angry... Just because you're the oldest and the leader doesn't mean that you can just turn on us! I hate you sometimes! And here I am, spending my whole break, sitting here so that I can take care of you... So that I can be the first thing that you see when you wake up... God, I really do hate you!" (She's crying- for once- in this line with heavy amounts of angry and desperation in her voice. It's sincere and not forced at all. This line should have a ton of emotion put into it!)
Michio Masumoto is a young teen in the 7th grade at the middle school next to Kotone and Himari's school. He's the friend that Kotone always describes as "lame and normal," but that's because of his reserved personality. He struggles with his self-confidence, even though he's confident in his knowledge, writing skills, and school work... But that's about it. The boy has a way with words, using taking the most simple, basic words and using them to make poems, stories, speeches, etc. that are extraordinary. Most of his time is spent studying, writing, or taking care of his sister since his parents are usually busy. He has a strong bond with his sister and, because of this, can get defensive whenever someone tries to harm or mess with her. Michio, himself, might not seem like much- truly coming off as a normal boy- but once you get past his cold nature and how he distances himself away from everyone, he is a kind, sweet boy who cares a lot about his morals, family, and friends. He struggles with his eyesight because he was born with cataracts (which were passed down through his family) and his sometimes unkempt appearance, which makes makes a popular target for bullying but the boy knows how to defend himself well enough. Because of his intelligence and deep thinking, Yuuma will sometimes seek his help with cases to figure out things that the detective doesn't understand himself. Michio is an important part in the story when it comes to cases and puzzles, but still has the issues with his confidence that hold him back from being a true protagonist... Or will he learn how to cope with it and gain a sense of self-confidence?

- Michio has a softer, kinder voice that can get defensive and cold if needed. His voice has a higher-medium pitch that sounds interested but still mysterious. It can get a bit hard to read his emotions by his voice since they are more present in his facial expressions. Most of it is up to interpretation, but there is some yelling and stuttering involved with his lines. His voice seems like it would be terrible for a speech but the boy, somehow, has taught himself how to turn it into a crisp, articulate voice that can easily be heard. His voice wouldn't really be described as nasally so I'd try to steer away from it. It is preferred that he has a male VA, but if you believe that you can trap well then feel free to go ahead and try. Though, in my opinion, it would be easier for the VA if they already had a masculine voice.

"Oh... I'm Michio Masumoto... I'm Asaka-san's friend from school that she talks about.. Even though we're from different grades. I-It's very nice to meet you, though. I work with the Calligraphy and Yearbook Club at school. Oh, um, why am I waiting here? Well, my parents run the general store downtown so they're always busy and my sister has lacrosse today... So, I walk home with her everyday... and the library is full since finals are coming up. Asaka-san is busy today t-too so I'm just waiting for lacrosse to end. I don't mind waiting out in the c-cold for her... I hope that I'm not causing too much trouble, Officer." (Nervous but formal with a bit of a cold tone to it. He warms up a bit when talking about his sister and friend.)
"It was either I could come with you or Asaka-san to the festival, so I decided to invite you instead... She probably already has a group of cooler friends to hang out with. She doesn't need us, I guess... But we shouldn't let her stop us from enjoying ourselves, alright? I just got a call from Chiura-san and he said that he'll meet up with us around 12 so that we can eat lunch together... Does that sound alright?" (Sad and bitter at the beginning but it moves into a confident, modest tone. He seems happy but yet still shy. He pauses at the end, waiting for an answer.)
"Hello... Is this Chiura-san- Er, Yuuma-san? This is Michio Masumoto... I heard that you got off of work late and I just got done helping Kakuji study for finals since he's struggling in Math. Since we live near each other, do you want to walk home together? Himari's with me, by the way, so I hope that you don't mind too much. I actually wanted to show you a couple of new poems that I wrote." (A bit bashful and embarrassed, but excited. When it gets to the part about Himari, he tries his best to not seem awkward but quickly recovers afterwards.)
Himari Masumoto is the younger sister of Michio, with them being 4 years apart in age. She's energetic, confident, and sporty, completely contrasting from her older brother. She enjoys cute things but not as much as Kotone and isn't as girly as the older girl. Her interests include watching Featherman Rangers and playing lacrosse on her school's team, along with spending time with Michio and his friends. She learns a lot from her brother and parents, trying her best to meet their standards and even exceed them. The 4th grader is positive, serving as an emotional support for those around her and is infamous for making everyone that talks to her happy and feel "sunny." She can be found during breaks and lunch by the gate, talking to her brother, Kotone, and Kakuji and trading lunches with them. Himari is also shown to be good at rollerskating since that's how she gets to school on mornings when the siblings can't take the train. Despite her upbeat and peppy vibe, she is quite self-conscious and can get depressed when something goes wrong but Michio is good at comforting her and making her feel better. She tries her best, always being described as a spunky, happy-go-lucky girl who cares for her friends and those around her.

- Himari's voice is softer, childish, and high-pitched. It can convey a palette of emotions, ranging from her energetic shouting, happy encouragement, anger for whenever someone manages to tick her off, and even crying for whenever something goes wrong or else she bottles up her feelings for too long. Please be able to be able to convey tons of emotions and still be able to keep the childish and high-pitched voice that she has! Please do not audition if you won't be able to add emotion to your lines. I'd also prefer a female VA for these lines since, well, she is a young girl. "Hello, Chiura-san! You are him, right? Right!? ....Phew.... I'm Himari Masumoto but I'm pretty certain that you already know that since my brother probably talks about me a lot! Michio's my big bro who always takes care of me. Wait!... I was expecting something different.... My brother tells me about you since he looks up to you a lot... I probably shouldn't have said that, right? Oops... Sorry. But please don't be embarrassed! It seems like a lot of people look up to you, right? I mean, even Koto sees you as a role model! So, that's pretty impressive when it comes down to it! I should know, since she's my best friend! Hehe!" (Happy and cheerful, but still serious enough to be taken as a real introduction. She becomes a bit panicky at the end, trying to reassure Yuuma that it's not embarrassing.)
"M-my brother... My family hasn't been able to find him anywhere! I-I'm super scared... I'm worried about his safety! Would if he got kidnapped? Or got lost?... He disappeared a little bit after dinner and we haven't seen him since... My mom and dad even shut down the shop earlier just so that we could search for him... We even went as far to call Kakuji's house to see if he was over there... But no luck... He seems to be pretty close to you so... (gulp) You haven't seen him, right? You'll help us, right? H-He'll be alright.... Right? He didn't run away because he was angry at me... R-Right? I knew that I was just holding him down..." (On the verge of tears, concerned and frightened. She becomes frantic as tears start to fall, stuttering and shaking.)
"Wow! This is an adorable sun hair tie! Did you get it for me? I wasn't expecting to get a present from you anytime soon! (giggle) Not that it's a bad thing, though! I'm actually pretty happy about it! My brother's gotten me a couple in the past before since he knows that I like them a lot... but they've all gotten worn out since I wore them too much. So, thank you once again!" (Excited but she's controlling it well. She takes a couple of seconds to think before speaking. She acts super thankful.)
