Akane is a friendly girl who is able to lighten the atmosphere. Even though she is working as a maid, she takes great pride in her job, and dislikes being compared to "part-timers who work in a maid cafe". While she can be scary when she's angry, Akane is generally a cheerful, kind, and caring person.

Mitsuhiro is a chill person with good looks and renowned fame in the world of soccer. Perhaps because of his popularity, he is cocky and arrogant and may ignore someone who he views as "inferior" to him. It's possible that due to his laidback personality, he prefers to be called 'Mitch'.

(Furious) H-Hey! What're you trying to say!? I'm the culprit!? Stop lying! If you think I'm the culprit... THEN SHOW ME SOME FUCKING EVIDENCE!!!
Mikako is a quiet person and doesn't talk very much, and when she does, she sticks to short replies after long periods of silence, often causing people to forget she's around or become surprised when she eventually speaks up. She is unresponsive in a conversation, and avoids making eye contact with anyone she talks to, giving her an impression of an unfriendly student to most of her classmates. Despite this, her expertise on the paranormal allows her to sense danger and promptly prevent it from happening, or at least remedy the situation. She can also see through one's "inner demons", which is very evident for her talent. Her silent personality fails to falter in most situations, even when the Killing Game is first announced or when the first motive is given to the students. This, however, helps her in certain cases, as she remains composed in mostly every type of situation. She also appears to be somewhat analytical, being the first student to notice how it'd be impossible for the rope that's hanging Kiyoka to be wrapped around the pole in the manner it was done in.

When she's the Ultimate Despair, she is excessively devoted to her master, Utsuro, going along with everything he desires and pledging her life to his. However, she does go against his wishes in her final moments of the Killing Game, so she can to allow the survivors to escape.

(Happy/Flustered) Yes! Master Utsuro! He's here! Haa, just thinking about him makes my body tingle!
(Emotionless) There is no happiness, only dread, sorrow, agony, and most importantly... despair...
The real identity of Yuki Maeda is Utsuro, someone in despair who lost interest in life, and finds most things boring. He speaks in a rather blunt and harsh manner.

I don't know how many days it has been, it all feels like a long dream... I am Utsuro, i'll be using that name. Yes, for you guys only. A classmate who lived together with you for several months. If you don't understand this then.. you can just think of me as Yuki Maeda.

Junko's personality, is very apathetic and easily bored to an unhealthy and abnormal degree. Because of this, her behavior and mannerisms tended to be extremely erratic and unstable by her own autonomous design; keeping up one "appearance" for too long bores her, which causes her to often switch between her aforementioned different personas. She switched between these personas regularly, often imitating other students' expressions, which made for a highly unsettling conversation with the survivors. Her voice will either have a different tone or accent within the switches, such as "haughty superiority" giving her a voice similar to a stereotypical British monarch, her "sickening cuteness" giving her a higher pitched voice, her "clinical sophistication" giving her a more mature or deeper voice, making her speak as if she was, as her appearance suggests, a teacher/professor, her "severe depression" giving her a more sad voice, as if she was on the verge of crying, her "eerie stoicism" giving her a monotone voice, her "boisterous vulgarity" sounding similar to a stereotypical rockstar, and her Monokuma one mimicking his voice. While entering the Hope's Peak Academy as one of Class 78's students, she often talked as if narrating a story, writing down her thoughts in a notebook.

(Very Happy) Nice to meet you! I'm the ultimate despair Junko Enoshima! (Cocky) Or actually, it's not nice to meet you since you're gonna die an all.
(Cocky) For me, despair is not a goal, or a set of principles, or a lifestyle, or even an instinct... It's what defines me as Junko Enoshima! It's just my characterization! That's why I'm able to pursue despair with such purity!
(Normal) Hope is harmony. A just heart, moving toward the light. That is all. Despair is hope's polar opposite. It is messy and confusing. It swallows up love, hatred, and everything else. Because not knowing where you will end up is despair. Despair is even what you cannot predict. Only despair's unpredictability can save you from a boring future.
Mukuro has a cold, serious expression and a reserved personality. She is completely indifferent towards other people unless it's her sister Junko. Unlike her sister, she doesn't take any sadistic pleasure in hurting or killing people, but at the same time, she shows little concern for other people's suffering, regarding them more as tools such as when she was surprised Junko made all of the brainwashed Reserve Course students commit suicide despite how useful they could have been. She is mentioned in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc IF to have never held much interest in the world outside of Junko before her time at Hope's Peak Academy, and is perhaps the only Ultimate Despair member who is not obsessed with either hope or despair.
