Hello there! I am Teslarossa, or Johan.
I'm working on a demo for a visual novel of my passion project, Cybermania.
What is Cybermania?
It's a superhero/cyberpunk story set in 2097, where society is divided between cyborgs and people with natural-born superpowers known as "Talents".
The title comes from the manic addiction known as cybermania, where one purposely amputates themself to get cybernetic "Implants" for fashion purposes or new abilities and equipment. It was this mental illness that caused overwhelming stigma against cyborgs, resulting in global unreset.
After the Neo-Knights, an organisation of superheroes, mysteriously closed down some years ago and its former members slowly disappearing, 18-year-old athlete Tesla Hunt sought to find the answers for what happened to his inspirations.
As it turns out, he was caught in the crossfire of a conflict between the Guardian Units, consiting of some of the remaining Neo-Knights left; and Haven, a terrorist group that sought to destroy all cybernetics and end cybermania.
Now fighting alongside his childhood heroes, Tesla was set out to find and capture Conficker, a 16-year-old hacker who works for Haven and one of the main villains in Cybermania.
It's only the gist of the story and I have so much more planned, but as of now I want to work on a 3-minute demo to see what my following thinks about it; if they like it, I'll make a full visual novel.
Casting
For now, I'm only looking for two voice actors for Tesla and Conficker. If this is approved, I could open up 8 more slots.
Tesla
- The good guy
- 16-20-year-old male cyborg
- Comes from California, and speaks English with a Southern Californian accent.
- Has a medium-pitched voice, sounding like your average high school superhero with a somewhat limited vocabulary. He usually sounds excited and enjoying life, but when he's serious, his voice lowers and strengthens.
- As a cyborg, he has a robotic voice (more specifically a short reverb and chorus effect); will be edited by me in postproduction.
Conficker
- The bad guy
- 16-20 year old male organic
- Comes from South Korea, and speaks English with a South Korean accent.
- A rather deep, but soft deep for a teenager. Naturally has a bit of a deadpan, emo tone (like he is sooo bored out of his mind), but has a bit of a playful tone when he's trying to find amusement. He's egotistical and has a high sense of entitlement, only exaggerated by his greed.
How to Audition
To audition, use the auditioning line for the character you want to play as.
Tesla's auditioning line:
A visual novel? Like a book, but with pictures, animations, and everything? SWEET! Bring it on! I'll make sure to give my all.
Conficker's auditoning line:
Ehh, it's whatever. I'm down with being in a visual novel, as long as there's cash. Give me ₩500 won an hour and then we'll talk.
Rules:
1. You MUST have a Discord account!
2. Additonally, you must be comfortable with being loud and shouting, as it does happen in the demo.
3. Also, be comfortable with swearing! While it's kept at a minimum in this demo (limited only to PG-level swearing), there may be more in the full visual novel.
4. If you have problems finding the right voice, please let me know so I can try and guide you into the right direction.
5. Most importantly, please have fun! This is my first major project so I may be sluggish at the start, but please have patience.
