This is the second casting call for the Crescent Close radio drama, highlighting some of the roles that didn't get as much attention in the last casting call. There are still some major and supporting roles open, so feel free to apply! And without further ado...
"Only two of the residents of Crescent Close noticed something strange about that morning. There was Harold Barrett, who fiddled with his partially homemade radio, trying and failing to pick up the morning talk show he listened to with every morning coffee. And there was Lucy McKinnney, who lay in her school uniform out in the backyard, wondering why she couldn’t see any birds in the sky. Everyone else was too busy with themselves to realise something was wrong."
Crescent Close is a radio drama centered around the people living in Crescent Close, a cul-de-sac in the annals of suburbia. They become trapped within their street, and before long their tenuous middle-class order breaks down as everyone's secrets begin to be discovered. The story follows Abby, a rebellious kid desperately trying to get the adults to stop squabbling amongst themselves and see the bigger picture. Will the kids of Crescent Close manage to pull their parents away from pointless arguments? Why does Riley's mum keep visiting Mr Carlson, and what's he keeping in his basement? Will anyone figure out what, or who, has bound them to the tarmac of the street? To find out, you'll have to audition...

Joanne is the wife of Doug and sees herself as someone who can tame the angry bear that is her husband. In reality, she's afraid of him. She has been a stay at home mum for years now, and often lives through her kids and the lives of her few adult friends. She is passive, but has a strong sense of right and wrong.
Sweetie why aren’t you on your way to school? Step back, it might be dangerous.
(nervously placating her husband) It's all right honey. She's in the backyard, not hurting anyone.
Harold lives with his wife of 40 years in their old house on Crescent Close, and tries not to get involved in the messy politics of the street. He will, however, give the kids a helping hand. He doesn't know what they're planning, but he sure loves how excited they are.
(sneakily, playful) Come on, noone will see you if you hide in the garden.
Belinda is doing her best to do what she always has, which is make the world a little prettier wherever she goes. She can clearly see the faults of people younger than her, and tries to pass on her experience to them. Whether or not they listen is not her concern.
(giving advice) She’s trying to be kind. You owe it to her to be kind back.
Charlie is vicious. She'll climb any ladder before her, and expects to get what she wants, not through handouts, but by storming through the competition. Noone is going to stand in her way, and if she needs to destroy a few careers to get there, so be it.
(cunning) I know what you’re trying to do, and I want in.
(fed up) Mike for goodness sake, it’s not the military.
Mike fell in love with Charlie thanks to her drive and spark, something he felt like he lacked. He isn't doing what he enjoys but hopes that Charlie will find happiness, and he'll be alongside her. He has a moral compass however, which may make it hard for him to follow Charlie sometimes.
(skeptical) After that stunt you pulled with the kid’s dog, I’m surprised even I’m here.
Amelia has been a scientist since she was a kid, and has had a love of learning for as long as she can remember. She doesn't see herself good at this whole 'people' thing, but having fallen backwards into a loving family, she has to figure that out.
(angry and panicked) And to add to all that, the gun is still out there! Who knows who has it, I mean. What am I supposed to say to all that? What on earth do you say to all that?
(excited) Oh! Before we start on that, there’s something interesting I want you to see.
Greg fell in love with Amelia for her charm and smarts, and is loving family life. He sees himself as a family man first, maths professor second, and cares deeply for his wife and daughter.
(starry eyed and proud) Well look at how the distances line up. That’s not a rounded edge, it’s like a cone, or a projector beam. Or, an arrow.
(kind) Morning Candy. Your mum was just about to show us something interesting.
