Instead of trying to cast as many parts as possible, I'm just casting enough for the first chapter. Unlike the last casting call, this is for an actual visual novel version of the story (I have the first chapter coded out in Ren'Py; I'd like to release it as a demo hopefully with some voice acting.)
If you happen to care, currently the most up-to-date version of the Cohesion story is available on inkitt (I haven't really cared to keep the other versions completely up to date. Chances are high that I'll completely change the story past the first chapter, since the second chapter as currently written is pretty much just info dumping)
I know the project image makes it look like it's horror; it does cover mature themes, but it's not explicitly horror. (I also realize it's probably not the best-looking render; I have a lot of different skills, and I'm not the best at any of them)
For more info, I'm shooting for about Teen (ESRB Ratings; I'm not really planning on getting a rating, I'm just keeping the standard in mind) None of the characters swear, mostly because it takes place in a different universe and it comes off as awkward. (the only character who probably would is Connor)
I've included vocal ranges, but feel free to ignore this; I'm more looking for proper emotion in the lines then that the characters sound exactly like they do in my head.
As long as your audio sounds clear and you emote (I'm NOT looking for monotone and you don't have to be exaggerative/cartoony, just sound like you have emotions. I can add stage directions if needed.) I would prefer everyone be over 18 even though the mature themes are implied (The latest chapter available on Inkitt is probably the most mature the story has gotten so far)
The chapter numbers on lines are which chapter they're in for the story currently up on Inkitt (for anyone that cares to look up context of the line, though I'll try to give parentheticals so that hopefully won't be necessary)
Payment is ONLY for the demo, though I will need voices for these characters for the full game.
I've pushed the deadline a week, mostly because I've extended the first chapter a lot more than I thought I was going to (I might even extend the deadline a bit more just to make sure I actually have it all down before starting) I do have a general idea of who I want to cast, and will most likely be in contact soon, anyway.
As I said in the last one, you would think since he narrates the majority of the story, I would know what Damien sounds like, but his accent is one of the hardest one to pin down. To go deeper than I did last time, it's probably because in my head it vacillates depending on certain points in the story (I don't expect you to do that; one accent is perfectly fine) I'll pretty much accept any non-thick English accent, though the ones in the accent section should be the typical ones that he sounds like the most.
He tends to actually be a bit soft spoken and is somewhere in the tenor range.
He's in his late twenties (Damien is twenty-seven at the start of the story)
I'm not going to expect whoever gets the role to narrate the whole game.
[from ch1] (accidentally out loud) Don’t like the Main Division.
[from ch 3] (sigh) I'm not getting into this right now.
[from ch9] (tense) I don’t want or need your charity!
Ashton sounds posh, but not quite British (don't force an accent if you can't do it) I'll accept pretty much any upper crust sounding accent. For more information than I gave last time, his voice tends to be soft and is in a baritone range.
He's about 40 or 50 during the duration of the story.
[from ch1] I prefer Ashton.
[from ch1] (bemused) You assaulted a Board member as a cadet?
[from ch8] (groans) This better be important!
Connor sounds like he has an Irish accent (I swear it's not because of his name; it developed independently. Probably because of the way I write his dialogue) I'm going to switch it up and accept British (not overly thick and NOT posh) along with Brooklyn or Bostonian.
He's about mid-thirties and tends to talk somewhere in the soprano range, though his actual voice is somewhere in lower tenor. He also smokes, but that doesn't necessarily have to come across in his voice.
[from ch3] Well, I’ve only ever seen ya shout at people. Don’t even think I’ve seen ya draw your gun except for practice.
[from ch3] (weary) Swear, sometimes it’s like you aren’t even real… Ya really not bothered at all?
[from ch10] I’m fixing my coat, sir. (in a mutter) Didn’t expect a Board member…
Just a note: This is probably only going to be for one line, but I want to refence something earlier than I do in the written story. (I'll still probably pay $5)
Dalton is the Head of the Board (basically he's the leader of the government) The most barebones basic way to explain him is he's pretty much a classic narcissist (I don't expect that to actually help, I just know I didn't say it last time) I don't really have a settled accent for him, so I'll pretty much take any posh sounding accent, along with Californian or New Yorker (for some reason that's just what he tends to sound like)
He's about thirty or forty. He's the father of two boys; an eight year old and a fourteen year old.
[ch8](breathing that devolves to manic laughter) One would think you’d know your place!
[ch9] He’s eight; half the time he’s going on about things that aren’t even real.
[ch9] That’s unfortunate. I rather thought we were more.
